Owner is always making upgrades wish is good because it means they are in invested not investing wish is another level!!! Place is extra clean and employees are well educated on what they are doing i got and Old Fashioned with Woodford Reserve Rye and it was well done, for lunch i got the Islander Sampler and it was excellent but the BBQ sauce was out of the bottle kind of sauce it could use some brown sugar or mustard to create a better balance on the flavors.

This place has a lot of potential and for me it lived up to it. I've read through the reviews on Yelp and had a different experience. I did not have food and tried all of the 9 beers on tap. I would say that beer drinking (craft) is very subjective and one can be 2/5 and the other 5/5 depending on your taste and experience. For that, I would say that they have a wide selection of beers for everybody and my favorite was their Chocolate Porter. The staff (during Covid) were very friendly and when I had 2 flights with 8/9 beers tried, brought me out a separate sample cup with the 9th beer to try. I got to try as a tourist all 9 beers and enjoyed the experience of taking pictures of the production while visiting the restroom.

I'm not a big beer guy. But, a few years ago at número uno they had this beer con parcha (passion…read morefruit) that I really enjoyed. So, we are walking around old San Juan and I'm like homie I need the first drink we can find! Enter La taberna lúpulo. First, dude servicing the bar was extra cool. Just friendly and engaged and didn't act like we just business, but friendly. I wasn't even planning on drinking beer. But my homie was like what do you recommend and he poured a sample of some blonde ale and... wheat ale con parcha!! I was like o snap let me have a glass of that. Fire!! I wouldn't call it sweet, but it has that hint. More importantly it was fresh and not funky. I personally find tap beer is usually not fresh tasting and tend to prefer bottles or cans when I drink beer. But that was not a problem here. Tasted brand new and delicious. The location is unbeatable, in the heart of old San Juan. The decor was fun and eclectic. I'm a fan of the elephant personally due to my old school ties with elephant size productions. Oh and it was super inexpensive. It was like $4-$5 a beer iirc. Which is crazy for a trendy neighborhood like this (La factoría around the corner). Great job to the staff at Lúpulo. Highly recommended.

A fine place to stop for lunch. The food wasn't bad, but wasn't anything special. We tried a beer…read morethat I'd rate pretty highly, but it was just something shipped in from the states. The staff was nice enough but far from attentive.

The pizza is solid fresh thin crust - maybe a bit skimpy on toppings & too heavy on the cheese the vegetariano salad we had was challenging. I'm way into making them myself, so I'd recommend chopping the spinach fine, sauté a vegetable or 2 (onion- tomato?) and adding a fat like crumbly cheese, or avocado, or some nuts, etc to make it melt & come together better. The vinaigrette dressing was nice though. And for a place this stylish, it'd be nicer & classier to have a metal fork & real glass for drinks instead of plastic. Lots of potential! Open kitchen is a nice touch.

I came in with my dining adventure partner and she had the Sparkling water with Lime, I had Coke Zero who in the island mostly comes those tall 12oz Red Bull like cans. They had a good selection of appetizers but we skipped it as my Girlfriend isn't an huge fan of loads of cheese. I know the blasphemy right? But they had some vegetarian choices for those that by some reason though that a vacation in the pork kabob and friend meat turnover capital of the world was a good idea. ‍ We had the chorizo pizza that was the daily special with the Herb Crust. That was the MVP clutch play of the game. The crust is light and perfectly seasoned. The sauce is light, with the right amount of acidity and sweetness. There was just enough cheese to be nice. The mozz was fresh and moist not the toasty bag stuff. It was layered with chorizo but somehow it didn't turn the pizza into an Oily mess that we might "liberate" for oil. ( Relax I'm a Marine take a joke ). The staff spoke great English which is good as the place was chuck full of tourists and the wait staff was polite and happy. I mean we all been to places where the wait staff look like they had their soul sucked out by kitchen warlocks. I will def comeback. Next time get my own pizza and not share.
