If you have limited time or aren't sure where to start your journey, Old Windmill Farm is an excellent place to visit. Drive carefully to the parking area, where you will probably be greeted by sheep. The animals made the visit for us. Prices and information are listed at the small window where you can buy canned food and other Amish creations. You might be greeted by the farm's cat. The longer tour includes hands on activities, including holding animals. There is a hay ride that is included in the extended tour or an additional $5. The property is awesome. We enjoyed walking around. This is a great family or couples activity.

Upon visiting Lancaster, we were looking for an authentic and educational Amish cultural experience. After thorough research, we landed on Old Windmill Farm. Not only did this visit provide us with a proper and authentic Amish experience, but it exceeded our expectations. Our tour guide, Martha, made the experience very personal. She even let my friend and I take turns "driving" the horse drawn hay ride. Upon arriving at the barn, we got to feed a bottle to baby calves, milk a cow, hold baby rabbits, play with Puppies and Kittens, watch small pigs go down a slide (and eat a Cheeto!), pet sheep and lambs, and receive a brief education on Amish culture and farms from Martha. We will 100% come back here in the future - this was the highlight of our Lancaster trip. It is well priced and worth it at ~$23 for a full hour experience. If you go to this farm, ask for Martha!

This is one of the highest rated places that I have ever seen on Yelp! This is one of the few places where kids can pet about 50 different animals. This is a true unique travel experience.

Took my 3 yr old here for interactive plain farm experience. Tour guide let the kids be very hands on. We saw mules pig goats bunnies horses chickens etc... the kids were able to feed the animals and hold most of them. They also have hand sanitizer at stations. at the end we paid an extra $5 for a wagon ride for her through the farm.

Such an amazing farm! Had a nice hayride and then got to feed mules, and horses, then went to bottle feed calfs. Then we were able to hold cute puppies, baby goats, and baby pigs!! I even got to milk a cow! It was so fun to go through and see all the different animals and every animal was so sweet and nice!! All the people on the farm are super kind as well! Would 100% visit this farm again!

I absolutely loved this farm!! We bought the tickets for $21 each and you get a ride in the horse and buggy, petting zoo, feed the animals, hold the animals, collect chicken eggs, & more!! So fun and so wholesome!!! The family/people running the farm and the tours are absolutely wonderful!!! We were there for about an hour or maybe 1.5 hours. So cheap and such a great time. The animals include: dogs, cats, cows, chickens, pigs, turkeys, bunnies, llamas & more!!! They also have homemade sauces, cookies, and other goodies that you can purchase on site. Highly recommended for kids and families!

The tour was amazing. We went with our adult kids and grandkids. We all got to hold the baby animals and interact with the bigger ones. We made so many happy memories Saturday. Thank you for opening up your animals and home to us. It is a must any age

Better to pay IN PERSON than online! When paying online, there's a surcharge fee of about $2. Also, even though it says that children under 2 y/o are free, for some reason, it was still charging another $2 for my daughter. When I saw those extra fees, I took a chance and just paid when we got to the farm. Turns out, no extra fees! Phew! As long as you and your group are flexible with when to take the tour (tours are every hour) then it's better to pay in person. But if you are strict on time, then paying online would secure your spot. Worst case scenario is you would be pushed to the next tour. When you first arrive, the front end of the farm is filled with shops. You have to drive down a smaller narrow path in the back to get to the actual farm. There are signs to direct you. ANYWAY, about the actual farm experience... It was definitely a cute farm with a lot of opportunities to pet, hold, and interact with animals. The $18 admission also includes a hayride which is always nice. The $26 admission offered everything from the $18 admission plus a barrel ride for children and maybe a tour of another area of the farm. But we felt the $18 admission was enough of an experience for us, about an hour altogether. The hayride was a circle around their field and around the barns, lasting about 10 mins. After that, we started to tour the barn. We were able to pet horses, feed milk/water to calves, held baby chicks, baby ducks, baby a baby goat and bunnies, milked a cow, saw baby pigs slide down a slide and rewarded them with cheese doodles. It was a nice experience and children would absolutely love and enjoy it. The owners are very sweet and welcoming.

One of the better petting farm experiences. It has all the classics including goats, chickens, sheep, horses, cows. The owner himself puts on an entertaining tour and makes sure all are involved. They also have a hayride and sell some snacks. It is a fairly big farm and barn area. Friendly animals, friendly staff

I can't say enough about the hospitality of this farm. This family was welcoming, kind, and just answered every question we had. Our farm tour was laid back and fun. We ride the wagon and the kids got to drive the mules! So much fun. We also met with so many farm animals, baby animals, milked a cow, played with baby pigs. Just so much fun. There was such a relaxed environment and the kids felt so comfortable. I would highly highly recommend this farm to visit. They are kind Christian people who enjoy sharing their life with you.

What a fantastic experience! From check in to the end it was a welcoming and great tour. "Grandpa", the tour guide was a very nice gentleman and allowed all of us in the tour to get a nice feel of the farm. The kids got to feed the goats, pigs, horses and cows. They were allowed to hold the bunnies and small chickens, you can so milk the cow and try the milk if you wish, the kids can also grab the eggs from under the hens! Grandpa even gave us a ride in the horse wagon at the end of the tour. Can't believe I only paid $38 for my wife, my 2 year old son and I. Highly recommend this place for the kids!

We booked the Amish Fun Farm Combo which is slightly more than the standard ticket. The difference is the garden tour and experience, and the barrel ride (pulled by a horse). I love how each group (about 20 people, for your timed session) has their own guide. Our guide was one of the daughters of the owner. She brought us on a hayride (pulled by horses) around the farm, and then we went to see all the baby farm animals. We got to feed baby cows, goats, horses, pigs, etc. The children were able to hold some animals too (baby goat, chicks), and help gather eggs from the hen house. This is something we have never experience even at petting zoos and farms. This is a much more hands-on and intimate experience. We also milked a cow. The kids enjoyed the barrel ride (warning it goes fast and it gets dusty!). The children learned about farming and helped plant some potatoes. The kids had so much fun here they want to come back, and they were all able to share their experience back at school too. We had kids age 4-10 in our party.

Last year, my Adventure Buddy and I spotted Cherry Crest Adventure Farm while riding the Strasburg…read moretrain and made a mental note to come back someday. Fast forward to a beautiful, sunny Saturday in early October when we realized we'd be nearby with an open adventure slot. WELL, HELLO, CHERRY CREST! We purchased our tickets online ahead of time for significant savings and arrived around noon, apparently at the exact same time as EVERY OTHER HUMAN BEING IN PENNSYLVANIA. The parking fields were packed. Admission lines looked enormous. For a moment, I wondered what we'd gotten ourselves into. But the parking attendants were doing a great job directing traffic, parking was FREE (thank you!), and the admission lines moved surprisingly quickly. Before long, we had our wristbands and were ready to adventure. FIRST STOP: THE DONUT HUT. We grabbed two apple cider donuts and a bottle of apple cider and both exceeded my hopes! The donut was so fresh and hot I had to wait for it to cool before digging in! Soft, fluffy, generously coated in cinnamon sugar and absolutely delicious! If this was how Cherry Crest intended to welcome me, we were going to get along just fine! Next up was the main reason we'd come: THE CORN MAZE! I did my first corn maze last year and decided to make it an annual tradition. Cherry Crest had the honor of being my Corn Maze #2. I'm no corn maze expert, but, this one had some really fun twists! Instead of simply wandering around hoping to eventually find civilization again, we were given a blank grid and tasked with finding pieces throughout the maze to tape onto it, gradually completing our map. There were also hidden clues for a crossword puzzle! A corn maze WITH SIDEQUESTS?! SIGN. ME. UP! We navigated our way through the intermediate maze in less than the estimated 40 minutes, which was both surprising and satisfying. We found our way out, completed our adventure and didn't have to call anyone to rescue two grown adults from a field of corn. CORN MAZE 2026: COMPLETE! From there, we wandered around exploring the property. It was definitely busy, with plenty of families, strollers and wagons, but still manageable. Patience is key on a beautiful fall Saturday, especially when apparently the entire Commonwealth has decided to celebrate autumn simultaneously. Eventually, we made our way to the other side of the farm for what turned out to be my FAVORITE activities of the day. APPLE CANNONS AND PAINTBALL! Of course we'd purchased the optional add-ons. You think I'm going to stand next to a giant cannon that launches actual apples and NOT pay to shoot it?! The lines were a little long, but they moved along nicely. And once it was my turn? PEW PEW, MOTHER NATURE! I had an absolute BLAST launching apples at targets and managed to hit almost everything I aimed for! Then we moved to the paintball range, where I continued my surprisingly impressive performance, knocking over targets with lime green paintballs! Apparently I've been walking around for 40+ years without realizing I have a natural talent for recreational projectile launching. WHO KNEW?! Both activities were absolutely worth the additional cost. If you're visiting as an adult and enjoy a little friendly target practice, don't skip them! Another thing that caught my attention was the reservable fire pit areas scattered throughout the property. They had little pavilions and signs identifying the groups who'd reserved them. We saw everything from birthday celebrations to retirement gatherings, and I thought that was such a cool way to spend a fall afternoon with friends or family. Food prices seemed fairly typical for an attraction. I noticed a double cheeseburger with fries advertised for $17.99, for example. But I also spotted groups with birthday cakes, two-liter bottles of soda and bags of chips at their fire pit areas. I'm not sure what Cherry Crest's outside food policies are, so I'd recommend checking before bringing your own picnic. If it's permitted, though, that could be a great way to keep costs down, especially for families! All told, we spent about two hours exploring Cherry Crest as two adults in our 40s, and we had a GREAT time! Would families with children get even more out of it? ABSOLUTELY. There are so many activities geared toward younger kids that I could easily see families spending an entire day here. But don't assume you need children to enjoy Cherry Crest. Between the corn maze, fall treats, apple cannons, paintball and general autumn atmosphere, there's plenty of fun for grown-ups, too! I came for a corn maze, discovered a surprisingly accurate apple-cannon aim, ate an outstanding donut and added another destination to my annual fall adventure list. Not bad for a couple of hours in a cornfield! Nice job, Cherry Crest! I'll absolutely be back!

This is so poorly laid out. They have no maximum and just let hundreds if not thousands of people in all day long. This part of their ticketing was my favorite: - Pre-purchased admissions are NON-REFUNDABLE for any reason and expire at the end of the season. - We are a weather dependent business and may need to close due to weather. So it's a giant F.U. if something comes up in your life for your family or something happens to you. But if it rains - it's F the buyer you're beat. No refunds. Nothing. What a completely ass backward way or running a business that's CLEARLY not hurting for profit. I'll never take my family here. I'll tell everyone I know it's a collasal waste of money and not worth driving hours to get to only to be directed up a mountain to park. You think my little kids were ready to walk A MILE to stand in line for AN HOUR?! lol. What a joke.

Located about 40-45 minutes away from the city, the farm is easy to find (just type in the address on their website). The entry fee is very reasonable at $5 per car, and they also sell some food (i.e. chips, drinks, baked goods, pulled pork sandwiches) as well as sunflowers up front. Food wasn't particularly memorable but not bad, and the sunflowers were quite the deal (only $1 per stem, or 6 for $5). The actual sunflower field was reasonably sized. It was a bit difficult to navigate through the mud, and also a little hard to get good photos unless you go off the trail and into the flower beds (which you're not supposed to do), but the sunflowers were still pretty. Overall very glad I visited. Not sure if I'd necessarily make the trip out again anytime soon, but I definitely recommend it if you have not gone before!

Rayba has 6 rooms which have separate entrances from her house, and they are spacious and comfortable. We stayed in a first floor King bedroom with fabulous air conditioning, and a memory foam bed, and sooo quiet! Not more than 10-15 min from many good places, markets, Sight and Sound, Railway, Buffets. Good strong WiFi. When we opened the door, we were accosted by the horrible smell of manure (there was no outside odor). We later realized that the smell was coming from the AC unit. Then there were the unfixed issues with the ceiling above the shower and the "fancy" tp holder. Trying to get the tv to work was another issue plus the lack of internet. Apparently, you can only get internet at the main house. My in-laws had previously stayed at the main house and told us how lovely it was which is why we decided to stay here. They were very surprised and shocked to see what our room looked and smelled like. I would never recommend staying anywhere but at the main house. Also, the owner who lives at the main house should check each and every room from time to time. We will not return here.

As a mom, I'm always looking for activities that are engaging, hands-on, and actually worth leaving the house for, and this was one of those places. They offer family-centered activities on Fridays, and this past Friday we did the pig cookie-making class with storytime. It was such a cute idea and very toddler/kid friendly. After the class, they took us to feed the pigs and taught the kids about them, which made it feel both fun and educational. After class, you can choose either a pony ride or a farm animal tour, which I thought was a nice touch. The space has lots of animals and plenty of opportunities for petting and interacting, which my child really enjoyed. And for kids who may not be as interested in the animals, there's also a large play area/park so there's still plenty for them to do. I also really appreciated that there were multiple hand-washing stations throughout the farm, which makes a big difference when you're out with little ones. My main downsides were the bathrooms and food options. I really wish they had traditional bathrooms instead of porta-potties, because that can be especially tricky when you're managing a potty-training toddler.
