I have lived here for 6 years and only recently found this gem of a park. It was so beautiful and the trails were not hard to climb. Bring water, bug spray, and sturdy shoes and enjoy the boardwalk trails. The site has a beautiful spot for a wedding and I saw one being set up near the water. It was a great day and even kids can enjoy it.

This park in a quiet rural area outside of Charleston claims to have been the first canal in the country. As with most of the area's older infrastructure, it is largely returned to nature and it mostly a swamp. This one has an extensive boardwalk, which is very much enmeshed in the wilderness. It has metal mesh placed on inclined because it gets wet and slippery. Numerous overlooks of the wetlands are available, and you can walk on a trail by the nearby river as well, which has some fitness installations asking you to hang on a bar and such. There is an educational center near the start, which didn't have a huge amount going on when I was there. It's a nice piece of terrain, and I would have left and written a lesser review, but there is also a museum which I had thought about leaving without trying. Inside, I got something of a personalized rundown, and the museum was about as much information as you could stuff into one house-sized building, covering not only war history but also a lot of very interesting public health stuff. As such, I got a workout of my legs and my memory. Many fairly standard caveats apply; you'll need to be ready for bugs if doing anything outdoors in South Carolina. The state parks here are generally quite nice, but they also charge admission by person, not by car, which can get expensive. For anyone living in the area, a park pass is worth considering. For me, it was well worth the five bucks.

We went during the week which isn't bad but not being able to get out and see Santa or the rest of all going on was a little disappointing. I do understand that people have to work so the weekends are the busy and best times to go. We did enjoy the lights but found several to be out as well as half of the nativity scene they typically have being out as well. I

I love bringing my dog here for a hike through nature with not many other people or dogs around. He loves smelling everything and seeing gators on occasion! It's a great place for families because some trails are easy and some are a little harder, but all the trails can be done by beginner hikers and nature lovers.

We enjoyed stopping here on a Sunday and checking it out the natural scenic area. Pay $3 at the gate, plenty of parking. The park has some covered picnic areas, and then plenty of open spaces. I wanted to walk the marshy area, and see some nature. There's a dock on the Cooper River nearby. But the best part I enjoyed was the walk through the swamp, marsh and woods. There are various trails you can take, but the best is right around the swamp. Here there are observation points which you will see more than enough turtles. I'm sure there's other wildlife to witness too, but we didn't see any. The interpretive center is nice, with history about the canal and wildlife info. Overall a nice place to visit, and appreciated what they have to offer.

I have been trying to go on a walk every day. Most days, I just walk around his neighborhood. However, I was excited when I heard the parks reopened. I made a venture to Gahagan Park the first time almost on accident. I needed somewhere to go to get signal, as I don't get good phone service in Lincolnville. So I went to Gahagan Park for the phone signal, but after my virtual appointment, I decided to walk around this park. I found a track wrapping around a football field. I headed towards this because I assumed this would be the best place for walking. I passed a few baseball fields on my way. When I got to the track and started to walk around, I noticed that part of the track veers off. I followed this path to see where it lead. It went by some more baseball fields. It also lead to some public bathrooms and a picnic area. At the end of this walking trail, there is a graveyard. It is fenced in, and I couldn't get in. This is the point where I turn around, as the park ends and the walking path turns into a road. I like coming to Gahagan Park for my daily walks. I have a friend who plays ultimate frisbee here! This is a cool, fun, and relatively safe place to hang out. I definitely recommend checking it out!

Shops and businesses on both sides and when the train goes by it makes it for a perfect small town setting. Try getting that in Chucktown or elsewhere for that matter The Mayor is doing a great job and like everywhere this place is growing and it is like playing catch up all the time yet he still works for the town's success I like Hutchinson Square because it is a quiet place to come and seat under a tree while I wait for the wife to do her shopping or the routine hair salon visit The Square is host of events like concerts where you bring your lawn chair and spend the afternoon with other people from the community. Also festivals that attract food vendors and of course arts and crafts are part of the events that take place regularly The Christmas tree lighting ceremony is one not to be missed

We absolutely love when communities do things like this. I usually call it the "Summerville Square"…read more(not sure if that's the official name), but right in the heart of historic Summerville, local small businesses set up festive Christmas displays, and it's always so nice to see. Our favorite tradition is grabbing something hot to drink and taking Luna for a walk through the area to check everything out. The displays change every year, which keeps it feeling special and worth revisiting. There's usually a Santa's sleigh where we grab a photo, and of course the big star display--people are always impressed that we can take Luna off leash to pose for pictures and that she stays perfectly focused, even with all the noise, crowds, and activity around her. It's a great reminder of how important proper pet training is. Luna can tune everything else out and stay locked in on her commands, no matter the setting. And honestly, this is achievable with any dog--regardless of age or breed--with consistency, patience, and training (which often has more to do with the human than the dog). Such a festive, feel-good spot and a wonderful way to support the local community during the holidays.
