Saturday July 9th, 2022 Tony and I Visited Indian Lake State Park and stopped at the Old Field Beachfront Park. It's Free to enjoy and open to the Public. There are bathrooms, a few covered shelters and various picnic tables. Sandy Beach front area to enjoy the water...lol just no waves like the ocean... I saw some Green on the water...Tony thought it was algae or bacteria. I thought it was pollen...who knows we didn't have our swimming outfits or towels. But there was a lot of people out there enjoying it. The weather was amazing Plenty of free parking. People riding bikes, fishing, swimming and picnics galore. I wish we had this near my home but we are 3hrs away one way!!! But a great road trip!!!

Nice lake, but so ridiculously overcrowded, I would never consider camping there. We got a new (used) camper last summer, and have been checking out some nearby state parks as we get the old rig ready to hit the road. While the lake here is beautiful, if our early October visit shows even a glimpse of how overcrowded this place is during prime time in the summer, we'll be staying FAR away...

Another state park. It's right by a pretty looking lake. The park has some good and bad things. It overall looks pretty nice. The facilities could use some work. It's not a humongous park, but there's lots of room for campers. It's mostly along the northern shore of the lake. The campground takes up most of the park. It has a good view of the lake. There's a beach that's kept up pretty well. Campground facilities include bathrooms and laundry. Most of the bathrooms here are nasty. It's like they're never cleaned. The campground area also can easily flood when it rains. This is a good park to walk around. Even if you're not camping for the night. There's lots of bars and restaurants.

Sticks everywhere. Thanks for the free firewood

Asked for helped from a person in the AO section because it was our first time at this particular park. It was not our first time camping by any means but never have been disrespected by any other campers before. Long story short we asked for help finding our site and got chastised for driving 14 in 10 mph. Human mistake. But seems as though every single truck driving by was going about 20mph. Only difference was my skin is brown..Every camper area looked fine with not one stick but our non electric had clesrly had no maintenance. We had to clean hundreds of sticks before we put our expensive equipment up. The signs to find the non electric sites are not easy to see. Maybe put on your website that this is NOT a place for tent campers. It's over crowded with RVs, CAMPERS, and TRUCKS. This is not a place for people that really camp. And not a place for people that love the environment. I won't be coming back.

    Beach area.

Busy place, LOTS of kids, 10MPH speed limit strictly enforced, not uncommon to see the OSHP in the park. Very peaceful at night!

Nice clean park with good sized sites. Boat launch worked great for kayaking. Only downside was our warped picnic table

There's definitely something for just about everyone here, including a MASSIVE public pool for the summer months, beautiful trails, multiple playgrounds, picnic areas, scenic waterways, ball fields, and even a lovely covered bridge. You'll need much more than one day to see everything, but I was able to see a good bit of this wonderful community park, including hiking most of the VERY user-friendly Benjamin Trail, ending at the covered bridge (I think the trail continues, but I stopped/returned at that point) and driving around the perimeter of the park to see several other trail heads. There was a pretty good number of people here the day I visited, but it never felt overcrowded. Life's ups and downs have led me to do some serious "exploring," in every sense of the word, up to and including some of the lesser-known parks in the area. Tawawa was a WONDERFUL discovery, and I hope to return SOON!! CHECK IT OUT!!!!!

The difficult part is being able to do a review on them since they are difficult to find on the computer. This one of the few I have found. It is easy to get to and has a large gravel parking area. The trails are well maintained with nice views. Some unique tree formations (spikes). There is no difficult hiking here. There are no restrooms. If you are looking for a quiet afternoon with small group or with family, try this park out.

The remainder of the trail is a hiking trail through grass plains and woods. It crosses the headwaters stream a few times and ends at an overlook that gives a nice view of the headwaters stream. The place is around 800 acres and the hike goes through only a small portion of it. There are great opportunities to see wildlife. They have done a great job preserving the grounds and the water. We have taken our dog several times, she has gone into some taller grass and we have found a couple ticks on her, so be sure to check yourself and pets after you go.

This is a wonderful new park in the Johnny Appleseed Park group. It has an enclosed, reserveable…read morespace, and bathrooms. There are three loop hiking trails, and one of them is wonderful for children because it is a storybook hike. Along the trail are pages from a story book and you walk along the trail to get to the next page of the story. The story changes periodically with the seasons. The stories are great for a little tiny kids, so you can read it to them when you get to the next one, and they are usually easy enough to read that an early reader can read it him or herself. What a great introduction to hiking for small kids! The trail is quite short, so it is appropriate for all ages. There are 2 Additional Loop hiking trails that are good for grown-ups and kids, and are short enough for all but your youngest kids. This park also has a natural playground. There is a loop that is very short that has a sand and gravel pit to play in, a rope to use as a swing (best for older kids), a little wooden house with a loft that is kid size, and more, like a new seesaw. If you want to give your kids an outdoor, natural experience, but were worried they'd be bored with a hike, this place is ideal! There is also a creek to play in, trees to climb on, and other natural features. This place is not just for kids! The loop trails are very nice. They are flat and an easy walk for someone looking for a stroll or easy hike in nature. For a more robust exercise walk, do all four loops. Loops connect, so it is easy to make a bigger hike, without ever getting lost if you have a bad sense of direction. There are lots of trail map placards along the way at trail intersections. Trails are wide and easy to navigate. They are not paved, but they are flat enough that I think you could make do with a jogging stroller or possibly even a wheelchair with good shock absorption.

If you head to the left, you can cross a little bridge over a creek that takes you into a very nice natural play area, which includes a slide, a ring of boulders to climb and jump from, the aforementioned creek that you can enjoy some creeking in, and a little wooded area with a mini dirt trail. The playground and open air shelter were packed when we visited, but the natural play area was completely empty. We enjoyed the opportunity to fully explore and try out each of the activities. If you continue along the paved trail up the hill, you can take it to the left to visit a small prairie and head up a connector to a greenway trail, or you can take a right and loop through Gantz Park. As you loop around, you'll find a lovely gazebo surrounded by beautiful flowers, and then another bridge that takes you into the gardens area (which is located to the right of the parking lot when you are facing the playground and red barn, so you could also just go straight there if that's your interest). The gardens are very fun, such as a rain garden, a community-type garden, native plants, herb garden, knot garden, and the like. In addition to the beautiful plants, there is a lot of wonderful art and sculptures throughout, and a very nice labyrinth to walk and get some nice meditation in. It was very relaxing despite its proximity to the noisy parking lot and playground. Well worth a visit whether you're getting out with the kids or looking to enjoy the gardens!
