We just checked in and I will update after my stay that is only for one night. Perfect location. It's a bit outdated. Sheets and pillows have stains, rooms are very dusty, mattresses worn but comfortable. Seems unkept. Quaint place but needs work on the yard, plants, grounds. Updating/ painting on home, rooms and cleaning needed.its warm and stuffy inside. We were on the bottom floor. I recommend bringing a fan. We only had a quarter roll of toilet paper in our bathroom and no more to be found. There was no contact with owners what so ever, nobody checked on us to make sure everything was ok or if we needed anything. We did receive a couple vouchers for $7. Each off a meal at a local place. It was very quiet and private. We stayed in the captains quarters.

Function very small, full of antiques. In room bathrooms unstairs. Would stay there again.

Gorgeous old place - historic hotel converted to B&B - shady verandas and charmingly overgrown gardens - could be a Tennessee Williams stage set.

No time to ponder that as a very large palmetto bug runs across the wall next to me. I'm phobic about those roaches but finally managed to dispatch it with my shoe. Some of it may still be in the rug with who knows what else. My wife takes a shower and the water stinks to high heavens of sulphur, or something like it. She freaks out but I tell her that in some areas water can have an oder. We brush our teeth, next morning brush our teeth again and wash up, water still smells to high heavens. We go to lobby for breakfast (arrive at 9:31 am per my iPhone), breakfast closes at 9:30 so out of luck there. My wife mentions the awful smell to the two clerks on duty. They ask, weren't you told about the water? No. They show us a bulletin from the city warning people NOT TO USE THE WATER unless you boil it for a full minute. Including not to brush your teeth. First we heard of this, night clerk failed to advise us. But why aren't notices out in rooms? Why not give us bottled water? How are we to shower or brush our teeth? And we were charged full fare. We both had stomach and intestinal issues for the next two days. So no, I don't recommend this place.

The only thing I'll say though Is if sound bothers you, you should stay upstairs as it's quieter during the evening/night. Recently, they've repainted the exterior and are now a turquoise color. You get access to the bay from the attached dock and they have a few things for rental like kayaks, canoes, bikes. They also have a hot tub but people hop in early so it's always full Parking lot is small so basically 1 car/room Wendy is wonderful & so is Shay who comes to help when it's full. This past visit they made us quiche one day and waffles another and both meals were delicious and plenty of food to be full from. They also do coffee, orange juice and fruit water in the morning They have a communal microwave and dishware to use and rooms get their own little fridge They have access to the beach across the street and there's a convenience store across the street too. A few restaurants close by but port st Joe is a small and quiet town so the beach isn't crowded hardly ever You can go catch scallops during the late summer, if I recall and it gets pretty busy then Lots of locals eating at the same restaurants in the area so don't expect 5 star dining but the food is pretty good and seafood is fresh in the area Small park nearby as well and lots of seashells

It is on the main highway on the island, so I am not sure how this is in the busy season. Beautiful hardwood floors and wrap around porches to sit outside on and relax. I love that the rooms have names instead of room numbers. At night we did hear the LOUD trucks (you know the pickup trucks with the obnoxious mufflers) but after 10 PM we didn't notice any more. The only thing is that there are purple lights outside on the porches and when you wake up at 2 am you think "on my goodness, I've " but it's just those outside lights peaking around the curtains at you. Coffee machine in the hallway was perfect for the early morning coffee that we all enjoy. I would stay here again, there was nothing (except I wish we could turn off those nights) that I would change

The occupants go in and out, up and down the stairs and if you are in the first level you can hear everyone and everything happening. The room we stayed had a king bed and was good size. The place was clean but maybe could use some tlc in spots. The outside looks very quaint. Check in and check out were easy and there was a single coffee cup maker to grab a cuppa before leaving. This venue would be great as a B&B (with some renovations).
