I previously stayed at the Best Western in Apalach, and it was nice (for a Best Western). But for the price, the Riverwood Suites is HANDS DOWN the best place to stay while visiting this quaint seaside town. The location is ideal, and the owner, Monica, was pleasant and easy from booking to a check-in/out. Can't wait to return to try out one of the other suites.

And walk in and ask for somebody to please help you. It is made very clear and I understand that it's summer and it's hot but no one wants to come outside and help you. It's not that they're rude. They're just unwilling. The rooms are tiny, but I was put in the decoration is cute. I'm still waiting on review the dinner. Overall overpriced under delivered if you're going to express yourself as a designer dog friendly to owners and pets please acquire a staff that is accommodating to the owner and the pet. I respect that the Inn is historical and would like to preserve the originality and presentation. However, if you're going to offer ,again, dog friendly services, please designated staff member to take care of those people who are traveling with their dogs who are forced to sit outside in the heat so as to expedite their experience and make it easier for wait staff and patron. Just a note I paid $400 to stay here to enjoy the historical part of Apalachicola. Thank you Gibson inn for providing a beautiful place to stay in a bit of history that is no longer present in Florida. Definitely overall not worth what they charge. Actually, if you guys go on, the service is just completely terrible. The roads are always just can't get this a good review overall from my perspective. I think you were traveling without dogs posted with the family. It would be a better experience still very, very overpriced for what you get.

We couldn't find the cafe and asked one of the hotel workers/maid where it was and she completely ignored us and then pretended like she couldn't understand English after asking three different times where was the cafe or restaurant. We finally found the cafe ourselves walked in looking for some help and saw a gentleman sitting at a table with another employee talking, he looked over at us and said just sit wherever. He didn't even bother to get up from the table where he was sitting talking, no help no nothing. We sat ourselves at a table no menus nothing. Finally a waitress came over, poured water and we asked for two cups of coffee. She brought them right out, still no menues, and both cups of coffee were cold to luke warm at best. The guy who wouldn't get off his butt to seat us came up and asked if we were ready to order even though we still had no menues, and we told him our coffee was cold and he copped an attitude and that was it we got up and left. We stopped at the local store to pick up a snack and told the lady about our experience and she said that many of the people working there act that way and she never recommends that place. I can see why and we'll never stop, stay, or recommend.

The hotel is at the end of a street, a bit secluded, and definitely peaceful. You are one to two blocks from three restaurants, and about 6 blocks from downtown Apalachicola, a very pleasant walk. No time to ponder that as a very large palmetto bug runs across the wall next to me. I'm phobic about those roaches but finally managed to dispatch it with my shoe. Some of it may still be in the rug with who knows what else. My wife takes a shower and the water stinks to high heavens of sulphur, or something like it. She freaks out but I tell her that in some areas water can have an oder. We brush our teeth, next morning brush our teeth again and wash up, water still smells to high heavens. We go to lobby for breakfast (arrive at 9:31 am per my iPhone), breakfast closes at 9:30 so out of luck there. My wife mentions the awful smell to the two clerks on duty. They ask, weren't you told about the water? No. They show us a bulletin from the city warning people NOT TO USE THE WATER unless you boil it for a full minute. Including not to brush your teeth. First we heard of this, night clerk failed to advise us. But why aren't notices out in rooms? Why not give us bottled water? How are we to shower or brush our teeth? And we were charged full fare. We both had stomach and intestinal issues for the next two days. So no, I don't recommend this place.

We ended up it two separate homes a block apart which was fine I stayed in the home on 5th Street for 2 nights. It was on the second floor and very clean. The bed and linen were all clean and comfortable. My biggest gripe is the water supply. The odor of sulphur rotten eggs was so strong I was not going drink it. I was already stuck in the shower with it stinking up the room for one night. It was only smelling from the hot water side. Why would they think that's okay with anyone is crazy. I did like the location and convenience of restaurants and gas stations. These homes had such beautiful woodwork and a lot of character!! Fix the water smell for house on 5th Street and quit trying to confuse customers about picking up key from another location and downloading some app to open doors. Also have a key drop-off box if you're not going to be there by 7:00 AM. All in all I did like the stay and the gentleman at 329 water street was very friendly.
