In a city where the longevity of a restaurant usually does not endure past a few decades, Old Swiss Inn is one of those places that proudly defies this stereotype. Serving quality Swiss food since 1946, Old Swiss Inn is one of those places that has endured, without ever having to scrimp on the quality of its food. It was here that I had my first taste of fondue, both beef and cheese. The Waatlander Fondue, an imposing bowl of emmenthal and gruyere cheese spiced with kirsch, was one of those dishes that excited me as a young child. Spearing pieces of bread into the boiling bowl of cheese was exciting, and paired with pickled pearl onions and cornichons, began a beautiful love affair with smelly cheese. The Fondue Bourguignonne, tenderloin cubes served with a carousel of different sauces, was a delicious take on beef fondue. The Old Swiss Inn also serves one of the best Reuben Sandwiches in Manila, their house-made Swiss corned beef still evokes mouthwatering memories in me to this very day.
Another great thing about the Old Swiss Inn is that it's open 24 hours, so if you want to wind down after a night of hard partying and still have a budget for it, you should definitely go to the Old Swiss Inn. read more
