They offer family-centered activities on Fridays, and this past Friday we did the pig cookie-making class with storytime. It was such a cute idea and very toddler/kid friendly. After the class, they took us to feed the pigs and taught the kids about them, which made it feel both fun and educational. After class, you can choose either a pony ride or a farm animal tour, which I thought was a nice touch. The space has lots of animals and plenty of opportunities for petting and interacting, which my child really enjoyed. And for kids who may not be as interested in the animals, there's also a large play area/park so there's still plenty for them to do. I also really appreciated that there were multiple hand-washing stations throughout the farm, which makes a big difference when you're out with little ones. My main downsides were the bathrooms and food options. I really wish they had traditional bathrooms instead of porta-potties, because that can be especially tricky when you're managing a potty-training toddler. I also wish the concession area had better snack and food options. Overall though, this was a really fun, family-friendly outing and we had a great time.

So when Destiny Dairy Bar showed up on my feed talking about "come snuggle piglets for $25!" there was no internal debate. No hesitation. No weighing the pros and cons. I immediately booked a Piglet Snuggle Session. Honestly...I don't think I've ever typed my credit card number faster. Booking online was incredibly easy, and from the moment I reserved my spot, Destiny Dairy Bar knocked the customer service out of the park. They sent multiple emails leading up to my appointment explaining exactly what to expect, reminding me about my reservation and providing the required waiver ahead of time so there weren't any surprises when I arrived. Five stars before I even touched a pig! I arrived about 15 minutes early and checked in at the farm store. The staff couldn't have been friendlier. They encouraged me to wander around the property until my session started, which turned out to be a great suggestion. There were goats. Cows. Adult pigs. A donkey named Pamela. And plenty of opportunities to wander around smiling at animals living their best lives. When it was time for my session, everything started right on schedule. My farm guide explained how to safely hold the piglets and then basically said..."Have fun!" Don't mind if I do! The best part? I wasn't rushed at all! I had the opportunity to hold any of the piglets I wanted but settled in with the tiniest little guy of the bunch. Three and a half pounds. Curled up in my arms. Completely asleep. For most of the twenty-minute session. I don't know if he chose me...or if I chose him...but we were best friends by the end. The staff member even offered to take photos for me, which I appreciated so much since I was visiting on my own. Instead of trying to awkwardly balance a piglet while taking selfies, I was able to simply enjoy the experience and leave with wonderful memories! PRO TIP: Arrive a little early so you have time to explore the rest of the property. The piglets may be the headline attraction, but they're definitely not the only adorable residents you'll meet. At $25 per group (up to four people), I honestly think this is one of the best values for a unique experience you'll find anywhere. Whether you're bringing kids, your partner or just embracing your inner animal lover like I did, it's twenty minutes of pure joy! Now...I do have one confession. After I got home...I may or may not have Googled plans for building a piglet house. I'm not saying I'm getting a pet pig. I'm just saying...the research has begun. Until then, I'll happily keep coming back to Destiny Dairy Bar whenever I need a piglet fix!

The car show gets a few hundred cars. If you want to enter your car it's $20 cash at the gate. They give you a small tin plaque and a registration card for your window. Since my car isn't winning any awards I don't stay till 3 pm to await the judges choices. My car is nice, but not prize winning nice but that's ok. It's a fun few hours. It got too hot by noon to stay longer. Weather in early May is tricky. Highly recommend checking out the car show. The general store on the grounds is huge. Bought lots of stuff to take home.

We spent most of the first few hours walking around the zoo that had a huge chicken range, duck pond, cow, goats, sheep and horses. There are vending machine to buy corns to feed the animals. We had to get our own quarters as the coin exchange machine was broken. Around the noon we head to the Linvilla Grill. They had some good pizza and chicken tenders. There were few outdoor benched to dine. Price was little steep. The freshly squeezed lemonade was outrageous. They make the whole thing by grinding lemon right in front and put it in a huge plastic 32 oz jar. It is so worth for $8. We also bought some peaches and cooking sauces from the market. Cash is preferred, for credit card they charge fee at the market checkout.

We arrived about 1pm and there was a steady stream of folks coming and going. Check-in process was very straightforward (showed QR code from previously purchased ticket). Highly recommend getting your tickets ahead of time online for a timed (but not strict at all) ticket. We were not interested in the boats, the tractor (dusty!) rides, we were just focused on the tulips. $1 per tulip if you pick more than 10 $2 per tulip if you pick less than 10 There were 4-5 different large sections that had row up on row of different varieties and colors of tulips. Stations with plastic containers to assist you with holding the tulips you've picked, then tables with rolls of brown paper to wrap your tulips and rubber band the bouquets. Checkout was super fast and easy and friendly, there are food trucks in a couple different spots (we got fruit smoothies which were excellent). All in all I had a really great time and look forward to returning for the sunflowers and zinnias!

And spoiler: this ain't Holland. 1) 4 hour round trip not worth War Gas. 2) It's only for kids and families really. Check out the durrrr Tulip Down, besotted stumbling sickly chickens and questionable slide) 3) Dirty. 4) Dirt all over - nothing paved. Why they don't have people sign releases is beyond me. While I spent time commuting to D.C. for business by car and train during the day, upon my return, I was able to enjoy field-view sunsets and quiet nights. The price was reasonable for what was offered and the location enables easy shopping at a few top grocery stores and major hardware stores. The only caveat here is that the public roads approaching the farm have some distinct blind spots, so be careful driving and honk your horn on tight turns. The driveway needs some deep worn areas filled in with stone to make it more level, but otherwise it is very accessible.
