Love, love, LOVE this place! Old Town BBQ has officially become my family's favorite place to eat, and I honestly don't understand why there isn't a line out the door every time we go. First off, the service is amazing. The guy who takes our order is kind and welcoming, which makes the whole experience even better. Now the food...WOW! My husband and I are obsessed with the tri-tip dinner. The meat is delicious, especially when you dunk it in their BBQ sauce. And let me tell you, the sauce is EVERYTHING. You can choose your heat level (Warning: hot is HOT). I even mix a couple scoops into the baked beans and it takes them to a whole new level. Also, I've never been a macaroni salad person, but I could literally eat theirs by the truckload The garlic bread is perfectly toasted on the outside while still soft on the inside, and the hot links are very good as well. For me, a BBQ place lives or dies by its sauce and Old Town BBQ absolutely delivers. I truly hope this place gets all the success it deserves because we will 100% keep coming back. We finally tried Old Town BBQ and WOW... the food was absolutely amazing. Highly, highly recommend. The meat was cooked to perfection--super tender, juicy, and full of flavor. Nothing was dry at all. We ordered the Mac Daddy sandwich and it was next level. It had tri-tip that was insanely soft and flavorful, plus everything you could want stacked into one sandwich, all on a toasted garlic bun. Every bite was perfect. It also had a hot link with macaroni salad and it did NOT disappoint. The flavors were on point across the board. We tried their BBQ sauces--half-and-half and hot--and both were incredible in their own way. We also got a bowl with BBQ chicken, rice, and beans, and let me tell you... those chili beans are TO DIE FOR. So rich and delicious. Yes, it's a little on the pricier side, but honestly? 100% worth it. The quality speaks for itself. Service was great, the vibe was chill, and even though it started filling up while we were ordering, everything came out fresh and delicious. Had to try this new BBQ spot in the forgotten 16th century food court. The location has plenty of parking and indoor and outdoor seating. The Tri tip was good but the sauce made it excellent, I myself love some sauce on my BBQ. Everyone has their own preference for Tri tip, but it was tender and juice so that's a win. Will need to come back and try some wings. Service was quick for being lunch time and the seating area is quiet and relaxing even more so outside. Do yourself a favor and visit this bbq spot! I ordered an 8pc wings and they are absolutely without a doubt the BEST lemon pepper and Garlic Parm wings I have ever had. The staff were super nice and the wings themselves were a good size. I came here once before and got a chicken sandwich and got the 50/50 bbq and the bbq sauce was boss! The son of the owner took our order. He was great to deal with. We thought we were going to Buster's, but he relayed to us who they were, and gave us the menu with their story on the back. I got a rack of pork ribs. My partner Gary got 4 beef ribs and some hot links. I am telling you right now that this meat is SO TENDER AND SO DELICIOUS. It gave us the feeling of satiation that we were hoping for, and then some. The sauce is so good. I already saved their number in my contacts and we will be going back, again and again. $30 bucks for a rack of pork ribs, WORTH EVERY PENNY. I've got tons of left overs. They took care of me right away. They have a nice little patio to eat outside too. There is a plenty of seating and plenty of parking during busy hours. Man oh man. I ain't never coming back here. The ribs were trash. Drier than a pack of beef jerky. I come here for the food not the service so that's what im talking about. First, these ribs ain't got no meat to them. Second any meat you could see was damn near hard to bite off. Thank god I don't have veneers, my teeth would've gone down with em. Hard as hell to bite, and get full off of. Cost around 22$ for that meal and the second photo you see is the texture of the meat and whatever I could get to bite from it. The photo is an illusion because they lay up on the side that is long and flat, covered with meat, when in reality that layer of meat is so damn thin you get bamboozled soon as you flip it! I was sent this place by my husband to try it as we like BBQ however we were not impressed by it. We went later so we were last customer and they were able to make us sandwiches for us. It was too cooked and the side of beans was not the best in my opinion. I was not aware that Fernando, the owner has two other locations. I met him and Dulce and both were nice. I came to this shopping center for something else, but the smells coming from Old Town BBQ were so enticing we had to stop in for some food. We ordered a 4-meat combo to go. Staff was very friendly and professional. We had to wait for a bit for our food, and when we finally picked it up, the man behind the counter asked if we wanted something to drink. It sounded like he was offering a complimentary soda for the longer-than-usual wait, but it wasn't super clear, and we didn't need a beverage so we declined. Got home and dug in to the food. Nicely prepared, good flavor, and great beans & bread. We tried the tri-tip, chicken, pork ribs and hot links. I didn't try the hot links but ate everything else. My only critique is the meat wasn't as tender as I'd hoped. Chicken was pretty perfect. Tri-tip was a little bit to bite through and the ribs were for sure not fall off the bone. Overall good BBQ. One word, Flavorful. I decided to be a big back today and order the Mac Daddy from here and a Tri tip sandwich from Marshalls. I would return to this place. I had been wanting to try this place since they opened, as I usually travel from Ventura to Santa Paula to get my BBQ fix, and I love B&J, so I finally got the chance and I'm very happy with the results. I got a bowl with 3 meats, veggies and rice, no beans and it was delicious. The tri-tip was cooked perfectly, nice and pink, very tender with great flavor. The chicken and hot link were also delicious, though I do like my hot links cooked just a little more, with a bit of char on them. I also picked up some mac salad, potato salad and corn ribs. Loved the first 2, particularly the mac salad, but the corn ribs were not good at all, and we ended up throwing them away. The sauce on them was pretty gross, leaving them inedible. Let me start off by saying, I wouldn't have eaten here in a million years because I didn't know about this hidden gem and because most restaurant experiences in a post-Covid world are kind of disappointing. A friend paid for the family to have dinner. Multiple family members sampled the items and everyone was in agreement that the tri-tip, the big pork ribs, beef ribs, and hot links were the best. Chicken had a good smoky flavor but was a tad dry today. Bread needed a bit more butter, some pieces needed more time and others less. It was 50/50 on the macaroni salad, potato salad, and baked beans...everyone has their own individual preference. The universal disappointment was the chili beans, they need a better flavor. When compared to Buster's BBQ across the street...I would come here first. And a big part of that is because not only was the food overall better for taste, portion wise and price wise...the customer service was top notch. They didn't mess up a big order (I've had problems with Busters on small & big orders). Wanted to give a newer bbq place a try. The Santa Maria style trip tip was below par. No visible smoke ring and just didn't have the tenderness other places have. (Best bbq and Busters). The amount for the price was unacceptable as well. 5 slices for 32$ on a two meat combo? It's like they sliced it then threw it back on the grill, a huge no if your advertising as a real bbq place. The beef ribs had almost no meat and were very tough. Baked bbq beans were just ok and the macaroni salad, the pasta was kind of hard maybe undercooked. Finally decided to check this place out and I was not disappointed. First off, the service was great. The guy who was taking the order was very courteous. I overheard his interaction with several people ahead of me ordering as well as with people who were picking up their orders. I ordered the pork ribs dinner to go, with baked beans, potato salad and cole slaw. A minute or so after I ordered, he informed me that they had run out of pork ribs and the next batch would take maybe 20 minutes. I thought about changing my order but luckily he talked me into sticking with the pork ribs - I had the time to wait so that helped too. When it was ready they gave me some tri tip slices as well as an extra piece of their bread, which was very nice of them to do. Got home and saw how much food I had and knew right away I would have leftovers. Ok, food review time: pork ribs were very good, maybe a little dry but add some bbq sauce and that helped. Tri tip was very good. Both meats were very tender and easy to chew. Baked beans I really liked as well. Potato salad and Cole slaw were as expected. Overall I highly recommend this place and am looking forward to finishing the rest of my food tomorrow, as well as visit g again in the future. read more
