I am happiest when I am surrounded by mountains, can't explain it, don't care why - but it is true…read more Give me Austria or Switzerland over any other destination, specifically the Tyrol region in Austria where this little gem of a hotel is located. The region is amazing, though Strengen is a small village there is plenty to do in the surrounding areas - especially if you enjoy nature and outdoorsy things!
The Posthotel is located on the main road, you actually really cannot miss it. Though it is on the "main road" do not worry, it is delightfully peaceful as the road is not very busy at all (understatement). Bonus points for looking at the side of a mountain right from your hotel room.. and having the option to dine or enjoy a drink on the outdoor patio with the same view.
More bonus points for delicious food, we had both dinner and breakfast at the hotel. We enjoyed our dinner on the outside patio, the cheese spaetzle and schnitzel were very good and the breakfast was very well taken care of. I do not think I have ever eaten more bread than when I stayed here, it was so fresh and so good! Yay, cheese sandwiches!
The hotel has a spa area with a dry sauna and other amenities which is really nice. It is very common for hotels in mountainous ski regions in EU to have these amenities, I highly recommend finding an inn or a hotel that does. But obviously I would recommend you to stay here, as they really provide a great stay.
The innkeeper, whom is also the chef, is a great guy! We spent a good amount of time talking to him over breakfast - you can tell that he really likes being in this business. Not that I needed another reason, but I will forever remember this hotel since I have a little piece of it on my diningroom table. I liked their salt and pepper shakers so much that I purchased a set ("our" breakfast set, actually - lol) right then and there from them. The innkeeper wrapped them in some newspapers, we had a good laugh about it,and we were on our merry way to Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis for some mountain fun that day.
