This is an email I sent them after an appointment last week. Obviously I was concerned about the way my dog was treated but they didn't have the courtesy to respond. Take it for what it's worth: Good Evening I know Cooper is a big dog and when he gets nervous he can seem pretty aggressive. I do apologize for that and I'm sure he's a lot to handle for a 5 o'clock appointment. However, the truth of it is he's a pretty big big scaredy cat and I think the techs could've done more to calm him down and develop a rapport with him. I do appreciate the techs willingness to give him a bath on such short notice but Cooper was already a little uneasy when the first tech rounded the corner to come get him and very quickly reached for him. From this point on we were in trouble. He wouldn't cooperate with her so I walked him down the hallway when the second vet came to take him. She made almost no effort to calm him down before shortening his leash by wrapping it around her hand and then literally tugging him down the hall while he had all four legs spread to stop himself. To make matters worse he was wearing a pinch collar and I'm sure he was in a certain amount of pain getting yanked around like that. At this point they assured me that they could take it from here so I went back to the lobby. It sounds like they tried for a couple of minutes to get him in the bath but when he was still uncooperative they gave up and decided they'd just weigh him, give him the shot and be done with it. However, by this point he was so freaked out he wouldn't even get on the scale so they had to come get me so I could get him on the scale for long enough to weigh him. He had a muzzle on at this point and it's true that I didn't have much success in calming him down either. We did get him on the scale long enough to weigh him but I stuck around to try and help with the rest of the process. One of the techs tried to give him the shot with me holding him and when that didn't work she asked me to leave and when she did that I noticed her hand was shaking. I'm sure all your staff knows that animals are very good at detecting this sort of nervous energy and oftentimes it makes them uneasy too. I walked up front I guess imagining this situation was sort of normal, waited for them to bring Cooper back to the lobby, removed his muzzle, politely paid, and left. It wasn't until I got home and took him for a walk around the block that I realized other visits to the vet and/or groomer in the past haven't been nearly as traumatic for anyone involved as this trip had been. I decided then that it would probably be best for everyone, especially Cooper if we tried somewhere else next time. I can't imagine he'll ever feel at ease walking through those doors again. I suppose I did learn from this experience that I should probably explain that he can be a little skittish and to approach him calmly in the future when introducing him to people that are going to poke and prod him. And I'll certainly never have him wearing a pinch collar to the vet again either. I thought I'd reach out and explain what happened because I know as business owners you always want to know how you can do better and so you wouldn't have to wonder when I request his transcripts sent over to the Loop. I was very disappointed with how I was treated by this vet. I scheduled a new patient appointment for my dog for an exam and vaccines, and I arrived 5 minutes late. When I got there, I was told the doctor had already left for the day because I was late. They did not even take the time to call me to say she was leaving. I asked if they would at least administer a simple vaccination, and they would not. read more

Heartless...just heartless. They wouldn't see my seizing dog without $224 after I've been a customer for 5 years!

I made an appointment for annual heartworm check so I could purchase heartworm prevention for my pets. I had used the same vet for over 20 years and he retired so I was hoping this would be our new vet...BUT NO! There were a few red flags...first, the vet drew the blood and really seemed to have a hard time because she was so rushed. My old vet did the effortlessly. Then while I was checking out I learned that I was not allowed to purchase heartworm preventative....REALLY?? They said I was not scheduled for a office visit and I would have to come back and have the doctor check the pet out. I have no issue with following rules but why in the world would they schedule me the "wrong type" appointment when they were aware of what i needed when I called to make the appointment. I felt this was a money game and very tricky! I ended up leaving with a $200 bill and no heartworm medication. This vet was so rude and unprofessional! The sunshine of this horrid event is that I was talking to my neighbor, which had a bad experience there also, highly recommended Dr. John B. Symes at Beltline Animal Hospital. HE IS WONDERFUL!!! (Cross also lied on the documentation she sent to the new vet but we all just laughed at how ridiculous Mary Katherine Cross behaved.) read more
