Not too light not too heavy. The pizza toppings were really good. Each of the three pizzas we ordered were delicious. We got the 5 cheese, spinach dip pizza, and the prosciutto crudo. All good and flavors complemented each other. I'm really curious what the others taste like and will be back again in the future. Luckily with locations throughout, it won't be too difficult to get to one. If they match the quality of this experience, I'll be one happy person. I've heard people say equally good things about the other items on the menu, so looks like there will be plenty of reasons to find myself heading to Cibo in the future.

It specializes in belly-delicious dishes. This is a hidden gem in Quezon City, and a good place to hang out or celebrate with family because of its quiet and homey ambiance. While waiting for my friends to arrive, we were served with their home-brewed iced tea. It has a fruity, not-so-sweet taste, and the added slices of fruit in the drink made it to an eye-candy as well. We were also served with the softest pan de sal with butter. The bread is soft and fluffy. I was immediately taken to bread heaven and thinking of the things I can eat with it. Once we are complete, we started having breakfast (at lunch). Full Belly Craft Kitchen serves all-day breakfast meals, but if you visit them for breakfast (7am-10am), they offer free coffee. What a deal! Our breakfast tasting included: - Homemade Spanish Sardines (Php240) : Homemade Milkfish or Bangus Belly cooked in olive oil and spices served with atchara, garlic rice and 2 sunny side-up eggs : Something to wake up to every morning, the bangus belly is soft and tender and do not have a fishy smell nor aftertaste. The garlic rice is fluffy and is lightly seasoned. The garlic is not overpowering. A good dish for me, for someone who doesn't love bangus belly. - Full Belly Tapa (Php245) : Grilled belly of beef served with 2 eggs and garlic rice : according to Sir Robert, they made these tapa themselves, and it shows on the tenderness of the belly and the tender-meatiness of the beef. The soy sauce mixture and garlic rice accompanied the dish well. A truly satisfying and filling dish. - Bacon Spinach and Cheese Fritata (Php185) : Baked eggs with cheddar, maple bacon, and spinach, served with pan de sal : One of my favorite dishes throughout the day. Cheese, spinach, and egg is already a good combination, but the addition of strips of bacon just dropped the bomb. The dish is light yet flavorful; all the ingredients can be tasted and has a comforting feeling in the mouth. After breakfast, we had lunch, and started off with an appetizer called Baked Mussels (Php240) : Chilean mussels with mashed potatoes topped with mornay sauce, mozzarella cheese, bacon bits, and truffle oil : My favorite dish! The problem with food tasting is that there are too many dishes to try so most dishes ended up with leftovers, but not this dish. I owned it and don't plan on sharing. Haha! This is a heavy dish because of the mashed potatoes and the cheese, but I was hypnotized by the creaminess of the potatoes, velvety-ness of the cheese, freshness of the mussels, saltiness and chunkiness of the bacon, and the sweet aroma of the truffle oil that I couldn't stop eating. :-) To wake me up from hypnosis, we had Ensaladang Bagnet (Php210) : Crispy Pork Belly served with Mustard Leaves, Onions, Cherry Tomatoes, Salted Egg, and Balayan Bagoong : a light dish that is full of flavor. The mustard leaves complement and contrast the bagnet; onions and tomatoes balances out the otherwise bagnet's cholesterrific nature; the salted egg is mostly there for color as the taste is light. The saltiness came from the baggong but only comes with a light taste. A wonderful appetizer to start and prepare for the good things to come. For the main event, we had a good combination of meat and vegetables, as not to satiate us out. You will notice that each dishes is carefully thought of and crafted as the ingredients complemented each other: - 12-hr Beef Roast (Php650) : Slow-roasted belly of beef cooked au jus, roasted veggies and potato puree : the highlight of the menu; something this good cooked for 12 hours allow the belly to be tender. It is cooked in its own juice so it is flavorful as well. - Tuna Belly Al Ajillo (Php285) : Grilled tuna belly served with lots of garlic on a sizzling plate : Among all the bellies, I like tuna the most, and this one is spot on! I like the sweet-sour-salty combination of the dish. Though some complained to be salty, I feel the taste is just right, well maybe because I ate it with garlic rice. - Bagnet ni Kenneth (Php320) and Beef Belly Rice (Php80) : Chef Kenneth is the original creator of their version of this double-fry, crispy pork belly dish, so it was named in his honor. The skin is very crispy even when no longer hot. The meat is so tender that it falls right off. It is served with a tomato and salted egg salsa. The belly rice, however, is just ok for me. It tasted like rice cooked with the beef's juice topped with some beef bits. A little bland. - Binagoongang Bagnet (Php360) : Crispy bagnet pork belly with grilled eggplant, morning glory (kangkong), cherry tomatoes and bagoong : salty yet flavorful, best paired with rice. - Wing Beans in Coconut Cream (Php175) : Sigarilyas cooked in coconut cream served with pork chicharon : What complemented the dish together is the bagoong alamang sauce.

Hehe. Vagabond means wanderer or traveler, which is what I like to do. So I felt I can connect with this restaurant. The ambiance is very colorful with painting displays and various mardi gras hats where you can take a picture with. Service is exemplary, the best I have seen in any restaurants. Servers were very attentive and will approach you at a snap of a finger. They also quickly bus out dishes to avoid clutter on your table. Refilling of water is quick so you won't go thirsty. The food, well, is another topic. They are cheaper and more reasonably priced than its competitors. But the taste has much to improve: - Saigon Salad - I got lost here. If you say Saigon, I would think that it is Vietnamese-inspired. The salad is actually a deconstructed Vietnamese spring roll, only it has a deep ginger flavor which is not found in Vietnamese cuisine. Lemongrass would have been a preferred taste. - Boracay Chori Burger - I got lost here as well. Don't get wrong, the burger was good, although it needs more binding ingredients since it was flaky and tearing apart as you bite into it. However, when you say chori (from chorizo), I would expect it to be garlicky or sweet, but none of these flavors were tasted, only spice. So maybe name it Boracay Chili Burger as not to set a wrong expectation? - Quattro Formaggio Dip - I arrived late and therefore didn't try the bread it was served with, but I did try the dip. It was gooey, cheesy, and garlicky. I would assume it went well with the bread sticks. This is a must-order! - East Coast Dip - a good dip as well like the quattro formaggio. Very clean in taste and creates an appetite. - Chicken Ibiza with Chorizo Pilaf - the best I have tried at Vagabonds. The chicken was crispy yet tender and flavorful. The mushrooms on the side complemented the chicken and the chorizo pilaf. Rice was also good but buttery. - Mediterranean Pasta - basically, seafood aglio olio. Made with seafood, garlic, and olive oil. I loved it on first bite, unfortunately, it ended there. I love its very seafood-y flavor, you can taste the richness of the sea, however, you can also taste the sea...salt. It gets saltier as you consume it. The pasta was not al dente, it was mushy. It's like the fettucine melted into starch then mixed with oil. Ewww. And although it was less oily than my friends who had it previously, it was still oily. - Tokyo Beef Steak, Southern Style Beef Steak, and Steak and Rice - I think steak is the expertise of Vagabonds as they were generally well. It has a beefy taste and it was tender. The only problem we had with the steaks was that it took a pretty long time to get to our table. It was actually the last to arrive among everything that we ordered. I mean I have already finished consuming the burger and pasta and the steak hasn't arrived. And when it did, it was no longer hot. I know you need to "sit" the steak, but it was near cold already when served. The sauces were also good as they accompanied the steak perfectly. The Tokyo rice was strange though. My aunt described it as "pastry dough". The rice was near-crispy (tutong) with a lemon-y taste. It was too buttery, and smelled like a fresh bread out of the oven. - Wonka's Delight - dark chocolate pudding topped with white chocolate and graham crackers. It was good. I like that they use real chocolates in making the dessert. The sad part about this is that their dishes uses a lot of butter and oil. Part of this is that I needed fuel for our busy travel days, but the rest is that the buffet was genuinely excellent. High Street Cafe is a massive restaurant on the lobby level of the Shangri-La. It's the kind of buffet you only see in Vegas or big Asian luxury hotels, an attractive, opulent space with tons of seating and a dozen different stations serving a tantalizing variety of food. Service is quick and attentive. You check in at the front desk and get escorted to a table, where you can order beverages and send any hot made-to-order dishes. The offerings are wide-ranging enough for all guests to get the genre of breakfast they desire. There is, of course, everything you might expect at a normal hotel breakfast buffet--pastries and cereal, cheese and cold cuts, bacon and sausage, eggs from an omelet station. I don't really go for much of that, at home or abroad, which is why I so often sleep through hotel breakfast. I do get out of bed for Asian food, and High Street has plenty in that department. My favorite part of the buffet is the noodle station, where you can get your own mini noodle soup assembled while you watch, from a selection of rice or egg noodles, chicken, vegetable, or spicy Taiwanese broth, and a small variety of proteins and vegetables. I tried several different permutations and liked them all, though I preferred the egg noodles to the rice noodles and the soothing chicken broth to the beef broth, which was a little too salty. I added chicken and beef and, better yet, fishcake and springy fish balls, plus bok choy and mushroom, chili oil and calamansi, and other unidentified condiments to boost the broth. There's a congee station, too, and a daily selection of dim sum and fried rice and stir-fried noodles. I did okay with the dim sum, some middling shumai and bao, and the rice and noodles were nice when I felt like a few bites of basic Chinese take-out. I liked the dosa station, where I got really really nice thin, golden dosa filled with spiced potato and accompanied by a couple of savory sauces. The Filipino section is a highlight, welcoming diners to "rice and shine Pinoy style," with a rotating variety of Filipino breakfast dishes, great with the fluffy sinangag, or garlic fried rice. As far as I can tell, Manila isn't a city where you come in as a tourist and find a bounty of small local restaurants serving the national cuisine, and I was glad to get a sampling of it here, at the breakfast buffet of my corporate-owned luxury hotel. Over the course of five breakfasts, I tried picadillo, chicken tocino, bistek tagalog, smoked bangus, corned beef, tuyo, and pork adobo, and helped myself to the kamayan corner, with its array of dried fish and pickles and vinegary condiments. There's a grab-and-go dessert buffet as well as a juice area, where I got a couple shot glasses of random juices and once, a weird chia seed thing that looked better than it tasted. For the most part, I finished my breakfast with sliced fruit from the fruit bar. Cantaloupe and watermelon, pineapple and papaya, orange and white guava, all of it pretty fresh and sweet. I doubt I ever ate enough to get my money's worth if I were paying separately for breakfast, but I enjoyed my daily noodle soup and rice and shine, as well as grazing across the other stations. European dining in the Philippines has always been equated with expensive fine-dining. But to my astonishment, the price was actually reasonable. I mean, it's not affordable and one would be crazy or filthy rich to eat in this kind of place every day. But for special occasions, I would recommend this place. My most recent visit was during my wife's birthday. It was a table for two and we had a late lunch. After a few moments of browsing through the menu, she asked for Croquette Salad, while I went for Butter-baked Oysters. For main, she had Vanilla Brick Spring Chicken, or grilled chicken served with vanilla bean dots. I ordered the Potence, the house specialty. It's basically steak where the meat is served hanging from a potence, or metal frame, and then set alight (by the waiter) with brandy. Their Pomelo Fruit Juice is a must try. I would recommend having a reservation when dining at Chateau 1771. While the place typically fills up during dinner, I find it perfect for a late afternoon hangout. The garden patio and the dining area of the restaurant are especially beautiful and romantic at night, when they are bathed in a soft yellow glow from the lights. I ordered the mushroom pasta, delicious and filling, with the serving just a little more than enough for one. The smoky and fresh flavor of the roasted tomato soup is also a winner. Being a pesca-vegetarian, I didn't get to taste the lengua, which is the restaurant's bestseller, and which friends attest to.
