Old World Barber Shop is one of the best kept secrets of all times. I have lived in the area all my life and have become familiar with many of the local businesses and the quality of their services. I have gone to other hair salons in the past, often overpaid for haircuts so decided to try someone new. This was my first experience with Leo at Old World Barber shop. Finally a very good men's haircut at a very reasonable price in a very friendly relaxed environment. Leo listened to how I wanted my hair to look, took his time and gave me a really great haircut. All for ONLY $25.00 ! Based on my first experience I will become a regular customer and I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a great haircut at a very reasonable price. 5 STARS ! read more

Great cut. Hot shaving cream to clean up the edges. Great for kids as well. Convenient free street parking. ( can't beat that) read more

Moved to NWP last summer from the Bronx and needed to find my forever barber shop. The pandemic put a damper on that and I finally found my new place! Leo is polite, funny and we had a great conversation. Before I knew it I looked like a human being again. Big thanks Leo for the haircut & see you next month! read more

Old World Barber Shop - After. - Barbers Near Me - Valhalla, New York

See all

I used to go to the prior location on Central Ave. for years and was thrilled to see Leo relocate closer to me in Valhalla. Same great cuts, super easy and free parking, and quick service. Leo gives the best haircuts and the new location is perfect. It's right near the post office, across from the Valhalla train station. Also, there's always coffee and sometimes homemade snacks offered (which I believe his sister bakes herself), which adds a really nice, personal touch that other places just don't have. And as an added bonus, Leo, like me, is a local to the area, so he's more than willing to fill customers in on goings on around town and to give advice on good restaurants etc. in the area. Even at peak times, I have never had to wait for a cut, and I am always completely happy when I walk out. Every hair is perfectly trimmed with an attention to detail that is flawless. Really happy I can get a cut here without dealing with crazy traffic or parking drama like is all too common in town. read more

Guys, this is the barber you want. Don't waste your time/money/hair at those dumb chain spots like supercuts or sportclips, don't be that guy. That's the kinda guy that still wears his high school letterman jacket and gives noogies. "Bet ya I can throw this pigskin over them mountains!" Be an adult. Go to a real barber. Old World is where you get that. A sincere, experienced, tells-it-like-it-is old Italian guy who knows how to cut hair. This is his livelihood, he wants you back, he's not gonna mess up your hair. If you're like me, you tend to flip flop around from shop to shop, because "they're all the same." Right? Wrong. This place is the real deal. You will not want to go anywhere else. Why you ask? Apart from the owner/main barber being an absolute rockstar Italian barber (you know, the people you're supposed to go to for haircuts?) they give you the full barber experience. Warm shave of the neck, hot shave if you ask for it, classic old Italian guy small talk. It's a fantastic experience that I have no complaints about. It might be a few dollars more than sportclips or whatever hack you go to now, but riddle me this: do you want those dollars going to a genuine barber that has made this his life's work? Or some douchey corporation? Long story short: be a man. Go to a real barber. Old World is the real barber. read more

Really happy with my haircut, and I'm usually not lol. That pretty much sums it up. I flew in from LA on business and needed to look sharp. Came here, really happy. I look awesome now haha read more

Old World Barber Shop - Barbers Near Me - Valhalla, New York

The history and traditions of classic barbers is alive and well at Leo's Old World Barber Shop. Owner Leonardo Calabrese, a second generation barber, provides classic cuts using shears, straight edge razors, and many of the traditions of classic barbers- the art of story telling. read more

the name of this barber shop is perfect and on point as its old school like the italian run barber shop i would visit during my youth in the bronx. my childhood buddy whos father , relatives and friends were regulars told me about old world barber shop when they were located on central ave in westchester and now its anchored in valhalla which is not far from my white plains pad . if i am correct its now operated by the owners son who has continued the traditional of giving top notch hair cuts at fair prices .place still has the old school barber vibe with its decor and its kept simple without all the useless bells and whistles that newer modern bland barber shops gimmick out. my cuz and i got our haircut in less then a hour combined and now cuz looks semi normal . glad old world barber is still around. read more

Leo is a gentleman. He has been in the business for many years and I trust him with my hair. There is always parking and he does a good job. I'm glad I found him after he relocated. read more

BTW I do give everyone a chance. Sorry to say, cause the father and son team are very nice people. But this is about business not personality. My haircut first time from dad took sooooo long. He was friendly, we were talking but from my second visit ...with other customers and my wife waiting in the car, wow things moved very slow. The third and LAST time was w/ his son (nice guy) who couldn't even finish my haircut without dad to come check?? It was weird... I seen other yelpers say similar. Aside from that it was really just a shaved head and beard trim which was just 2 snips with a comb and scissor. no shape or clean up for 10 plus more then my barber NOW with a shape/trim/clean up and experience/fast service etc. so much more. Sorry cause they are nice people but I don't think the son is barber taught and dad been cutting it up long time. read more

I'm sorry to say that Michael has passed away. He was my barber for many years, always spending time to make sure the haircut was perfect. His son is running the shop and does a great job also. read more

Seriously nice haircut, high attention to detail and a really nice guy - highly recommended!

Very happy with my haircuts here from Mike. I have difficult hair and have been popping from barber to barber trying to find someone I like. Stopped here on a lark once and have been coming back since. read more

Great old fashioned barber shop. Great conversation, great haircut from a seasoned pro. Walk-ins welcome.

Never in my life have I sat in a chair for two and a half hours for a cut and a shave and been so disappointed. They didn't swap the blades they use. And charged me for a "Hot Shave." They cut me about 4 times and ended up having to pay $50. Never ever again. read more

For the second time in my 58 years I had to stop a haircut in the middle. The son in a father and son operation has been cutting hair for a year and he is completely incompetent. You are out of your mind if you let this guy anywhere near you. HIs father finished up, saying that his son is still learning. He seems to know what he is doing, but I think he may be one of the nastiest people that I ever came across. $22 for for terrible service and creepiness. If that's your thing, this is the place for you. If not, I am serious.....Stay away. read more

Been going to "Old World" for years, the old locale and the new one in Valhalla. Leonardo, the owner and operator, always gives you his undivided, meticulous attention - old school! I can't say enough good things. read more

Love this place. The guys are great and very friendly and the service is fantastic. Always enjoy coming. It's easily my favorite barbershop I've been to. read more

Sports Clips closed down the street, leaving me with needing to find a new barber. I look on Yelp and saw Old World Barber Shop had great reviews and I stopped in today and got a great haircut. Very fun vibe and attention to detail like no other. I'm in my 30s and only a handful of people have ever cut my hair so I'm quite picky about barbers and am happy I found my new neighborhood barber. It was a little more expensive than Sports Clips but I am happy with how it came out! Thanks and you guys just earned a customer for life! read more

Don't believe the bad reviews. Best haircut around, no one even comes close.

I began going to Old World Barber Shop about ten years ago. The father owned the business and brought his son in a few years ago. They are great folks and Leonardo, the son, has recently come into his own showing a real flare for cutting hair. The father was a great guy with over 50 years in the business who has recently passed away but passed on his barber DNA to his son who doesn't let you walk out the door unless the job is done right. read more

He is unusual for Westchester. Cuts like the nyc barbers that I remember and is very good. Would give him 5 stars but he charges $20 for haircut so somewhat pricey. read more

My son loves Mike. We have a barber shop a block from our house, but he loves the haircut he receives here. Mike is a throw back to a by gone era when you use to get haircuts in your neighborhood by an old school Italian. He will chat with you and joke around. Sometimes there's a little wait & some may feel $22 is a lot for a haircut, but it's worth it if your happy in the end. My son loves the way Mike cuts his hair, so we'll keep coming back here! read more

I moved out of the area and I still drive an hour and a half to get a haircut from Mike. That is how good this barber is. Mike is an old school barber and is always friendly, conversational, and cuts my hair exactly how I ask him to. Although his price is a little on the high end, you are getting what you pay for -- A great barber experience overall. read more

Finally, here's a barber who knows how to use scissors, so one doesn't walk out with a Kentucky-special haircut!! One doesn't have to talk to him, but if one wishes to do so he actually is capable of having a human conversation. I'd give him more stars but there are only 5! read more

As usual 5 star treatment and a 5 star haircut. The barbers are true gentlemen and have honed there craft over the years. On top of the great haircut they are great conversationalist. Im really glad i found this gem. And i try to stop in as much as i can when i am in the area. read more

I was referred to this place by a friend while I was in town for a visit. Great customer service, a terrific haircut. I couldn't be more satisfied. I will definitely be back for another cut when I'm back in town. I highly recommend. read more

Terrible, cut my hair dry so all the hair went everywhere. When I complained he said I have to pay for that. Lol. Wasn't asking for a shampoo most competent barbers spray your hair so hair doesn't stick to everything and itches. Didn't have a brush used napkins to clean up. Didn't do what I asked for. Asked for gel and he spayed my hair with water. Don't go here unless you don't care how you look. Amateur hour over there and expensive compared to others $ 22. read more

There is only one kind of haircut they do well in this place , the proper boy haircut from the 60's ... anything else you ask is a complete disaster . Extremely old school and not open to any current trends . Actually called my son a girl because his hair got a bit long ( btw- not long at all .... !!!) read more

Mike always does a great job! Even open on Sundays....

Fantastic - you will be in the good hands of an expert.
