Absolute deliciousness! Everything from the Old Fashioned, to the Burrata to the Skirt Steak. Come hungry and you won't leave disappointed. My family and I enjoyed this meal!

Had an awesome experience at Old Fields. The ambience is rustic yet modern, dim lighting makes it a cozy spot. For appetizers we got the buttermilk friend calamari that was well seasoned and perfectly crispy. It came with both marinara sauce and aioli. The French onion soup was very flavorful and had a really good tasting piece of bread inside. Entrees were 7oz filet mignon with crispy onions and blue cheese added on top. Had the filet with mashed potatoes. The toppings were definitely worth it! Mashed potatoes had the good homemade taste and texture. Next was the marinated skirt steak with sautéed onions on top. The marinate was great Substituted truffle fries instead of mashed potatoes and the fries were thin, crispy and flavorful. Got sides of broccolini and creamed spinach. Broccolini needed a bit of salt or something, creamed spinach was a bit too salty but overall still good. The cheesecake for dessert was a generous portion. Loved the graham cracker crust and strawberry flavor accent. Server was nice and prompt but also did not rush us Will be back!

I went here one night with a few friends and had an exceptional experience. We shared many types of oysters and they were phenomenal and cold. We then moved on to share a steak, which was cooked perfectly and had a wonderful flavor. Overall the service was wonderful and the staff was friendly. It was expensive but worth the price because the food and service matched the cost.

We've been going to Old Fields for years. The food, service and ambience are always good! It's the price $$$$ that really keeps us from coming back more frequently. But our visit on this night was for our anniversary so it got the green light for our special day. Before even looking at the entrees, my eyes immediately found the creme brûlée. From that moment, I knew I would enjoy my evening even more and I did! Our waiter was friendly and attentive. And I somehow neglected to take a photo of the Lychee Martini that my husband ordered. I'm especially sad I missed this photo op because he actually thought it was more delicious than his seafood paella dinner entree. And while my Berkshire pork chops was delicious, the creme brûlée was my favorite part of the meal. It was one of the best I've had and I've had a lot! LOL! And while our entrees were indeed good, the supporting drinks & desserts actually stole the show for this special night out.

Great dinner! Service was great. Loved the espresso martini with Baileys. GF calamari was really good as well as their steaks!

But if that isn't available, you have to find a spot in the lot and then find the inconvenient sign with a QR code at a $1/hour. The bar was busy when we arrived. We were seated at a table near the windows and were able to see the amazing sunset, as well as the ferry, which both arrived and departed several times during our meal. Our server was Destiny, who was very nice and did her job well. We had ordered some cocktails which took a very long time because there was only 1 bartender attending to the crowd. As for appetizers, we chose the mozzarella steak, the garlic and herb mussels and the cauliflower bites. All were served beautifully and tasted good as well. We also asked for bread and a loaf was served warm with olive oil and a half WELL roasted garlic bulb (most likely used for decoration) but it should have been roasted a lot less for it to be used as a spread. Dinner was the steak frites, twin lobster tails and golden glaze salmon. The steak was served with a salsa verde, the lobster was accompanied by a small gravy boat of drawn butter, a half corn cob and 4 roasted baby potatoes. The salmon, was my dish and was crispy and tasty, served over broccolini stalks and purple forbidden rice. Dessert took a while to come out and we were worried that we wouldn't get back to our car for the expiration of our time. It worked out. 2 of us ordered chocolate cake and I had the cheesecake. The portions were huge! I think what took so long was that they had to open up a new cake because 1 slice was warm and fudgy, while the other was more solid and dense. Not a problem, still delicious. Thank you for a wonderful meal.

My cosmopolitan was delicious as was our fried calamari. My penne a la vodka lacked some taste. I normally like it when it's a little sweeter. I saw it at another and had to ask our waiter for one. The chocolate cake was fine. I feel like this restaurant changes around a lot. Glad I got to eat here.

We were also encouraged to learn that the current owner operates Drift 82 in Patchogue--something we quickly recognized from the menu and viewed as a positive sign, as we've consistently enjoyed our meals there. Our first few visits to Castaways were very good and led us to return several times and recommend the restaurant to friends. However, during a visit last summer with a party of 10, I noticed a decline in food quality. At the time, I attributed it to an "off" day. Unfortunately, our most recent visit with a party of five confirmed those concerns, and we all agreed afterward that we would not be returning. I often order the TNT salad at both Drift 82 and Castaways, so I'm very familiar with the dish. This time, the portion at Castaways was noticeably smaller--about half the size of what I've received previously. The salad is typically well-balanced with tuna and fried calamari, but this version was overloaded with calamari (all rings, no legs - usually not the case when I've ordered it) and contained very little tuna. The small amount of tuna served was an unusually bright pink color, which suggests it had been treated to mask freshness and quality - Google that tidbit if you're unfamiliar and you'll be glad you did. Anyway, as a result, I did not eat the tuna and only consumed the calamari. The lobster bisque was too salty to eat and was ultimately removed from our check. While I understand that bisque may contain minimal lobster, this one included only a spongy piece from a small claw, and the overwhelming saltiness made it inedible regardless. Other dishes at the table were similarly disappointing. The crab spaghetti was heavy with oil and lacked flavor entirely. The sea bass also had no discernible flavor, although the menu states it is pan roasted with green curry. The fish and chips were the lone exception, the diner was happy with it - after he added much needed salt. We had hoped Castaways would continue the strong start we experienced early on, especially given our positive experiences at Drift 82. Unfortunately, the decline in consistency, portion size, and overall quality made this last visit a deciding one for our group. I'm sharing this feedback in the hope that it's taken constructively, as the restaurant clearly has the potential to not rely solely on location, and to be much better than what we experienced.

The chicken Milanese was pretty good for a non Italian restaurant although the Bleeker sandwich was a tad dry but otherwise good. The cheesecake and Irish coffees were well received to round out the evening. I was very impressed that Charlotte went out of her way to ask a staff member ( didn't get his name manager maybe) to double check for the availability of espresso coffee after we were informed they had none. I haven't been here in a very long time so I'm excited to see how the restaurant has stayed in business over the years. We are shown to our table upstairs. The bar area on a Friday night looks fun and active. There's great views of Port Jefferson harbor so the restaurant ambiance is nice. We're seated and are given restaurant week menus as well as the wine/cocktail list. Listen, It's Friday nite and I don't want a wine cooler! Give to me a standard Martini stirred (Shaken is just dumb) with stuffed blue cheese olives. The ladies order appletini's and we're ready to order off the restaurant week menu. The menu has a nice selection of different offerings, I'm into all things local so I'm going to start with the beet salad and Red Snapper. The beet salad was loaded with beets! I love beets, they did a good job with this started dish. I must point out, the dish must have been prepped earlier in the day. The green salad was slighty wilted when served to me. The Red Snapper, what is that sauce on top? And the fish was sitting on a bunch of zoodles?? The fish wasn't seasoned, it wasn't very flavorful. I'm eating around the zoodles, meh. The cheesecake I ordered, it was also just a standard dessert. I didn't finish the fish or my dessert. Review is over, Fifth Season Restaurant? See you in another 5 years.

We started with fresh oysters topped with caviar that were beautifully presented over ice with all the perfect accompaniments--briny, crisp, and incredibly fresh. The cocktails were just as impressive--perfectly balanced and crafted with care (highly recommend going the martini route). For dinner, everything was cooked to absolute perfection. The filet was tender, rich, and melted in your mouth, paired with creamy mashed potatoes and a sauce that honestly should be bottled and sold. The chicken dish was equally outstanding--juicy, flavorful, and finished with a bright lemon touch that tied everything together. And just when we thought it couldn't get better, dessert arrived. He really tried to make sure I had a good experience and invited me back to enjoy the dining room atmosphere. Because of his excellent service, I left him a 45% cash tip and told him I hoped to return. Unfortunately, the entrée was a big disappointment. I ordered the Linguine Vongole. While the pasta itself was good the kitchen had forced most of the clam shells open split. Having to guess which shellfish might make you sick really ruined the meal. Based on the entree I didn't stay for dessert. Unfortunately not being seated where I originally made a reservation for lead me to an atmosphere of rambling of a drunk sharing some pretty wild ramblings. Between the entrée issue and the drunk distractions, I skipped the rest of the meal, though I really hope the service on a return visit matches the kindness of my main waiter.

I tried meals here on three separate occasions, twice on weekends and once during the week. My review depicts the summary of my experiences. Set back in a shopping center, the size of the restaurant is deceiving. The venue is tremendous, and the decor and bar present a welcoming environment. On all occasions, I was greeted right away and walked to my table. On one particular evening, we were seated in the back room. The first thing I noticed were how quickly the food runners were moving through the dining space. There seemed to be an urgency about their movement. The appetizers I've enjoyed were the duck arancini, mushrooms, and the oysters. All served hot, fresh, and the seasoning was on-point. The oysters came with a mini Tabasco sauce bottle and cocktail sauce. I was less enthralled by their entrees, a pattern that was sadly not a one-off or "bad night" for me. The beef Wellington was served well done, even though medium-rare was ordered. On another occasion, I ordered the surf and turf; the filet came out well done instead of medium-rare, and the lobster was rubbery and overly salted. It was served without drawn butter. They cooked another steak for me, but it came out medium (still incorrect) and had no seasoning whatsoever. A bland and tasteless filet after previously eating an underwhelming overcooked beef Wellington was enough for me to deduce that, after two visits, incorrectly cooking steak was not a mistake, but a pattern. Our table was cleared of appetizer plates and utensils, but no new utensils were provided. Our entrees were served shortly thereafter, and began to get cold as we waited for someone to come over and bring us forks and knives. We waited and asked three different people before finally getting some. All of us ordered some type of cocktail or wine with our meals, yet still drank water, and our water glasses were not refilled once during any of my visits. The staff running all over to collect dirty dishes were out of sync with the servers and the kitchen, and unable to get a pulse on the diners. I did not see a manager or any type of supervisor circulating, but these are fixes that can be easily made with proper oversight. Runners were aimlessly running back and forth and just grabbing whatever dishes were done. Their timing was way off. I really wanted to like this place and include it in my regular rotation. I thought with time they would get the rhythm of the dining room down, but I spaced my visits months apart and not much changed. I wish them well, but it will be a pass from me going forward.
