Saturday July 9th, 2022 Tony and I Visited Indian Lake State Park and stopped at the Old Field Beachfront Park. It's Free to enjoy and open to the Public. There are bathrooms, a few covered shelters and various picnic tables. Sandy Beach front area to enjoy the water...lol just no waves like the ocean... I saw some Green on the water...Tony thought it was algae or bacteria. I thought it was pollen...who knows we didn't have our swimming outfits or towels. But there was a lot of people out there enjoying it. The weather was amazing Plenty of free parking. People riding bikes, fishing, swimming and picnics galore. I wish we had this near my home but we are 3hrs away one way!!! But a great road trip!!! read more

MID-APRIL: I love our State parks, but this one just wasn't great. Sites are VERY close together. I stayed in B116, which backs up to a neighborhood!!! I think in the summer there would be more shrubbery so if I had to pick I probably would stay at that site again. I drove by sites closer to the water and there were ducks waddling around, which means DUCK POOP. Just something to keep in mind. There was almost no one around which also is unusual, even for mid-April based on other parks. The water was REALLY REALLY rough today - only 1 poor person trying to get around on his boat... Ehh... I enjoyed walking the paths in the park, and exploring Bellefontaine and Wapakoneta and maybe would come back to keep exploring the area. NOTE: the hurricane damage is very sobering. Some places demolished and others right next to them ok. There were just piles of debris. God bless this community. read more

Everything was great EXCEPT... the shower house in area A. It felt slimy, the first shower i tried didn't work and I had to move everything and the next night the stall had mold all over the shower curtain. read more

Nice lake, but so ridiculously overcrowded, I would never consider camping there. We got a new (used) camper last summer, and have been checking out some nearby state parks as we get the old rig ready to hit the road. While the lake here is beautiful, if our early October visit shows even a glimpse of how overcrowded this place is during prime time in the summer, we'll be staying FAR away... read more

Another state park. It's right by a pretty looking lake. The park has some good and bad things. It overall looks pretty nice. The facilities could use some work. It's not a humongous park, but there's lots of room for campers. It's mostly along the northern shore of the lake. The campground takes up most of the park. It has a good view of the lake. There's a beach that's kept up pretty well. Campground facilities include bathrooms and laundry. Most of the bathrooms here are nasty. It's like they're never cleaned. The campground area also can easily flood when it rains. This is a good park to walk around. Even if you're not camping for the night. There's lots of bars and restaurants. read more

Busy place, LOTS of kids, 10MPH speed limit strictly enforced, not uncommon to see the OSHP in the park. Very peaceful at night!

Asked for helped from a person in the AO section because it was our first time at this particular park. It was not our first time camping by any means but never have been disrespected by any other campers before. Long story short we asked for help finding our site and got chastised for driving 14 in 10 mph. Human mistake. But seems as though every single truck driving by was going about 20mph. Only difference was my skin is brown..Every camper area looked fine with not one stick but our non electric had clesrly had no maintenance. We had to clean hundreds of sticks before we put our expensive equipment up. The signs to find the non electric sites are not easy to see. Maybe put on your website that this is NOT a place for tent campers. It's over crowded with RVs, CAMPERS, and TRUCKS. This is not a place for people that really camp. And not a place for people that love the environment. I won't be coming back. read more

Went last year and was very enjoyable. We have a teardrop camper so we really did not need full hookup, but it came with a covered picnics table that made it worth the extra 5 bucks. Our pug enjoyed the shallow swimming area too. Nice shaded areas off of the lake made me pick this state park again for the upcoming holiday. read more

Well, there were a few things that we really liked about our experience here, and a few things that were really average. There were also a few things that made this experience rather unpleasant and that's why I am only giving this experience a two star rating. First, the good. The park is really pretty and scenic. The beach was especially beautiful. The sand was nice, clean sand. (aside from the dirty cigarette butts, and other small garbage that people had left behind which is to be expected.) We really liked that the bathroom was very close to the beach as we were travelling with small children for this trip as we camped with our friends that have toddlers. The little outdoor shower was also a nice way to rinse off the smelly lake water and sand before hopping into the vehicles and heading back to camp. The average would be the playground areas. The equipment near our campsite was rather old and worn, but the main irritation for us was that there was not an area for parents to sit comfortably to watch their children. We ended up sitting on a blanket under a tree on the ground because there are no benches and very few shady areas near the park. The camp commissary was about average for most campgrounds, though we felt the price for firewood was a bit higher than most we have seen in our other camping adventures. The bad were the restroom facilities, the shower house, and most of all the staff/security. The restrooms were filthy, and very run down. I understand that bugs will get in because the doors stay open, but the inch deep layer of dead insects stayed there all weekend. I really would have liked the restroom to have been cleaned or checked at least once while we were there. Bugs are gross, but the shower house literally made me gag. The shower drains were really slow draining because of the massive globs of hair and garbage clogging them. I used my (thank GOD) flip flopped foot to scoot the hair away and it honestly looked like I had rolled a dead gerbil out of the drain. NO, there wasn't a rodent in the drain, it was just that clogged from lack of cleaning. As someone who had a small child with me, this was rather disturbing. At one point we found an "adult novelty" in the drain, which my son though was a balloon and tried to grab! I don't expect the Ritz when I'm camping, but if I am paying to stay somewhere, I do expect at least the minimum level of cleaning to have been completed. The last issue we had was with the staff. When we first arrived, we were told we had to pay $3 per car for parking, which we did... for 4 cars. After checking in to get our campsite assigned so we knew where to go, we find out that parking was free for us because we were camping there and that the fee is only for guests. We were then told it is non-refundable and that they were sorry but "now you'll know for next time." $12 isn't a lot of money, but we work hard for our money and that is $12 we didn't owe, a credit to the commissary would have been acceptable or a credit towards a future camping trip, but we were offered nothing. Another issue is that we were under the impression that there was security that would be roaming around throughout the weekend making sure rules were enforced and campsites were secure... we were wrong. At 1:00 am after asking our neighbors 6 sites down to please turn their music down just a little because we had small children that were being kept awake we had to CALL the ranger station and request they come quiet the neighbors down. This was 2 hours after the noise policy went into effect, or so we were advised. If they were truely patrolling the area, wouldn't they have know about the noisy people? The people beside us heard us call and came over to thank us for doing something about the noise. All in all I would say that if you are looking for a very no frills experience and cleanliness isn't a concern, this may be a good place for you. Make sure you are also aware of the no alcohol policy that exists in the park, we didn't know about it until we arrived as it was not disclosed in any of our reservation information and we didn't know until we got to the park and saw the huge "Alcoholic Beverages Prohibited" sign. With a few minor tweaks, this could be a really great place to spend a weekend! read more

Great park, typical state park sites with electric and no water or sewer. Facilities were pretty dirty and could use some work. School just started so it's not too busy, I'd hate to see what this place is like on a summer weekend, probably packed. There are plenty of waterfront sites on the lake and the channels. Boat docking space disappears really quickly on the weekends, so if you must have a spot reserve one for $20 extra a day. No open alcohol in the campground or any of the park properties on the lake. It's also forbidden on the lake and the rangers and police hide in the trees with binoculars looking for offenders then dispatching one of their unmarked boats...it's a big fine. Like all of the other state parks, this one utilizes "camper hosts" who are supposed to clean up, help people find their sites and back in, etc...instead they camp for free for six months, ride around all day on golf carts and cuss at the other hosts in front of your children. Worst idea ever Ohio!!! The camp store has basic items and the desk is usually ran by kids who know nothing about the area. Their are plenty of well kept playgrounds for the kids but this park lacks in programs for kids read more

They sold us a shitty camp spot, then had a condescending asshole come belittle us and tell us our spot was wrong, get shitty and tell us our site was in a ditch. The camp fire pit was moved so it was our mistake of the wrong campsite, but he acted like we screwed us everything at the site. read more

Great place to get away! Far enough away from C'bus that you feel like you're on a vacation but close enough to not dread the drive back. This park is impressively clean and full of friendly park go-ers. Unlike Buckeye Lake, Indian Lake is more family oriented so things don't tend to get out of hand. Just a tip- the book out camping spots so quickly so don't be surprised if you can't get one at the last minute. Sometimes they go a year in advance (holidays). read more

The lake is very lovely. The swimming pool looks great. The camping is lots of people very very close together. This is very unappealing to my family. There is no hiking here, only a 1.4 mile loop. It is very flat and is like walking through a park. It is maintained nicely. It is only for people who want to use the lake or swim. There is nothing else. If you have a loud group anywhere in the vicinity, you are out of luck. Even if they are only talking loudly, you cannot escape. read more

We love camping and we love trying different parks. This was our second visit to this park but it's been a few years since our first visit. I like that this park has full hook ups. We have a pull behind camper so I love full hook ups. But let's get to the nitty gritty.......not everyone poops in their camper. We just don't. So I wasn't super happy that the bathrooms were so far away from the full hook up sites. (They could use more bathrooms) While we're on the subject of their bathrooms, let's talk about their bathrooms. The closest one to our site was the beach bathroom. And while I didn't use the men's side, I'll tell ya, the women's side needs help. One sink did not work at all. As far as the other bathrooms throughout the park- sinks did not work, the sinks were VERY stained and oddly enough, one bathroom had a slide latch lock on the OUTSIDE of the main door. What the heck?? Why?? This leaves a lot of room for teenagers to play pranks and lock people in the bathroom. So the shower houses. Very nice! Clean, private; appear to be new. I love the fact that next to the beach they have a little cove that says, "dog beach." Super cute. Also super filthy. My dogs would have nothing to do with it. And we're talking about a beagle that tried to carry around a dead fish tail so he's not picky, folks. We were there on a weekend and no activities for the kids. Not even a movie night and they have an ampetheater. They rent out canoes, kayaks, peddle boats, etc. Except it was closed!! Really?!? I don't know, over all I guess it's a pretty typical Ohio State Park. I have no issue with going back. Positives- the lake view, especially from our site, was amazing. If you're a boat owner-this is the park for you. Very good park for boat owners! The breeze. The weekend we went was blazing hot but we stayed comfortable because of the amazing breeze from the lake. I totally recommend getting a dip of ice cream from the camp store!! yummo!! read more

Camped here for 4th of July, Labor Day a none holiday week. One week we got full hook ups on the lake circle which was awesome. Will give them 5 stars when they add more full hook ups. New showers are really nice. Hope they get the budget to improve their old bathrooms over time. We were there for the opening of the new multimillion $$ pool. Very nice! Agree with another reviewer here. Boaters campground. Hard to beat. Warning though weekends bring way too many boaters. Week days are best. read more

There is a beach for the family. I would encourage you and your family to wear shoes when going into the lake. There is a maple festival a that park. At the festival there is hayrides, tours, music, and plenty of food. read more

If I could give a zero I would. No explanation on the website about camping by boat docks. Reserved for 3 nights. Get to the site and it's in a parking lot. No fire ring. No grass. No trees. Just hot asphalt. We tried running our camper a/c and a fan at the same time and it kept tripping the breaker. When I talked to the manager the only remedy was to send maintenance to tell us it won't be fixed till Monday. We are leaving Monday. Had to plug the camper into the neighbors box. Never been here before and will never come back. Horrible customer service. Manager didn't even say sorry. Maintenance guy was nice. read more

One of the better Lake State Parks in Ohio, plenty to do around the whole area, fishing, boating, and walking trails. Need more time to explore the area but why I have been able to see, its nice. read more

This is a very pretty park, especially in the Autumn. Camping here is quite challenging however due to a nearby high population of redneck hillbilly duck hunters who start firing rifles at around 5am. If you plan to camp, bring earplugs. read more

Never have had a bad time at the lake or park. Been going there for four years now. The only draw back that I've seen is that people won't pick up after their dogs. It just goes to show what these people are like. Overall the place is wonderful, of course we only use the park on weekdays...not very many people there. The park help is very good, and friendly. read more
