If you are familiar with the Des Moines metro the Graziano Bros name should be one you already know. Established in 1912 they are a fixture here when it comes to Italian sausage. The ordering process was smooth and the menu was displayed well. The wait wasn't long. I ordered the fried ravioli (beef filled) with marinara and an Italian Chop sandwich. The Italian Chop is almost exactly what it sounds like. It's served cold. Chopped mortadella, pepperoni, capicola, salami, provolone, tomato, onion, pepper rings, and lettuce. Tossed in a creamy Italian dressing. Served on a hoagie roll. The ravoli was served terrifyingly hot. Lol It's a bold tangy marinara. The sandwich is perfect for what it is. Service was excellent for a truck and typical of when there's a line. Busy. Not much time to small talk. Graziano Bros offers, sausages, cheeses, breads, meatballs, etc. plus dry goods offered in wholesale amounts for additional savings. They've been open for eight months and they sell SO MANY different things. If you love Asian grocery stores, you're sure to love this place. First of all, the store is very clean and well-organized. There is so much to look at. There are many kinds of sweet treats and candies. I almost screamed when I saw the banana and green tea Kit Kats. I'm crazy about the green tea ones. I found them once at C Fresh Market but haven't seen them there again. I know World Market has them but they're so expensive there. My husband bought the banana Kit Kats and I think I love them more than the green tea ones. Second, the prices are very reasonable for stuff that's from Asia. I know the owners must be paying a fortune for the tariffs, so I'm grateful for the good prices. Speaking of the prices, I LOVE that they have most of their items priced. There's nothing I hate more than finding things that I want to buy in a store and not knowing what the price is. They also have a scanner at the counter for you to scan an item if it isn't priced. Third, the owner is nice and helpful if you have a question about something. I like C Fresh Market but I can never find anyone to help me when I'm looking for something. And if I do happen to find someone, they don't speak English. This store is smaller than C Fresh but it still has rows and rows of goodies to look at. I originally went there to find the viral fruit-shaped ice cream, but it cost a lot more than I was willing to pay. So I left with other treats instead. They also have a lot of different types of noodles and many varieties of ramen. They have a drinks aisle with the typical drinks most Asian grocery stores have. I browsed their menu ahead of time on their Facebook page. They seem to be really good about posting their weekly schedule of locations for lunch and some afternoons/evenings out there too. I'm human so sometimes I get a little judgmental from the jump. I looked at their prices and started second guessing my lunch choice. I'm kind of a big eater and while I understand the small business model, overhead, etc. I'm always thinking about bang for my buck too. I decided on the beef brisket sandwich served on a hoagie roll with a drizzle of horseradish sauce ($10) and a large order of onion rings ($6). The staff was great. Personable and provided updates as I waited. They have pagers available if you'd rather wait inside your car instead of out in the weather. They accept cash or cards. The menu is easy to read and the condiments are staged near the window. The wait was short and the portion sizes sure didn't leave me hanging. I was asked if I wanted jalapeños mixed in. I thought she meant in the meat of the sandwich... Nope. Lightly breaded and fried jalapeño slices with the onion rings! The sandwich was STACKED with perfectly cooked lean tender brisket. The horseradish sauce was light and not overpowering. The fried onion rings and jalapeños were really good. My stomach will pay for that 2nd choice later though...along with anyone sharing space with me. The serving of rings was so large I couldn't finish them.
