Amazing to see these natural wonders. Our guide Haley was knowledgeable and answered our questions. We came on a Sunday and joined the first tour so it wasn't busy at all. I highly recommend visiting if you're in the area.

Super pretty caverns! The pricing for a tour isn't bad. The tour is kind of short but you see lots of beautiful formations. They don't compare to Kentucky but it's still great to see and explore.

Various awesome aspects of Ohio Caverns! The Caverns are beautiful! The tour guides are knowledgeable and hardworking. The cost of the tour tickets is a little steep. The gift shop is awesome! Lots of fun and unique items! Also, the prices weren't too terrible. The special photos they take in the cave for you are absolutely worth it and they are only $10 in the most beautiful sleeve!!! The panning activity is super cool! They have different priced bags of rocks and you pan the dirt off to find beautiful polished stones. The smaller bag is $6 which is a complete bargain for the experience and the stone! Do the activity!!! My only caution, the cavern does get narrow and low in places. Also, there are 60 concrete stairs at the end of the cavern exploration. If you or your party have struggling health challenges this might not be the activity for you. I highly recommend.

Here's the deal: I totally expected an overly commercialized, in your face, cheesy, subpar experience. And that was not the case at all. Yes, there is the obligatory gift store, but there are added touches like the EV charging stations, solar panel array and signed tree trail that I totally appreciate. And that doesn't even include the caverns. Wow, just wow. Really beautiful. My teen boys actually thought it might have been better than Mammoth Cave. We decided it was just a different type of experience. But if you are into stalactites, stalagmites, columns and soda straws this is for you. If you like to take pics, I suggest staying towards the back so you can take your time. I had a young girl breathing down my neck, til I asked her family to pass. Since this is the off season, I will be interested to return during the main season for a different tour, BUT it was pretty nice to be there without crowds.

We were very surprised at how interesting the natural wonder tour was. Not sure exactly what to expect, we were pleasantly surprised at the knowledge of our tour guide and the beautiful cave formations we saw. There were many stalagmites, stalactites, soda straws and columns. The tour takes approximately 50 minutes and from the time one enters until exiting - there are formations.

The caverns were very neat and only a short drive from Columbus. Polite and friendly staff. Our tour guide Candace did an amazing job. We found something for everyone in the gift shop. Very reasonable prices for the tour and gifts. You can purchase cavern tour tickets online. We were fortunate to arrive at a time where walk in slots were available. Well worth the trip.

Great way to spend a couple hours in mid-Ohio, even if you have to drive a bit to get there. Beautiful area for a picnic before/after the tour. My family did the Natural Wonders tour and it was really cool. I wish it were longer than 50 minutes, but it was still very interesting. Our guide, Anna, was great - very personable, knowledgeable, and funny. Great job!

Saturday July 9th, Hubby Tony and I went to the Ohio Caverns located NW from Columbus Ohio. It's really near West Liberty, Ohio. We arrived around 9am when they opened and bought our tickets for the First Tour of the day for Natural Wonders Tour. It started about 930am and cost $40 for both of us. The tour was led by Ben and there was about 12 of us on the tour. This cave was AWESOME!!! LOTS OF RAINING INSIDE AND CONSTANT 54 DEGREES. THE RAINING IS CONSTANT DRIPPING from the cave called Kisses which brings you good luck...if so I was dropped on about 100 times!!! More luck for me!!! The cave was about an hour long. Enjoyed it tremendously and loved it. There is a great gift shop, picnic tables some with shelters. Definitely would go again and highly recommend. Loved it!!!

We took a pit stop at Ohio Caverns on our recent vacation in Ohio. My kids are under 10 and this was a perfect activity for both of them! We did the Natural Wonder tour, though my husband and I would have preferred the Historic Tour, this one suited our kids better. The cavern is very cool! It's well lit so we were able to see beautiful crystals and formations like stalactites and stalagmites. We grabbed some cheap sweatshirts at a local Walmart for the kids to wear in the caverns. Wear closed toed shoes as well as there are lots of puddles. There is a great little picnic area and playscape for kids. My kids collect pressed pennies and really loved that there was a machine here. Everything is super clean and well maintained! The grounds are pristine. It was an awesome little stop.

Informational and fun tour! We had a great time walking through the caves with our tour guide and about 12-18 others. We were able to take pictures and even get a souvenir photo taken that was $10 and worth it :) gift shop was nice with a lot of great rocks and minerals for a good price. Took about an hour to get through the tour. Once we arrived and had our tickets, we waited 15 mins for our tour and were able to enjoy the vast scenery. Not the best if you're claustrophobic, and I think I heard our tour guide say they have a special path if you're in a wheelchair (I could have misheard). Did the natural wonders tour but might have to go back one day to do the historic tour.

Not for those with claustrophobia, but the tours are quite long and the guides make sure everyone can hear everything- even having 2 guides in more narrow pathways.

I am claustrophobic but have toured other caves without issue. Are there any especially tight, long passages on any of these tours?

There are long passages, but I wouldn't say that any of them are overly tight. I'm 6' and 225, and I had no issues moving around inside. Many of the spots are fairly open, relatively speaking to being inside of a cave, of course.

If you had to pick a tour which is your favorite of the ones they offer?

$20 Historic, $20 natural wonders, or $30 combo/both in a day. I recommend both tours, but if you really only want to do one then the natural wonders is better for the stalagmites and stalagmites. If you have small kids then take the historic to… Read more

Is this good to go to at this time of year, or is it too cold?

The temperature in the caverns is a steady 54 degrees year round. Anytime would be a good time to go. It's an amazing place.

How far is it from.portland ind ? Would u know plz .and r there nice hotels to stay over nite close .

1.5 hours away. There is a comfort in nearby or a holiday Inn about 20 miles away.

Since it always raining hard,is there danger of flooding inside and get trapped inside?

No, most of Ohio would need to be underwater to flood the cavern. You also will not feel an earthquake unless it is a level 8 or 9. They discuss this on the tour as they are also an emergency shelter.

Can you bring a snack and some water with you on the tour because my grandpa needs the water and he’s taking me? Are their resting area in case you need to sit down? How do you get back to your cars, do you walk through the caverns again or what?

Hello! We do not allow any food or drink in the cavern to prevent sticky messes, however we do allow plain bottled water. There are no resting places while you are in the cavern, but it is a slow paced, one mile walk with a tour guide. The cavern… Read more

Are there any snakes? Also, can a large person fit through the narrow areas?

There are no bugs or critters of any kind. No snakes. :) My husband who is 300lbs and 6'3" was able to fit through the narrowest points. The historic tour is slightly more narrow at various places than the Natural Wonder tour.

Here there is something for everyone. It is a nostalgic place for me and many others who are from…read moreTroy, Ohio. But for many, this is a new and booming place, but it's not exactly new. This is not just any park...here is a little history: In the early 1940's, several Troy residents began clearing the river and the banks of rubbish in hopes of using the area for water activates. They even cleared away the remains of an old wooden damn located just north of the Adams St. Bridge. Then, Edward Alvah (E. A.) and William Hobart took an interest in the park and provided the heavy equipment needed to assist in the process of clearing. That's right...E.A and William Hobart of the Hobart Brothers Corporation. The Hobart Corporation used to be based in Troy, Ohio. Yes, that's right...the ones that created and made Kitchenaid for the home and for commercial use...and they are still made today (just not here). Let us not forget the welders, generators and industrial equipment as well to name a few. They weren't always made in a foreign country. Indeed, Hobart was alive and well in Troy, Ohio and the surrounding area once upon a time. The Corporation put quite the thumbprint on Troy, this is one of them. The leaders of the Hobart Brothers Corporation wanted to provide a location for not only boating enthusiasts, but also for their employees to enjoy the Great Miami River and all activities related to water. So, they constructed a marina, a boathouse, and a launch area with a lighthouse all from the profits of the company. At one time there was a baseball diamond located here and playground equipment as well. The place boomed with boating activities, festivals and company picnics for many years. My grandparents and parents used to speak of the fun times here. In the 1960's, E.A. Hobart gave the boathouse and property to the city of Troy as a gift. Troy accepted and decided it had great recreational potential. It has been utilized in many ways over the years. It has even seen days of non-use and dilapidation as well sadly. Some of my fondest memories growing up were playing out on the island after crossing a bridge...and we always fed the ducks. I used to love to ride my bike down that steep hill coming in and lift my legs & feet off the peddles. We used to rent canoes and paddle boats below...sweet memories. But what was once old, is new again. It brings me tears of joy to see this place come alive again and alive it is indeed. This place not only has its own website now, but it has a Facebook page too! There is a fairly new restaurant in the building called "Smith's Boathouse". The Smith family has a history of their own. I went to school with one of the brothers and was able to enjoy the family restaurant in Maui (Yummy). It is a great addition to the Park. And if you get a chance, please check it out. But not only that, there is now an area for concerts in addition to the typical walks, playing, biking, picnicking or just hanging out and enjoying the view. There is quite the venue these days at Treasure Island. It makes me smile that it is alive again. Although people call it "new", please don't forget the history, how it started, why it's here and how it has evolved. When in Troy...stop down...a water activity may interest you, a stroll, a bike ride...or maybe just the view. These are only a few things you can do there...there is something for everyone...to include finding that special spot for peace and quiet. http://www.troyohio.gov/587/Treasure-Island-Park https://www.facebook.com/pages/Treasure-Island-Park/142286295802726

There are three loop hiking trails, and one of them is wonderful for children because it is a storybook hike. Along the trail are pages from a story book and you walk along the trail to get to the next page of the story. The story changes periodically with the seasons. The stories are great for a little tiny kids, so you can read it to them when you get to the next one, and they are usually easy enough to read that an early reader can read it him or herself. What a great introduction to hiking for small kids! The trail is quite short, so it is appropriate for all ages. There are 2 Additional Loop hiking trails that are good for grown-ups and kids, and are short enough for all but your youngest kids. This park also has a natural playground. There is a loop that is very short that has a sand and gravel pit to play in, a rope to use as a swing (best for older kids), a little wooden house with a loft that is kid size, and more, like a new seesaw. If you want to give your kids an outdoor, natural experience, but were worried they'd be bored with a hike, this place is ideal! There is also a creek to play in, trees to climb on, and other natural features. This place is not just for kids! The loop trails are very nice. They are flat and an easy walk for someone looking for a stroll or easy hike in nature. For a more robust exercise walk, do all four loops. Loops connect, so it is easy to make a bigger hike, without ever getting lost if you have a bad sense of direction. There are lots of trail map placards along the way at trail intersections. Trails are wide and easy to navigate. They are not paved, but they are flat enough that I think you could make do with a jogging stroller or possibly even a wheelchair with good shock absorption.
