I've had my violin and viola bows regained by him for a while now. Okkyum discusses hair choice, creates a nice even spread of the hair, and lets clients test run them on the spot. I've always been 100% satisfied. He's cut bridges for both my instruments as well as sound post fittings. Now my instruments sing like angles. Excellent workmanship, great prices, and speedy turn around time.

I forgot my case, so Mr. Kim came out to set up my car to protect my cello. So kind of him!

A lovely shop. We had a very small repair and he kindly and quickly repaired our violin while we waited without charging us a fortune.

I called on a day the store happened to be closed, but the owners were at the shop anyway for a previous appointment, so she invited us to come over. She and her husband listened to our violin needs, offered some suggestions, and proceeded to restring two violins, provide two bows and fine tuners for both violins while we waited...for a reasonable price...on their day off! The owners are so sweet. It is obvious from the moment you walk into their store by the way you are greeted like family, that they clearly care about their customers and their business. I would come back in a heartbeat, and will recommend this place to everyone. Thank you for assisting us on your day off!

I've been looking for a place to get my fingerboard taped, and was so relieved when I called and they said that they could help me out! Not only did she help me with this, she also helped me tune my violin and, noticing the bridge was crooked, put it back in place. When I offered to pay, she said it was for free. I was really blown away by this, and insisted on at least buying something. I came home with a ready-to-play violin and a beautiful new rosin! Thank you, Forte Strings, for such a great experience. Really looking forward to my next visit!

Just choose the instrument, the condition, and size if applicable. Add insurance to make things worry free, sign the contract, and you are done. If you go directly to Betrand's (not by link), they have a great deal where you can rent for 9 months and get 1 month free. That's enough for the school year. The instruments they rent out are the real deal. Not the cheap imitations you see on Amazon. A couple of days later, I get a call from Kira letting me know my rental is processed and ready to be picked up. The location is convenient and has ample parking. We get to the store and see that they are very well organized and knowledgeable. I may have paid a bit more per month than going through IPSF but it's 100% worth it. IPSF is a waste of time and they are not organized. What IPSF does is have you keep checking with them over and over again. Like others have mentioned, Bertrand's is a breath of fresh air. Pro-Tip: Don't use the link provided by IPSF. Deal directly with Bertrand's. There is zero hook up with the IPSF link.

I accidentally connected the speaker output of my amp incorrectly to a load box, which resulted in a failed power tube. Frank went through the amp thoroughly, diagnosed the problem, replaced the necessary tubes, tested everything, and kept me informed throughout the entire process. His attention to detail was incredible. He even made a YouTube video showing the diagnosis, repair, and testing of the amp, which was really cool to see and gave me even more confidence in his work. The turnaround time absolutely blew me away. I dropped the amp off on Wednesday and had it back that same Friday! I was expecting to be without it for at least a week or two. The amp is back home now and sounds absolutely incredible--strong, healthy, and like new again. It's hard to find people who are not only extremely knowledgeable at what they do, but also genuinely kind and passionate about their work. Frank went above and beyond, and I wouldn't hesitate for a second to bring another amp to him. Thank you again Frank!

Turns out that the 6V6 power tubes are self biasing with this amp. John showed me two caps that were old, cracked and leaking. He replaced them and removed the "death cap" that I didn't even know existed. He had the caps in stock and replaced the power and pre amp tubes. He installed a 12AT7 in the proper pre amp slot. The amp sounds fantastic in all its variations! Super clean, great mid range pull boost and smokin' lead channel. John did it all while I was there and the price was extremely reasonable. I drove an hour to John from my studio in LA to drop off a 1966 Princeton Reverb with some output issues, hissing, crackling, etc. A week later I received the invoice, paid, picked up the amp and took it home. The issue was not resolved. Took a video for proof. I drove the amp back to John and showed him the video, he apologized and said he would get it right this time, and wouldn't double down on labor costs. I thanked him for that, and dropped off the amp. Two weeks later I got a second invoice requesting additional payment. Confused and reluctant to pay a second fee, I still paid and picked up the amp. This time before driving back home to LA, I took the amp to the local guitar center to test it myself, and the issue STILL persisted after not even 10 minutes of play time. I took another video. Frustrated, I brought the amp back to John and showed him the video. He asked I leave the amp with him a third time. I explained that I do not feel confident in doing so, and I requested a refund on labor since I already paid two invoices for an issue that was never fixed. He was professional enough to agree, but I will not be returning to John or recommending him to any other musicians in my area.
