2.5 stars for me. Our waitress was nice, but got our sushi sampler wrong and gave us a sashimi one. He'll eat anything, so he ate that, I won't eat that. $5 for a tiny bowl of hibachi noodles which just tasted like soy noodle. It was extremely bland and not good. $7 for 5 small hardly filled pork gyoza which were okay, not the best. $4.50 for a tiny sliver of bland plain deep fried cheesecake with bland canned whip cream to garnish it. The soup was extremely bland and overpriced as well. He dumped soy, pepper, and dumpling sauce in it to make it edible. It was mainly just vegetable and noodles in water. read more

I stopped in for lunch yesterday and ordered a chicken teriyaki bento box. It started with miso soup that was a little lacking in salt but it was light and refreshing. The chicken in the bento box was plentiful and juicy while still being well cooked. The sauce was tasty and sweet that was served with the chicken and vegetables. The California roll pieces were delicious and fresh. The dumplings were a little oily, almost like the fryer temperature was too low when they were dropped in. Service was quick and the price was reasonable. I would order this meal again and try other offerings from their menu. read more

There's really limited options to eat vegetarian/vegan in Bonaventure. We found this place online and decided to give it a try. They have your usual sushi/hibachi items on the menu, nothing out of the ordinary here. The food was decent, nothing to rave about. Our third visit...each time food has been decent..We went as a family for special occasion. We ordered lunch Hibachi.... Now we have been Hibachi family for many years. Lunch Hibachi is still about $16 a seat..It became quite evident there was a change..I got barely enough food to eat!!! For the first time since 2019 I was able to eat inside at Oishi but due to lack of staffing wait times are longer than expected and they currently do not have the Hibachi show due to said staff shortage. Now you wonder why I still give a 3 Star review? It's because the food still continues to be very good. I came in with my sister she got the Chicken and Shrimp Hibachi while I got the Steak and Shrimp, the Shrimp was perfect and they cooked my steak to medium rare as I like my sisters Chicken was a bit dry for her liking and the slice she gave me I had to agree. Now I do believe within the next few weeks and months the staff shortages will pass but as for now expect a long wait for great food. read more

The sushi here is excellent. I usually try to sample a little bit of everything, they don't have a crazy selection of random rolls but they do have a large assortment. The food is fresh and although their rolls aren't extremely creative like I've seen at other places, the rolls are excellent in quality of ingredients. Would not recommend. Unfortunately the restaurant is not functioning at this point due to lack of staff. They do not have a chef. Made a lengthy drive just to find out that the restaurant is not open. The front entrance is boarded off. Apparently you can call to preorder takeout but I am not sure how this is feasible without a chef. I called earlier in the day before our arrival and there was no mention of these changes to service. Yet another Chinese Restaurant parading as Japanese food! I have lived in Japan and this is not Japanese food by any stretch of the imagination. I was very upset when I received a horribly done nabeyaki udon. It was just bad. Hardly any fish other than imitation crab. The broth was bad the vegetables were all mixed up and over cooked. The sushi I received was poorly prepared and just smothered in sauce to hide the fact that the rice had no flavor! Rice is the most important part of the sushi, infact it's not sushi without the rice! To have bland poorly cooked rice and call it sushi is a travesty. Sad... just sad. read more

The only game in town, so they don't have to be good. But they TOTALLY ARE I live in buffalo, where there is slightly more competition for sushi quality. But Oishi is still better than 95% of the ones I've had there. read more

Sushi in western ny? I had my doubts but overall it was pretty solid. Something was missing overall but I was pretty pleased given my expectations. I had edamame, dumpling soup, and some basic rolls. Other guys went with specialty rolls. Nobody left hungry or disappointed. If you're in the area I'd say you should check it out. read more

Every time I go to Oishi, I've never left unsatisfied. There is so much to choose from. Besides the numerous dishes, the sushi there is amazing. You will not find another place in this area that has fresh sushi and sashimi of that variety. The prices are absolutely perfect for the amazing quality food. I would not have any problem spending any amount of money there because I know it will always be worth it. I don't really remember what we got, but sometimes my friend who moved to South Carolina asks if they opened up fully for hibachi yet so he can plan a visit. The food was great and service was quick and kind. I had the Salamanca roll, which was to die for, and my friend got sushi for 2, which ended up being a sushi boat.
