There's also new blue playground equipment including a fancy swing/zip-line thingy for kids. Trees offer shade and the nearby lake makes for nice scenery for adults. In that case, just proceed to the next intersection and make a left. There's new, stylish, and fun playground equipment for kids including a spider-web shaped climbing dome, a rocking boat, and spinning bench. There's also the classic swings, two playground units, and a sandbox. For larger kids and adults, check out the volleyball court and basketball area. We saw a lively family gathering at the gazebo near the playgrounds. Overall, certainly a positive experience worth checking out if you're in the area and looking for some outdoor activities!

Mostly open green space, of course, but half a dozen decent shade trees by the parking lot and playground. And it's a pretty good playground. A few small shelters. Huge parking lot, and I expect many games are played here during the summer. Pretty empty at 3pm on a weekday. This would be a nice place to bring lunch, or bring Baby K to play a bit. Very clean and well-maintained, lots of trash cans.

There is a restroom facility at the main parking lot, and those have reopened. There is a small playground (a few slides, activities, and a little bit of climbing) on the other side of the lot, along with two open-air shelters with picnic tables. This side also features the pretty pond, which offers catch-and-release fishing, and access to the Shagbark Loop trail, which is a gravel path through a meadow and a wooded section that is the longest available one at 1.1 miles, and is pet-friendly. It connects to the short grassy Bluestem Trail in a meadow, or can be looped back around to stay on Shagbark the entire time. This trail also shows the park's roots as farmland, as you can see old farm equipment in the woods along the way, and there is also a wetland area. If you take the Shagbark all the way back towards the front of the park, you will also encounter Blues Creek. There is another small parking lot available here, along with another trailhead for Shagbark. If you head out past the restrooms near the main parking lot, there is a sledding hill and a trailhead for the grassy Fox Run trail. There is currently a storywalk on this side, as well. You can connect to the grassy Meadowlark Trail. Both trails are pet friendly. They are mainly meadow, but there is a short section that winds through the woods. Blues Creek also has a "Be a Star" astronomy activities available right now as you explore the park - even the story walk featured a book about space. Very pretty and relaxing park!

There were no signs or colors for trails along the way. If you decide to venture out anyway on foot, at least bring a gallon of water in the event you have gone the wrong way and need to walk all the way back like I did.

Pulling into the Kroger lot, I noticed a path and a sign for it. The north entrance is along Kroger's side lot; another entrance is in the neighborhood behind it, apparently. I took a short walk on a fairly nice spring day. Woods, a ravine, a stream. Birds, shade, and peace, not exactly in the heart of town but right beside some built-up areas. I'd love to have this in my neighborhood. No bikes, and that's fine- it's for walking, and pausing.
