l bought a 2014 Toyota Tacoma with 65,000 miles on it. I was stoked, the customer service was great, got me out same day with the truck. The truck seemingly ran fine and everything appeared good aside from the 8 year old tires on the truck which I spent $1,100 replacing. No Rust! About 3 months later I take it in for an oil change and an inspection.. ended up needing to replace Fan clutch, Idler pulley, Lower control Arms + Alignment, Tie Rods, Alternator(was cracked and failing), CV Axles, Brake lines, Front differential had no fluid in it. I was told the truck was serviced, the oil was changed before i bought it, the oil was black and thin as water after 2500 miles. I was told to bring the truck in to Ohana's mechanics, who said the truck is fine and nothings wrong with it, went and dropped the brand new diff fluid right after to find excess metal shavings and black diff fluid after less than 200 miles of it being flushed and refilled. Ended up having to replace the front differential and the brand new CV axels which had failed due to a failing diff. Not even two weeks later, here I am now with check engine lights and a code for bad knock sensors. I am currently $9600 deep into a $26,000 dollar truck I thought i was buying from a reputable source. All of my friends and family feel bad that this is happening and say I should take legal action. Im not sure what to do at this point. The only support ive gotten from Ohana was a trade in offer which now doesnt make sense because im $9600 in debt on top of what I still owe on the truck and basically have a lifetime warrantied all new front end. Ive already had several people tell me if they knew I was going to Ohana, to not buy a used vehicle from them. In my opinion, this does not feel like "Ohana" read more

Two main reasons you need to use Ohana motors. A) The GREATEST customer service we've ever experienced aaaaand B) The most adventurous car company you'll ever rent from. David, one of the employees, picked us up from the airport and took us back to the office to get our car. He was so friendly and made us feel like immediate friends. In fact, when we arrived at the office, he sat down with a map of Kaua'i and outlined all the fun things we needed to do. He marked his favorite little restaurants in each section of the island, which meant a lot to me! He told us the most epic hikes. He gave us directions to a secluded beach that we would NEVER have known about without his advice! He even told us which "must-see locations" we might forego, based on our interests and his experiences. It was amazing! We were encouraged to have fun with our car (a little bright green Hyundai Accent). At one point, we drove through Polihale state park, on long bumpy dirt roads, to access a really epic beach. We passed a few other people in rental cars, also heading toward the beach. When we arrived, they told us "Our rental company forbade us from taking any dirt roads. But we came out here anyway." We were suprised: in direct contrast, OUR rental company had encouraged us to adventure and explore, and had even recommended this drive, dirt roads and all! We went EVERYWHERE on Kaua'i, and a lot of that was thanks to the service, advice, friendliness, and trust of this wonderful company. If you want to have a car looked at by a mechanic before you purchase it, don't take it to Destination Auto. Destination Auto services and repairs the majority of cars sold by Ohana Motors. I purchased a 05 Subaru Outback with 98,000 miles on it from one of Ohana Motor's customers. He owned it for a very short time and put less than 3,000 miles on the car. He said that he noticed shortly after buying it that the engine light came on. I took it to Destination Auto since they were the ones who serviced it & I paid them the inspect the car and change the oil since this would have been it's first service since sold. Marc from Destination Auto said the car needed a catalytic convertor and it would cost $550 installed. With in a year's time Destination Auto racked up a bill of almost $4000. They charged me $1200 for the catalytic convertor and did the last repair of changing the valve gaskets. Two months after the repair the motor burns up because of no oil. So basically between Ohana Motors and Destination Auto you can expect any car without a service plan to cost you some $$$ and only last less than 20,000. The reason I'm giving Ohana Motors a 2 star is because they use Destination Auto do the majority of their service and service contracts. Ohana Motor's was nice enough to contact me and was willing to buy the car for scraps and put it towards the sale of another car. Ohana Motors is definitely located in an ideal place because everyone passing by can't help themselves but to check out the vehicles they have on their lot. Over the years, we bought a car, an SUV, and 2 trucks from them. Just recently, my husband saw a 2023 Toyota Tacoma that definitely caught his eye...so guess what? We drove in and after taking it for a test drive...we were sold! Ohana means family and they've always treated us like family. When i first arrived on Kauai i went to Ohana Motors as i had heard they had integrity and were honest folks, and i have to say that was NOT my initial experience. The first vehicle they offered me was a rat trap and they tried to sell it to me for six times more than it was worth. i decided to go back and give them another try and unfortunately was not able to find anything that suited my needs.
