For the past 3 years I've been going to his barber Will and in the past month I don't if something has happened in Will's personal life but he has been rude, unprofessional, and hostile to say the least. We had an issue with the appointment service that Royalty Chop Shop uses. I called the shop 3 times, six hours before my appointment, all calls sent to voicemail. I called and texted Will, no answer. I even called and texted the owner Alex, with no answer. Even when I rescheduled online, I called again to try and confirm my appointment was to be rescheduled for the next day. Still no answer. When I called the next day, they confirmed the shop was closed and rescheduled, then hung up. They then called me back to tell me to reschedule again, wanting to charge me for a second time. After telling them the many times I called, Will jumped on the phone and told me that he is a busy man and it's not his job to pick up clients phone calls or text. When I told him that I called the shop he said it wasn't his job and since I was his only client that had a problem with their software that I can find another barber. I haven't received my refund and I called Alex and left messages countless times. I'll find another barber, but if this is the type of business you're going to run with short tempered young kids that don't have good communication skills and bring personal problems to work and take them out on paying customers then you will fail. I went to Janilssy's to get an $8 dollar shape up from my barber. He grabbed the trimmer to work on the lines before proceeding with the razor to put the final touches. I didn't have much to talk to the barber this time as I was getting hungry. Once my barber finishes with my cut, he applied a cotton ball soaked with alcohol before I applied my own aftershave. I paid the barber and left to get back home for lunch, taking my backpack and headphones along the way. What I like about the barbershop is that the barbers took pride in their haircraft, knifework and a sense of camaraderie, which is essential in a business. Every barber has their own unique style suited for certain customers who view them like family, like fades, tapers, and beard work.

Sorry! I neglected to write down a review weeks prior, so I am on it right now…read more (three weeks earlier, on a Monday and to the best of my knowledge) I went down to Handlebar's to get a buzz cut! My usual barber Astrit was on vacation at the time so the folks recommended me a barber whose name I could not remember except that he shared Astrit's heritage. I was given espresso and biscuits and the barber went down to work. As we converse, he also worked on the shape up, never forgetting to take out the mirror for me to see the results. What sets it apart from most barbershops in White Plains, which were mostly urban and working class, is the setting with a brick wall facing the barber chairs and mostly catering to a middle class clientele, but there is no competition whatsoever between the shop and others as far as I know. Sometimes, I just need to get pampered for lack of a better word. One of these days, a shave would be nice, but I am in no rush at the moment!

If you want a simple cut, Kathy isn't the one…read more I did a same day reservation today and when I got there Kathy, the Italian lady, was available. I showed her the photos and she did a wash, cut , and dry($45). We've talked about retail service and how sometimes she gets crazy customers, now I understand why. Don't get me wrong, I've been to this salon a few times, for dyes and cuts and it's been great, just what I've ask for but with different staff members that understand what I asked for. Kathy doesn't seem to understand... The cut when it was wet was bad but when it got to drying and styling, it was really bad... not what I asked for at all.. Wayy too shaggy and thin... literally nothing like the photos I've shown her. It's a literal mullet. When she was styling it, she saw how upset or unsatisfied I was with the cut. I told her my troubles, it was too short, not really what I wanted. She was getting frustrated at me, why? because the cut I wanted was nothing the way i asked. She said that I told her I wanted a pixie cut look? I never said that, We only talked about the time I wanted a pixie cut from a previous salon that didn't give me what I asked. Not sure why she would say that considering I showed her photos of shoulder length cut, nothing like a pixie cut... It was honestly super frustrating, I showed her the photos after and she kept insisting it was the same (it's not) and I told her the layers were longer in the back but she kept insisting it just shorter... when she showed me the back of my head... I was disappointed rightfully so. It was way too short, even she acknowledged it. Kathy said it will grow in two weeks and it should be fine. How is that fine? I just wanted a simple haircut and not worry about stuff like this. She says if I have any problems I can come back, which is fine but what can she fix? It's way too late for that, it's shaggy and very layered to be "fixed". I can't even style it or anything. This is a great salon but if you want a simple haircut, get anyone BUT KATHY
