While not the most luxurious place to stay, it served its purpose well as a place to sleep for a night before heading to Neuschwanstein. If you're just backpacking around and don't want to pay the high prices of the hotels in the area, this will be a good choice to have a clean bed and a warm shower.
A few specifics about the hotel:
- There aren't any large lockers to fit a backpack in, but small lockers are available if you put a deposit down
- Towels are available to rent for $1
- Like all the hostels I visited in Germany, you're required to make your bed at first, and take down your sheets at checkout
- At check in, a map of Fussen and the castle area is provided, which was very helpful to figure out where to head, and make sure you catch the right bus. In addition, a discount is given at check in for $1-2 off the castle ticket
- It's a very small hostel, but there's only one toilet and two showers for men
- One odd quirk about the bathroom is that the light in the bathroom turned off quickly, and you have to open bathroom or shower door quickly to activate motion sensor to turn on the light again. Not terrible, but just a bit odd read more
