I went back this week for a shimmy shock and was told the price ahead of time. It sounded high but unfortunately I agreed to it because I felt like he was fair before. I found out the next day that I was charged $179 for a $25 shock. While I understand that he has to make money I felt that was extreme. I will not be back and would encourage anyone doing business at Jim's research the prices he is quoting for parts and make sure this doesn't happen to you. Lesson learned for me.

My second time here I had to get my motorcycle inspected and wouldn't you know, it wouldn't start. I've always had a bit of a starter problem on it, I figured I'd just wait a few minutes for it to work. But they walked out, and took a look. They first tried rolling it to start, and it worked at first but then quit. They looked at the battery and saw that the screws weren't the right size. They took the time to find the right size, and it started right up. Embarrassing but they were so nice about it. They were just as nice again when I brought my car later. I'll be going here whenever I have issues and I'm in the area.

Also when i got home to San Jose, Ca and took it to my new mechanic out here he found the brake lines needed to be flushed. Fixing my brake problem immediately. After getting home and looking it over, it was obvious that he didn't get the bolts tight enough, since they were about to fall off. My wife had her car "serviced" as well, a 2002 subaru, they changed her alternator and catolittic converter. About a week later she had to take it to a electronic specialist, and now the exhaust is held up by some wire I tied it up with after the converter fell off and was dragging under it. I have called them, and left messages, with no response. So to sum it up, I definitely would not recommend them to anyone that I don't hate. If you want your vehicle fixed take it somewhere else, or just let the auto mechanics class at the school work on it, they couldn't do any worse than Childers Service Plus.
