It is absolutely beautiful and traditional inside with all the wooden beams etc. We were greeted quickly and sat right in the back by the lovely wood burning fireplace. The menu is amazing and has so many options, it even has a lot of options for vegans which surprised me but it's very good. To start I had the tiger prawns and garlic bread, Both were extremely good. For mains I had the special which was a fish pie and it was hands down one of the best things I have ever eaten. I now dream about this pie and want to fly back just to eat it. For pudding I had apple and sultana crumble which to be honest I didn't like the crumble part, it was too sweet. The service here was very friendly and helpful but at times a little slow, which I didn't mind but could be frustrating to others. I would highly recommend this pub to eat at, the food still doesn't disappoint many years later! Definitely a nice place for socializing too as it is nice and quiet inside so you can actually have a conversation at dinner which is something I always struggle to find nowadays.

Logan, our server, went above and beyond--something that rarely happens enough for me to remember a server's name. As first-time guests, Logan guided us through the menu with care, helping us choose dishes we'd enjoy. He checked in to make sure we were happy with our selections and even served us the most incredible lemonade I've ever had at a pub. It was refreshing and perfectly balanced--a highlight of the meal! The pub itself is full of charm, housed in a historic building steeped in character. Adding to the experience were the many Charles Dickens decorations adorning the walls--a fun nod to the famed author, who hails from this town. The literary touches tied everything together, giving the space a distinct and playful personality. We shared a variety of dishes, including the fish and chips, chicken schnitzel, and a BBQ kebab. Each dish was flavorful, generously portioned, and perfect for sharing.
