Fun at the arcade celebrating special days.

The name describes it well. Old school arcade and pinball machines. Fun atmosphere. Great for gatherings or parties too! The old school games were in great shape and working order! Check it out!

Limited edition start trek pinball... need I say more?

This place is just pure old school awesomeness with some new and fun pinball games thrown in. The owner is super laid back and cool and if you are in the Des Moines area, go check this place out. I was passing thru the Des Moines area the last few days and had a few hours to kill before going to the airport and this place popped up on my Yelp search of cool things to do. My son and I spent about 3 hours and we could have spent more had we had the time. Lots of fun pinball games (my favorite) the VIP room has the newer pinballs including the awesome limited edition Star Trek game. Not only does he have the games, he also provides old school soda bar with malted milk shakes and hand made sodas like raspberry-lime Ricky. We opted for the chocolate malt which was delicious. If you go, when you go... Enjoy the nostalgia and experience.

Four of the five "premuim" pinball machines that you pay-to-play (most days).

At the invite of a friend, I finally went to check out this place out on a weeknight when they were doing discounted admission. They have some excellent games here that are all free to play once you pay to get in, and a small room of (at the time) five newer pinball machines that normally cost extra to play. During this night, they were all on free play. I had a great time and consider it money well spent, though, due to the cost, I wouldn't be able to visit as often as I would like. The target audience is more like occasional visitors doing birthday parties and such (i.e., kids and group outings). No booze, but there is a bar next door ;-) Most of the games were in good shape, though some did not have volume. If you normally watch TV or movies with the sound off, this may not bother you, but since the sound and music is such a huge part of the arcade experience, I was a bit disappointed. There was food available from the Mustang Bar and Grill next door (expect to pay around $10 for a burger and fries), and in the arcade was a soda fountain with flavored sodas, phosphates (!) and a huge (HUGE) selection of flavored shakes and malts. They were excellent and priced well. I would definitely stop in just for a shake even if I couldn't spring for arcade admission. This place targets parties and such (like a mini golf place might) and there are times when it is full of young kids making grownups feel kind of creepy if they go alone. But, on the night we were there, only a few other adults were around and it was a blast. The biggest downside is the price. $13 (on weekends) lets you come and go all day and play as much as you want, but for those of us that would rarely play 40 games (that's $5 worth of tokens on 2-for-1 night at Up-Down), the price is a barrier. Likewise is having to pay extra for the newest pinball machines (those new machines can run over $7000 to buy). It should do fine for its target audience (parties and occasional visitors), but I can say if the price were lower (like the $5 admission at Tapcade in Kansas City) I could see visiting here very often. Pricing and machine volume are the only reasons I did not give it five stars. Go check it out! There are some great games here and the shakes are fantastic.

Ultimate Arcade game has like 30 different games to choose from. Games like Qix and Ghosts and Goblins.

If you grew up playing in video arcades, you need to go to this place. It brought back a lot of childhood memories. They have many of the classics like Frogger, Joust, and Dig Dug. They also have many of the "newer" classics like Spy Hunter and Operation Wolf. There is two games that I included pictures for because they are really neat. They have multiple games within the one game system. They are the Ms. Pac-Man game and the Ultimate Arcade game. Very Cool!! The price isn't too bad either. It cost $13.50 for entry on Saturday. That is unlimited games for as long as you want to stay. The only disappointment was the Spy Hunter game was missing the machine gun trigger.

I have been here twice and so many of the games were broken or the controllers didn't work that it was a bit of a letdown.

Walked into Dave & Buster's in the middle of the afternoon on a Saturday. We wanted to grab a…read morequick bite to eat and play some games. Close parking to the front entrance can be hard to find at peak times even with the business being adjacent to Jordan Creek Mall. There's plenty of spots, but you might have to hike a little. My guess is mall guests utilize the parking right in front of Dave & Buster's too while they shop. The gentlemen at the host station said the wait for a table would be 1 1/2 hours despite there being visibly plenty of open tables... Not enough staff to cover all the sections maybe? Or maybe they were reserved...? There were seats open at the bar so we headed that direction. The full food menu is available at the bar too. Seating is mostly larger open booths, high top tables and chairs, and the seating at the bar. Our bartender/server was nice enough. We ordered the following: 1x Cheese Stick Stack - "Extra-large crispy cheese sticks topped with shredded Parmesan. Served with marinara sauce." 1x Bar Burgers & Wings Platter. Wings with honey barbecue - "Smashed burger sliders paired with Bone-In Wings with your choice of sauce or dry rub. Served with seasoned fries and celery sticks with your choice of ranch or bleu cheese." 1x Hottie burger and fries - "Two cajun-spiced smashed burger patties, topped with pickled jalapeños, pepperjack cheese, lettuce, pickles, tomato, onions, jalapeño ranch, and a fried jalapeño." 2x Fountain drinks (Coke products) 1x Dangerous Waters Island Punch - "Malibu Coconut, Blue Curaçao, pineapple, and fresh citrus mix." As nice as our bartender was I think he keyed something in wrong with the Bar Burgers & Wings Platter. The wings were forgotten. They (him and a manager) straightened it out and adjusted our bill a little. The food was all good. The stand out to both of us was the Cheese Stick Stack. This is an awesome app with an epic cheese pull! The wings were REALLY good too... After our food and drinks we spent some time playing games. Just messing around... A good mix of old or new arcade games. Skee ball, basketball games, clown ball toss, whack a mole, water gun race, coin pushes, wheels of chance, etc. The place was clean and there were staff available on the floor if you ran into any problems or had questions. A decent way to kill an afternoon. https://www.daveandbusters.com/

IF you are trying to put together a group of less than 10 you cant utilize their offered company team building . I was informed there would have to be exceptions made to make it work. Once we figured out what would work for us we did 3 smaller groups in the middle of the week in the middle of the day. The atmosphere is loud. Even with no one else really in there. The waitress was fantastic with my group. I explained what we were doing and order the meal and play with play cards for our group. She talked me through what she was going to do and helped make sure it worked out alright. Hang onto your D&B cards, they can be reloaded. You will have to pay a small fee to reload, but no as much if you have reactivate a new card. There are some really big games. You can win "tickets" of course. I thought the place was bigger, but the gaming area is half and the eating/bar is on the other. Circling back on the food. That was a shock. It was really good. Far better than I had thought. I got the burger and was pleasantly full. Everyone in our group of 7 enjoyed their meals. Everyone left happy and full. Again my waitress was very helpful and accommodating. I want to try this again since she said the team building is actually pretty cool. I think I have an idea so that we can meet the team minimums.

This location is nicely situated in the heart of Johnston and offers a fantastic menu and a wide variety of house made beers and they even have some guest beers on tap. (nice touch). They have mini bowling here and the venue is a grand 2 story building with high lofted ceilings and huge rollup doors to let the outside in. But not today...to hot ! Why only 3 stars? We opted to sit at the bar, because that is what we do. After a while the bar tender finally took our orders, and honestly he was not busy enough from my perspective to warrant that long of a wait. After the initial pause (and honestly we did almost get up ad leave) He was decent enough but left us wanting a more attention the entire time. Moving on.... If you are not aware Backpocket originally started in Coralville and are the original sponsors of the Iowa Craft beer tent that follows along RAGBRAI. I have earned several shirts over the years! #earnedit. IYKYK. Today we were just after beers, but after we saw some of that fancy Mac and Cheese come out we decided to top off the bellies and share a bowl! So glad we did, the Honey Pepper Mac and Cheese is worth the calories and then some. DELICIOUS! Of course the beers were good as always. All in all a good experience and I hope the next time we visit the service is just a bit more hospitable.

We had a few plates of the loaded nachos with chicken and with beef... They were heaped high and delicious. Plenty on each plate for two or three people. All of them are very tasty. We also got some cheese balls. They were pretty much the standard fair but also very good. Drinks are another great bargain during the happy hour with discounted beer and mixed drinks. All the drinks were very tasty. Our server was Bailey. She was very pleasant, fun, and enthusiastic. The food came out very quickly, and the drinks came off the bar in a very reasonable time as well. There is a large U-shaped bar and plenty of booth and table seating along with that outdoor patio.
