On my hunt to find a going away present that represented Sacramento I stumbled into Old Town Trainstop. Many of the the other souvenir shops in Old Sac are sort of overwhelming and overflowing with little junk items - the Trainstop is a quieter, kinder edition of those. They had some really neat postcards and little figurines, as well as t-shirts. A variety of items to choose without as much of the nonsense items on top of them. Also to note, the piggy bank I did end up purchasing was a dollar cheaper than it was in some of the other stores.
More importantly, the woman who works here was way helpful! When she saw me trying to take the sticky tag off after my purchase (you know those barcode ones that come on the gifts and seem to never, ever come off) she put a great deal of effort, and nifty little tricks, into getting all of that stickiness off - and she did, like magic! She first was going to bubble wrap my bank for safety, and when she found out it was for a present, she found another cooler bag in the store so she could wrap it up neatly for me to give away. It was super nice of her to go above and beyond to make sure my gift was the best it could be.
Overall, super cute little shop with super sweet people in there! read more
