Buyer beware, this company doesn't have good customer relations or trusty vehicles. I bought two vehicle from them in the past 20 years and spent over $40,000. The second vehicle is a lemon and keeps breaking down every few months. I bought the extended warranty for an extra $5000, and their service manager Carlos has very poor communication skills and makes me feel like I've done something wrong when I take the car in to get serviced and repaired under the warranty. I told him I would never buy another car from them after this horrible experience and he yelled at me and said "GOOD!" Also, when it comes to service and parts I've had King auto take months to get a part in because their service rep forgot to order it. They can't get parts! My 2013 Ram 1500 has been in for a few repairs over the last few years as it is getting up in mileage. The issue with their service is that they have a very difficult time getting parts for the repairs. It took 4 months for a transmission to arrive. I got a crate motor shipped from the mainland and delivered to Oahu for my sons truck in 10 days (just for reference).They have ordered me a new stereo, that has yet to arrive after 9 months. Right now, I have waited 7 weeks for a starter and thermostat and they are still not here. I just get the runaround on when they expect them. I was originally told 7 - 10 days, which would have been fine and normal. Basically, don't bring your car or truck there for any real repairs unless it's a warranty thing (which mine are) and you have something else to drive for quite a while. read more

BEWARE OF REPEATED FRAUD & NEGLIGENCE ESP WITH WARRANTY REPAIRS....! I brought my 2016 Dodge Journey into King Auto after a breakdown. From the start, the service was frustrating. I paid my extended warranty deductible (over $500) expecting that the repairs would resolve the issue. When I picked the car up, the vehicle was still making the **exact same grinding noise** that I had reported. I immediately brought it back, meaning moments after I paid over $500 for the repair, and they took it back and claimed to have fixed it two days later, which it still was not. Then....instead of honoring the original repair and the "per breakdown" warranty coverage (which clearly states the deductible is charged once per breakdown, not per item), I was told by Mia and Carlos that I'd need to pay another deductible for what was the same problem and definitely part of the same Warrantied "breakdown". Weeks went by while I waited for additional parts to be ordered, and I was left without use of my vehicle. Despite pointing out their own warranty obligations--and even referencing the warranty pages directly--they continued to push back and insist on multiple deductibles for a repair that was never properly completed in the first place. To make matters worse, I later learned from another mechanic that the repair codes King Auto initially pulled already indicated the axle and related issues. In other words, they should have caught and fixed everything during the first diagnostic instead of stringing me along and trying to charge me again. Now my ABS brake system light has gone on due to the repeated problems that have started April 30 and persisted still to this day September 30! Literally five months have gone by and they still failed to fix the problem. This experience has cost me a TON of time & money just to fight for my consumer rights. I've never dealt with such misleading, negligent, and unprofessional handling of a warranty repair. King Auto clearly prioritizes squeezing customers for extra deductibles over honoring their obligations to professional conduct, ethics, and workmanship. Hello. I recently applied to purchase a Toyota Land Cruiser Hardtoop thru Alibaba website. The transaction was conducted by Nurell Ferguson for $4500.00 USD being $7262.75 AUD. We needed an oil change and general check of the standard items on my 2016 Pilot, Marc was the person that took care of our car. They were able to check everything out and get my vehicle back to me as promised in almost exactly an hour. After my car was checked out Marc told me everything looks great, always good to hear, and that they would see me soon for a recall on the auto-start button. Over all Marc and the staff inside were extremely kind, courteous and professional. I'll continue taking my car here as long as I own it. It's a recommend from me! read more

I bought a brand new 2021 Jeep Cherokee from here back in 2021. My car started having battery issues and I called to make an emergency appointment, and they were able to take me in the next day. They did not have any loaner cars available for me and after speaking on the phone with customer service, they told me my car will take 1-1.5 hours tops and I will be able to wait for my car to finish. When the 1.5 hours was up I asked the mechanics for an update on my car and he said the battery test takes at-least 2 hours. I asked if they are able to pay for my rental car since it's in my warranty contract and they said they needed to talk with Chrysler about this matter. I'm still waiting for my car as I'm typing this hoping that it's just a battery problem! read more

I brought my 02 Dodge Durango in to program a new Key Fob, They did not program it but charged me $90 for nothing!? Even the manager wouldn't help. They said it would not program! I bought my own key fob programmer and did it myself for $40, so was not a problem with the vehicle or key fob, they basically stole my money! avoid this place like the plague!! Also our 02 durango had a few recalls that they said they would do but never did after I was not happy with the manager. My wife and I have only owned Hondas and Acuras since we've been married, and have always felt the cars were excellent values. In 33 years there have been 4 Hondas and 3 Acuras. We have taken our Acura MDX in for service at King twice, and found the service department to be dismal. Both times we waited way too long before anyone took care of us. Not even "we're sorry, we're swamped, and we'll be with you as soon as we can". They were focused on their computers. On one occasion, it took an entire day for an oil change, even though we scheduled the service appointment. So when we found ourselves needing to buy a new car, it made no sense to buy another Honda, and we ordered a Toyota from Servco. read more

Unfortunately, there is no iota of customer service at this business. When scheduling the oil change appointment, the receptionist barked orders at me and acted like I was a massive inconvenience. She didn't even want to take my name or number down. She gave me two options of time 7:30am and 8am. I chose the 8am and confirmed with her that it was indeed 8am. I arrived a few minutes late and the attendant in the lane told me it was no problem. He then looked up my last name and told me my appointment was at 7:30am. He told me it would be two hours at a minimum to get in that morning. I didn't have that kind of time so I asked to reschedule. He rudely told me that it would probably be a two hour appointment if I rescheduled because I would most likely show up late again. He was rude, and again, acted like doing his job was a massive inconvenience. Maybe if we were local we wouldn't have gotten this kind of treatment. They scheduled me for a 9am service appointment and then didn't start working on the car until 2pm. I had to call off work to make this appointment and I sat in the waiting room for 5 hours thinking my car was being repaired while it just sat in the lot. I just so happened to walk back to the garage, suspicious of how long the supposed repair was taking and happened to see them bringing it in off lot as they saw me. Their excuse was they've been busy. Don't schedule someone a 9am appointment if you can't get them in for another 5 hours then! I scheduled basic service 2 weeks in advance and was told the wait would be about 1 hour for an oil change. When I arrived I was told the wait would be 3-4 hours for an oil change. Evidently one of their service persons did not show up for work. I can understand this and recognize this is not the fault of King Auto; however, they should have made a courtesy call to inform me so I would not have made the trip for nothing. Took my Jeep to get a part fixed and they quoted me on a part they were getting from O Reilys Auto Parts down the road. I also called O Riley's for a quote of the same part and the price they quoted was less than what King Auto reported (it didn't include labor). You're better off buying the part you need yourself and paying a local mechanic to place it for you. In my opinion this place has shady dealings and is not honest. Update: Been waiting 3 months to get my factory recall part installed. Called many times and was told I was put on a waiting list, but couldn't tell me where I fell on the list. They were not able to give me a time frame as to when my part would be available and placed. This is a horrible dealership. I regret buying my Jeep from them. I had my oil changed today and the initial walk in was horrible. Picture this, when you walk in a girl is sitting there on her phone not acknowledging you at all, no greeting nothing, when I asked who I had to see about my appointment she gave me attitude about it. Told me I need to talk to these guys not even directing to who and when I walked over to a group of service guys she preceded to give me more attitude about it. Once they finally checked me in and took my keys the service was quick and they washed my car for me before they gave it back. The service consultants are rude, act as if you are interrupting their quiet time to just sit behind a desk. My Honda had a bearing sound coming from the engine compartment. Consultant opened the hood, determined it was the power steering pump, total replacement $1100. I took it to Gary's Auto, pump was okay, hoses and valve needed replacement, $326. I didn't purchase a car here, but highly recommend their auto detailing. We were getting ready to ship my car to the mainland and had cleaned it ourselves (to pass USDA inspection prior to being loaded at Matson). The USDA inspection turned out to be much more stringent then we realized, and then we discovered that King Auto Center has a specific detailing package for cars being shipped on Matson or other shipping lines. It was a great deal (I think around $40) and Matt, the guy who did my car, was incredibly thorough and fast. My only wish is that I would have found out about their detailing services before I was moving away---I definitely would have brought my car in for regular detailing. read more

I've been using King Auto services for about 8 years. 9 X out of 10 I am dissatisfied with my experience here. So why did I keep going up for all those years? Well, I bought my car brand new, had it shipped over to the island and wanted a Honda certified dealership to do all the work on my car for records. However, the entire staff at this location is extremely aloof and especially the girls at the appointment counters could care less whether you actually book an appointment with them. On that note, I recently went in to get a rock out of my tire and service manager told me I needed my brake pads and rotors replaced. They also said they don't replace just one rotor so I would need to replace everything and it totaling to about $500. I know this place is notorious for ripping people off, however I really didn't realize how bad it was until I went to another local company and got a quote for less than half of that price. Unfortunately this company has no qualms about ripping off their customers whether or not they have been long-term with them. I know it is standard for the company of the size to rip off the clients, however with their lack of service and bad attitude, they really should consider their overall business model. Just another example of bad service on the island. In closing, I can remember countless times where I walked away from the company feeling scammed and like they could care less whether or not I received a good experience. There are a number of small locally owned repair shops on island. So definitely don't waste your money going here! read more

They have a service rep named Del Peralta who will make your experience awful. I've had to use him a couple times for my vehicle. He is passive aggressive and hostile. He will lie to you, and cheat you. He will harass and bully you. Until he is replaced, be wary about using King Auto service. This dealership will suffer until they clean up the service department. I'm told they just hired a new service manager. Good! I hope he cleans things up. No reason to treat people so badly on a small island. read more

NOTE: This review pertains to the service department at King. I would give the sales department 5 stars ... except that buying a new vehicle with them means having to get it serviced there while under warranty. I wish there were a way to give negative stars, because that's what the service department deserves. Not only are 99% of the employees in there rude (Ryan is the 1%), they also have no consideration for your personal property and often return your vehicle with new scratches, dents, stains & PROBLEMS. We've had a number of issues over the course of our truck's warranty. Our tint has been scratched up, oil & grease smeared on the dash & doors, weather stripping removed and then stuffed back, haphazardly, doors and tailgate dinged. When the starter went out, we had it towed to King and told them we knew it was the starter. Well, apparently, they still had a mechanic go out to the truck and try to start it, to make sure it was the starter...and said mechanic left the key in the ignition, turned. The result? Not one, but TWO completely dead deep cycle batteries - which they then tried to charge us for! They are also reluctant to provide a courtesy vehicle, even though they routinely take weeks, even months to complete repairs on a vehicle. And you know they aren't taking care of the service vehicles, because we got one with a safety check that had expired almost 4 months prior. We've also had them return our vehicle with only part of the work done, but not mention anything until we ask about it ... and then it's a lame excuse for why it wasn't attended to. They "fixed" a problem with the AC not working on certain settings, only to have it completely stop working on us 1 day later. It's difficult to get an appointment within a couple of weeks, they take forever to do the job, they do crap work for the most part and then they overcharge you for the privilege. As much as I would love to upgrade to a Ram in the next year or so, the thought of having to deal with King's service department for another 5 years is enough to keep me away. read more

THE WORST SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND CUSTOMER SERVICE I'VE ENCOUNTERED! Today I went in for a front tire change..both tires desperately "needed to be replaced ASAP" as per their recommendation two visits prior.. Dan was our "lovely" service attendant when we first arrived. He questioned and challenged me up and down when I told him I knew my tires were covered under my lifetime unlimited warranty through Mopar. He was the rudest, most out of line, unprofessional service representative I've encountered there or anywhere EVER..and MOST them at King are pretty darn rude from the gate. He ended up saying he would try to submit the claim and if it kicked back I WAS GOING TO PAY FOR THE TIRES!!. I proceeded to get right on the phone with Mopar and they said they would absolutely be covered. 5 hours..no exaggeration(10:30 appt..left at 3:30)..later..we were finally walking out..with no apology. No excuse for their incompetence. Nothing. At the 3 hour mark I went into the office from the waiting room where my husband, my 2 year old and myself had been waiting patiently, to question how much longer and they lied to me and said it was being worked on then. 4 hours later ..still no car. I went back in absolutely livid to question what the hell was the hold up with replacing 2 front tires on my car?!. The answer was the same.."they are working on it." Lies, lies, lies. Because I walked back to where my car had been idly sitting for 4 hours and the tires were removed and there were crickets. Not a soul around for the entire 20 minutes I was checking on the progress of my car. Absolutely unacceptable. These people should not hold a "leadership" status by any stretch of the imagination. The incompetancy level at this business is off the charts. Not to mention everyone from the receptionists to the service leaders to the machanics are rude and act like they are doing you a favor by being present for you. Beware..If you end up buying a car there, remember you will have to deal with an incompetent band of morons every time you need your car serviced. read more

We just traded in our truck for a 2015 Dodge Challenger RT Plus, and discovered that John Borales was the most patient, kind, and competent person that we've dealt with in a long time. After going back and forth for a couple of days, John went the extra mile, plus did extra paperwork, to make sure we got the car of my husband's dreams. We owe a huge debt of gratitude to John Borales for tolerating us! The business manager, Roy, was also a delight to work with. John even took us out for an in-service to learn about the vehicle, which is very high tech. We were able to drive off in about an hour and a half with smiles.
