Clean, friendly staff, and great equipment. We even saw Dave Chapelle so highly recommend

Great service...beautiful day on the water. Totally recommend Birch Bark Canoe Livery for a relaxing time down the Mad River.

The experience here was amazing. My review is during Covid so I was curious to see how they operated under a pandemic. All of the staff was wearing masks and being safe with social distancing. I went canoeing here so that is what my review is based on. Showed up and checked in. They require you to fill the waiver out online so it's contact free. You are allowed to bring coolers with you for food and drink. This trip was absolutely beautiful. It's super shaded so even on the hottest day, you can actually enjoy yourself without feeling disgusting and sweaty. Overall I would definitely travel out here again to go canoeing or kayaking. The staff and the scenery is enough to travel a bit.

Went here for Father's Day adventure, wasn't disappointed. We were able to kayak the water, took about 2 hours, didn't seem like 2 hours so that was nice. We'll go back for sure

I've never kayaked before but this was so easy and relaxing. The boys that helped me in and out of the kayak were wonderful.

“It was an 87 degree day, but in the river felt like 70 due to the spring water and the amount of shade!”

Taylorsville Metropark

Taylorsville Metropark

This park is a great place to run, bike, hike, fish, and put your canoe/kayak into the Great Miami…read more I am here almost daily. The park provides an access point to one of the best bike-trail systems in the United States running all the way north to Troy and south to Dayton where it branches off to Xenia, Hamilton, and Cincinnati. The former town of Tadmor is located just a mile and a half down the trail. It is most gone except for the foundation stones of the old mill. You can see the remnant of the canal almost the entire way. The east side of the park, near the top of the dam, has a wooded, unpaved trail with a 4-5 mile hiking/trail running loop that has a great view of the river. Along the way there are some great rock outcroppings, and the opportunity to see deer, heron, woodpeckers, and the occasional eagle. Taylorsville is a great little gem of a park on the north side of Dayton.

Another GEM in the Five Rivers Metropark crown!! Used to come here all the time when I lived…read morecloser, so I was happy to make a return visit while back in the area. SO MUCH to see/do here that you'll need several visits (at least!!) to even scratch the surface. There's so much to see/do every season, it's tough to know where to start... Bike, fish, hike, picnic, take zillions of pictures, watch for deer and other "residents," and more!! Be sure to view the MASSIVE dam, it's impressive!! Don't miss seeing what there is to see at all of the separate entrances, definitely something for EVERYONE!! Next time, I'm bringing my bike!! Enjoy!!

Blues Creek Park - Pond

On our most recent visit to Blues Creek, it looks like everything has reopened for use except for…read morethe water fountains. There is a restroom facility at the main parking lot, and those have reopened. There is a small playground (a few slides, activities, and a little bit of climbing) on the other side of the lot, along with two open-air shelters with picnic tables. This side also features the pretty pond, which offers catch-and-release fishing, and access to the Shagbark Loop trail, which is a gravel path through a meadow and a wooded section that is the longest available one at 1.1 miles, and is pet-friendly. It connects to the short grassy Bluestem Trail in a meadow, or can be looped back around to stay on Shagbark the entire time. This trail also shows the park's roots as farmland, as you can see old farm equipment in the woods along the way, and there is also a wetland area. If you take the Shagbark all the way back towards the front of the park, you will also encounter Blues Creek. There is another small parking lot available here, along with another trailhead for Shagbark. If you head out past the restrooms near the main parking lot, there is a sledding hill and a trailhead for the grassy Fox Run trail. There is currently a storywalk on this side, as well. You can connect to the grassy Meadowlark Trail. Both trails are pet friendly. They are mainly meadow, but there is a short section that winds through the woods. Blues Creek also has a "Be a Star" astronomy activities available right now as you explore the park - even the story walk featured a book about space. Very pretty and relaxing park!
