Platter for two!
Karri S.

Amazing sushi that also happens to be vegan. The staff is friendly and quick. We were so impressed with the presentation and taste. So good

Justin K.

This is hands down the best vegan sushi I have ever had. We ordered and split the chefs special and black angel roll. It was so varied and delicious! I wish I lived nearby because I'd eat here all the time!

Obana was packed the first time we visited the restaurant. The second time we visited during off hours. The owner and staff were very helpful in identifying items without ingredients I am allergic to. Overall, it was delicious and colourful. The sushi were artfully created. It's easy to see why the restaurant was packed and had a line outside. Ohana is a great place if you are looking for an avocuddle.

Samurai to go

Wow. Just an amazing place. If you're the person who typically eats California, cucumber or shrimp tempura rolls this place if for you to have fun and experience sushi in the most enjoyable way. Personally my best/most fun sushi experience!

Dynamite Roll
A. R.

This is the first GOOD all vegan sushi restaurant I've been to. I loved the super cute outdoor seating. I ordered the "Dynamite Roll" and it was fantastic! I wasn't sure what to expect when it came to the tempura vegan shrimp, but it exceeded my expectations!!! Everything went together so well in this roll. I definitely recommend checking out this gem The staff was also super warm and welcoming.

Bento box, black angel, fried banana
Christian C.

I love this place! I thought it was going to be just vegan sushi and nothing else, but I was wrong. They do a bento box and I got general Tao tofu and a miso soup with steamed rice and edamame as well as the samurai maki pieces. I also tried the "black angel" which had a delicious vegan tartare in it that tasted surprisingly fishy. For desert I got the fried banana which came with a delicious creamy scoop of vegan ice cream. Oh, I also tried the lemongrass soup, pretty refreshing! Will definately order again for movie night!

Black Angel

We had the Black Angel! So yummy. I don't often eat vegan food when I go out, but this place was exceptionally yummy and creative. Highly recommend.

TBH I can't remember what these rolls were, but my friends and I enjoyed everything we got! Great to have another vegan sushi option in Montreal.

Assorted Platter
Andrea K.

I highly recommend getting the assorted platter. It's the best way to try all the different rolls they have. My favourite will always he the eclipse maki roll. Simple, yet so delicious. There's something about the black rice that gives it that extra special feel

We showed up at 5:30 without a reservation and I wasn't sure we'd be able to snag a table. And honestly, if we had gotten there 15 minutes later, we probably would have had a long wait. So far, so good. We were seated at a table near the sushi bar and there was a vibration coming through the floor that was loud and a bit unpleasant. The prices were a little high which was a little off putting. But, we saw a couple of options - like a sushi boat - on their website ... but it turns out that is only for takeout, which is just weird. Service was slow and the wait staff disappeared at times. Normally, these things would have me deducting stars. But can I just say that the food was so darn good that I can overlook all of it. It was absolutely outstanding. Vegan sushi rich with umami. Rich with flavor. We didn't miss the fish.

The food: delicious, creative, beautiful presentation, plentiful. My carnivore partner didn't miss the fish at all. We have a vegan sushi restaurant near us, but Bloom is better. I really appreciate the ease of booking and how I didn't have to think about what people were going to order. One hiccup was that I had indicated ahead of time that one of the guests had a seafood allergy, which I understand can be difficult for Japanese restaurant. I had expected them to tailor the $70 menu to her, however, they let us know that it was gonna be difficult and instead asked her to pick from the à la carte menu. She had no problem with this, but I felt bad and didn't want her to think that I had an indicated ahead of time of her dietary restriction. Overall, the meal was good. It was a little bit slow to start coming out. I think our total dining time was over two hours which was fine because we were celebrating something but for the first 30 minutes I feel like no food came out. A little bit on the salty side, but I enjoyed every dish. For the price point I think it was perfect. I would recommend this for a group dinner again. The high top tables weren't the most comfortable for such a large group as we were essentially split in two, but for a group of 6-8 it would be perfect!

We showed up on time for our reservation. The restaurant is dark, and sleek looking, so it could be a place for dinner or for drinks at the bar. We browsed the menu, and decided to go light and ended up trying the the following: - Edamame (with Furakake): Good. Soy beans can only be so different between restaurants. I will note that some of the soy beans we got were the biggest I've even seen. Furakake added needed flavour. - Avocado Truffle Tacos: OK. Quite tiny, but well made and tasted good. I didn't get any hint of truffle though. - Wagyu Dumplings: Good. But similar to any good quality non-wagyu dumpling I've had before. Overpriced. - Paradise Maki: Good. I like the texture of the tempura. - White Dragon Maki: Very good. I think the ponzu sauce elevates this dish another level. Service was pretty standard. Did all the tight things, and timely, but not particularly friendly. Overall, it was an OK visit. Food overall was generally good quality, but very expensive for the quality and quantity you get. But I also recognize that sometimes you pay for ambiance, and you certainly do here.

Located on the 45th floor, you can get beautiful panoramic views of the city, including of the St. Lawrence river. Highly recommend stopping by to watch the sunset transition into nighttime. Now onto their menu- I was expecting a bit more food options, but they really only have light bites/appetizers, so I'd eat elsewhere beforehand. I ordered the Wagyu brioche, which was incredible, but I wasn't as impressed with the crispy hosomaki, which was overly salty and didn't have that much dimension of flavor. The drinks were incredible and innovative though, incorporating authentic Japanese flavors and three eras of Japan's history. The bartenders and staff were very friendly and accommodating, managing to snag me a much coveted bar spot without a prior reservation.

You can also order to go here I believe. They really operate efficiently, expect fast service! Tables are tightly situated and there's a cozy bar situation where I sat this time, able to watch the chefs cook right in front of me. The daily specials are posted on their Instagram page, as well as written on pieces of paper around the restaurant. My server quickly helped me to water and a glass of sake. I placed a to go order for one of the daily specials, the grilled sea bass with sushi rice and salad, with some kimchi. I also ordered the BBQ chicken with tortilla and salad, as well as vegetable gyoza. Everything was incredible. Truly. The gyoza came topped with green onions and was SO crispy and hot and was perfect with their soy sauce. I thought sea bass was wonderful with a unique almost smoky flavor that melted in my mouth paired with the slightly sweet sticky rice. The barbecue chicken was great as well and better the next day. One thing I don't really understand is why they served plain flour tortillas cut into quarters with their food. We didn't utilize this, nor the white butter/mayo sauce that came alongside it. Once seated, things happen very quickly...it is go, go, go (in the best possible way.) Green beans were everyone's fave, but I have to mention the (pickled?) vegetables on the salad. So flavourful! Also tried the egg drop soup which is so tasty. Mains were the salmon tuna bowl, the beef short ribs, the shrimp burger, and 48 hour pork with curry sauce. Everything was wonderful! Finished with their soft serve ice cream, I had the cherry blossom but one of us had the sake, which is a shot of sake poured on top. Amazing! You can even have wasabi or ginger... They did an excellent job on flavors, textures, and sauces - it is so much more than your basic avocado roll! My favorite part of this place - they have 2 Omakase Experiences that are offered, and NOT everyone at the table is required to order. We did the Regular Omakase Experience between 2 people and it was a great way to taste all the popular items and then filled in with a la carte options. Regular Omakase Experience: (1) Edamame - Opted for this instead of Miso Soup (2) Crispy Gyoza - Perfectly crunch and paired very well with the almond butter-kimchi sauce (unexpected good!) (3) Mangoo - excellent flavors (4) Orenji - excellent textures (5) Rock & Roll Spicy - the apple in here was unique and delicious (6) Kamikase Somon - the texture of the vegan salmon was not for us (7) Avocat - similar to an avocado roll (8) Brownie - very rich and dense, wasn't for us. A La Carte Options: (1) Arancini - their sauce made this extraordinary (2) Mr.Crunch Roll - If you're not a truffle fan, this may not be for you (3) New Delhi - pakora meets sushi PS: Make a reservation. While there wasn't a wait, it was still a busy restaurant for Friday dinner.
