I needed to take a truck bed full of trimmed trees here or to one of the waste transfer stations. The transfer station closest to me is only open on Wed & Sat 7:30a-5p. The landfill is further, but the hours are much more convenient M-F 5a-8p & Sat 6a-4p. If you plug in 5100 Youngblood, your GPS might not take you to the main entrance. I posted a pic showing the main entrance labeled "Entrance." There we're very minimal lines on my 1st visit. On approach, I could clearly see and choose one if the 2 open check-in lanes. There were LONG lines on my 2nd visit. I pulled up to the end of a single line of commercial & private vehicles. Eventually, the line will fan out into 2 or 3 lanes. There were 3 lanes open on this visit. You'll see vehicles cruising by on the far right side. DO NOT jump out of line & follow them. They are passing by the check-in. Unless someone is merciful, you'll have to come back & get in the back of the line. And most people are there ON BUSINESS, so good luck with mercy. I know this because eventually I reached a flag man directing people into lanes. He sent me over to the right lane. He quickly called me back. He CLAIMED not to see my truck-bed full of junk (read: pretty blond lady can't possibly be doing some labor at the dump....but that's cool. I'm OK with that stereotype :-) & made a space for me in line. I circled "check in" on the picture/map I posted. Once it's your turn to pull up on the scale, you'll see one of those delivery tubes (like the bank). Dallas residents get a certain # of free visits per year. You put your DL or ID with a bill that proves your residence into the tube. Stay by the speaker. They may have a question. They return a duplicate receipt with your ID. Sign it. One copy is yours & they'll tell you which copy to leave. There's signs for different ways to pay, but I don't have any experience with that. Pull forward to the next intersection. There should be another flag man there to guide you (straight). If not, residential customers, proceed forward through the intersection to the next yellow circle on the picture/map I posted. Take the 1st right past the intersection. Drive up a little hill & to the left. Back up to the dumping station & unload your cargo into this massive hole with 2 roll-offs inside. There are employees there if you have any questions. Exit the way you came in on (your) right of the check in building. No need to sign out.
