I have gone by there a couple times and they appear to be closed. There is a small sigh on the entrance gate to the commercial buildings. Complex was empty even though I went during business hours.... Well the hours posted on Yelp. read more

Ok... I have waited for a distillery to come to Tulsa and this one makes my little heart pitter patter! It is super cute and with modern furniture inside. Everything is clean and well taken care of. One bathroom. Be careful, there is a tiny step. You can order a self-guided tour and get a free drink or flight. You can also buy a button and get a free taco! I wanted to buy the car l, but not enough cash on me when I was there. What a time to be alive!! The libations are super well mixed. My favorite is the Sour Patch choice, but I also enjoyed the root beer float. Word is there will be lavender options soon. You know I am there! The owners are very nice and enjoy their venture. read more

I was pleasantly surprised by this little hole in the wall. They have some amazing drinks. I tried 2 different ciders which were very tasty and not too sweet. The food was on point. It's definitely a unique experience and will be coming back to try the curry cider. read more

Absolute cutest distillery I have ever been to! In what could be a cold warehouse setting are these cute vignettes of crushed velvet couches and mid century furniture in bright colors. "Tour" is a very loose term as it is a "stand and look" and read "facts" of a page. As long as you're going for the drinks and the vibes and not the educational experience, you will love the house infused spirits and cocktails and want to come back. read more

Specialties

Makers of "America's World's Most Self-Awarded Spirits in the World," we're a quirky distillery making wholly independent spirits in the middle of America. In distribution throughout Oklahoma, you'll find our brands Indian Grass (Vodka), 1907 (Whiskeys), Rose Rock (Rums), and Stiff Shot (Coffee Liqueurs). At the distillery, you'll find a cozy environment to sample our portfolio of distributed, as well as traditional, undistributed spirits (i.e. absinthe and non-taco gin) and experimental spirits, such as "Prequila" (prickly pears, nopales, and agave) and "Smoked Plantain Ruju" (smoked plantains and a Korean soju culture).

History

Established in 2017.

Oklahoma Distilling Co. launched in distribution in December 2017 and opened its tasting room when Oklahoma laws changed in the fall of 2018. Sister company, Local Cider & Angry Bear Mead launched next to the distillery in January 2019.

Meet the Business Owner: Hunter G.

An Oklahoma native, Hunter Stone Gambill moved with his wife after undergrad to the Willamette Valley in Oregon, where he went to grad school and wrote his thesis on mead, learned winemaking, brewing, and distilling. He tried to secure financing to start a meadery during the financial crises, but quickly found banks weren't lending to broke 23 year-olds. He and his wife decided to go overseas, first to Guatemala where he worked for a small brew-pub, and then to China where he taught third grade at an international school. He became an international school principal and served the US Embassy as a consular warden for a year. After 8 years abroad and 50 countries traveled, he was no longer a broke 23-year old and moved back to Oklahoma to start Oklahoma Distilling Co., Local Cider, and Angry Bear Mead.

Happy hour runs 3-6 PM with a minor discount on wine flights ($1 from my estimation) and cocktails. A complimentary Rillette or cheese plate is also available. These are truly small plates but they are presented beautifully and come with cornichons, olives, and port-soaked figs. Pretty much the perfect bites. I went with a wine flight and my friend went with a mimosa. After that we both needed to do a mocktail as we were driving. We tried an orange fizz and a pomegranate fizz. Both were good (and maybe even better than the real cocktail). We also got bread service. I would certainly try this again. It was a great quiet place if you are looking for a more low-key happy hour.
