Stoped at the welcome center here , to check it out after I saw so many great reviews, my family and I stopped to use the restroom and to buy a magnet and wow ... definitely didn't get the warm and fuzzy here , didn't really get a hello , seemed like nobody there wanted to talk to us , really bad vibes for us I just wanted to leave. I had saw in other reviews that they welcomed them and gave them awesome info and talked we definitely didn't get that there. Probably would NEVER stop here again super bombed out about it. read more

This was a very nice surprise upon walking inside the building. Amazingly there is a gift shop. I have never seen a gift shop in a welcome center. Like other well thought out and designed rest area facilities, this building has two complete sets of men and women restrooms. This is so while one is closed for cleaning the other is open and available to the public. Truck parking is outdated and in need of expansion. Vehicles towing trailers or RV campers have to use truck parking too. Trucks parking on ramps is dangerous for everyone and needs to be addressed nationwide. read more

This Oklahoma Welcome Center is located right off Interstate 35 going north and south in Thackerville, OK. It's a terrific rest stop/welcome center for all those tourists needing info on where to go and what to explore when visiting Oklahoma. And that was the case for me. I was coming to Oklahoma...specifically Oklahoma City and was interested in getting some insight into the worthwhile attractions and landmarks that Oklahoma is known for. I really didn't preplan ahead of time for visiting Oklahoma. I just knew that I had never stepped foot inside the state and wanted to get a real feel experience for all the cool spots, hangouts, parks, museums...etc. This Welcome Center had it! Any type of brochure, guide and map...this place was a one stop shop. Inside the Welcome Center...all they ask for from you is to provide them with your home zip code which they write down for their own statistics. Meanwhile...I was grabbing plenty of brochures for all the interesting sights and areas in Oklahoma City. I left with a bag full of information for my explorations! This place was the perfect introduction to Oklahoma. And it was here where I discovered Turner Falls Park, a pleasant waterfall setting located in Davis, OK about 47 miles straight north from here. Obviously while at this welcome center, you might as well use the restroom. They have plenty of grassy area for walking your dog, even some picnic tables if you'd like to take time having lunch. What really won me over about this rest stop was right at the front entrance section when driving in from the northern side of the highway, off to the right-hand side...there's a wonderful Welcome to Oklahoma Sign that is definitely picture worthy. Especially, for me...I've been trying to visit every state in the USA and here at this welcome center, the sign for entering was shaped exactly like the state of Oklahoma, with the top part of the sign pointing towards the left...a replica of how you'd envision the state to appear. I absolutely recommend a getting a picture of this. Plus, near the welcome center building was a bison sign again stating this is Oklahoma along with some interesting facts and history about what the state is known for. Ultimately for myself, getting to be here at the border of Texas and Oklahoma was sort of a surreal moment. I'm just a random person who grew up in New York and after 42 years finally stepping foot in Oklahoma, (a place in my head that reminds me of the heartland of America)...it was pretty exciting! Just some last facts about this Oklahoma Welcome Center... - It's situated 83 miles north of Dallas, TX and 124 miles south of Oklahoma City, OK. - They do feature little vending machines off to the side of the entrance building if you'd like to buy a snack or refreshment. - There are gas stations located a couple of miles away to the north and south. Overall, this Oklahoma Welcome Center situated right on the border with Texas is 5 stars as good as it gets in terms of being a quality rest stop and having all the amenities you could ask for. I'm grateful I pulled off to the side of Interstate 35 to take a break here. read more

I'm shocked I have never stopped here after 25+ years driving through this area. The rest stop is clean, with indoor and outdoor restroom access. There's also a staffed visitors info/gift shop and free coffee! read more

You can't beat a place with a gigantic mural of Blake Shelton on the wall, right?? LOL! We purposely drove across the border after a trip to Dallas just to come here and take some cute pictures with the Oklahoma signs. This was one of the nicest welcome centers I have ever been to with neat displays and lots and lots of maps and brochures of what to do in the surrounding areas. Great and friendly staff as well who were more than happy to answer questions. The gift shop also has some cool items in it. There's a dog park, picnic tables, well stocked vending machines and clean bathrooms. A fun stop if you're heading in or out of Oklahoma and don't forget to take your picture with the bison! read more

I am not a fan of rest areas, but as far as rest areas go, it's nice. There are trees, picnic tables, potty bags for dogs, clean bathrooms and a welcome center. I was there during the day and it felt safe enough. My dog happy, on picked up his poop, and life goes on. On the inside, the grounds around the building ate well taken care of. There's free coffee inside and a fairly decent and comfortable seats. There's books for sale (and DVDs about Native Americans) along with tons of brochures. There's two sets of bathrooms, so that only one at a time is being cleaned. The hooks in the stalls of the women's bathroom was definitely hung by a men because I could barely reach to hang my purse. read more

We LOVE stopping here on our way home from anything travel related in Texas. The staff is so polite! The bathrooms are generally clean, and the coffe is always on. There is a lot of great informational papers for many areas of Oklahoma and surrounding states. Parking is great and there is picnic tables to relax at and eat if needed. They have little activity books for kids, at least when we went they had some. But, again the staff is great and they always engage in conversation. read more

Located just across the border of Texas along the Red River. The Welcome Center offers a clean place to pull over for a quick restroom break or taking a little nap. The Welcome Center offers free coffee during business hours and holidays. The facility is clean, has on site security patrol during the night and free wifi. Every time my grandpa would come visit us in Texas, the second he crossed the Red River he would exclaim, "Now we're back in God's country!" Well, I do believe my God-fearing grandfather would appreciate this welcome center in his land that he loved. As you enter the state from the south just over the Texas border off IH I-35 N, the Oklahoma Welcome Center is the first stop for all the saints (all the sinners take the exit before this one) in your car. When they pile out of the vehicle, they will make a bee-line to the restroom. What they will find are exquisitely clean facilities inside a building cooled by central AC. Yes! If you have a need to ask a question about Oklahoma, there's a desk manned by polite and smiling state hostesses or hosts. You'll also see several stands filled with all kinds of brochures and pamphlets from a myriad of places beckoning you to visit where the wind comes sweeping down the plain. If you want to rest a few minutes in a comfy chair, take a seat and read through a few of your selections to see if you might just want to take the road less traveled and find that Spider VW Bug in Lexington. The last amenity to note here is the small coffee bar. While it's not Starbucks or Dunkin' Donuts coffee, it's free and bless their hearts for making it! When it's time to get back into your steel-bodied, four-wheeled carriage, you'll be glad you stopped because you can make it down I-35 north for a few more miles without your bladder singing "Rescue Me!" throughout your insides.
