We truly don't know what we would have done without Jenna and the Ohana Events Team! From day one, she made the entire planning process so easy and enjoyable. Our wedding was at Cuneo Mansion and Gardens in Vernon Hills, along with a church ceremony that hadn't hosted a wedding in over 10 years -- so there were definitely a few unique challenges to navigate. My husband and I booked the in-between package from Ohana for our 8/13/22 wedding since we didn't feel the need for a full planner, and it was a great choice! We were paired with Jenna, and we loved her from the start. She is super nice, responsive, and makes sure you stay organized and have fun while planning! However, that title is quite misleading, as I texted with Sonya nearly daily for a month or two leading up to the wedding. She initially reached out around the 90 day mark prior to wedding. Sonya helped me maintain sanity in an otherwise insane time of my life (including wedding but also just in general). She was firm when she needed to be, herded all my MANY vendors, maintained professionalism when it was difficult to do so and acted as my advocate and vendor liaison. We had the pleasure of working with Emily as our month of planner and from our first meeting, I was able to relax about al the wedding details. A True Wedding Love Story This may sound strange but I remember our first conversation like it was yesterday. It was an immediate connection and unfortunately, I had been with other "frogs" to know this was the real deal! Our first conversation just flowed so seamlessly, it was an instant connection. Everything I had been looking for I had finally found! Often when I tell this story people thinking I'm talking about my new husband but I'm actually talking about our wedding planner Rachel! She was everything we could've hoped for and more. When we originally planned our winter wedding at The Blackstone Hotel, we knew we would need a day of planner to help us (specifically to support the ballroom flip/cocktail hour). I had seen that Danielle had planned/coordinated events at this venue before and was confident she would be a great asset/leader for our vendor team. As COVID turned our plans upside-down in late summer, we weren't sure we would need a planner if we only had 14 people at our event. Danielle encouraged us to keep her on and we couldn't have been happier with that decision. At our timeline meeting (over zoom) Danielle was patient as my fiance and I worked out our "disagreements," she helped us consider little details we would have never thought about (what song to play, who's bringing the rings, how to motivate a four year old flower girl...) and was generally a pleasure to spend time with. Danielle also helped MC my zoom shower (something she was a bit skeptical about at first) but kept us on time and was beyond helpful. I promised her this was a great skillset to add to her planning vitae! As the wedding day arrived, Danielle was a butterfly; floating from detail to detail making sure our day ran smoothly. She poured champagne, set up computers, operated our 360 degree owl camera, served plates, kept the photographer on time, moved chairs, cleaned up wrapping paper and I'm sure many other things that I didn't even notice but made the day run perfectly. She certainly took on tasks that weren't in her wheelhouse and did so with a huge smile! For our wedding, we either tested the limits of her services as a planner or didn't scratch the surface of what she can do. Either way, she was AMAZING and an integral part of our wedding. I had no intention of ever utilizing a wedding planner, but then the pandemic hit and suddenly I had under 3 months to adjust all my plans, including finding a new reception venue. I had the month-of-coordination package but was in constant contact with Danielle several months prior to the wedding and had Jenna as my coordinator (and was in contact with her nonstop about three months prior). I mainly hired them because I was concerned about navigating a wedding during Covid but they helped out in every aspect possible! They created a thorough timeline and went into details I would not have considered otherwise. Jenna was also extremely prepared (had the readings printed for the ceremony, helped pin the wreath on the flower girl wagon and other things I am sure I did not notice!) I was hesitant to hire an outside coordinator because we had a venue coordinator, but the venue coordinator does not do nearly the amount that Ohana does. Hiring Ohana is a NEED. I was first introduced to Danielle and we instantly connected. I felt she understood my vision and wanted to help create our dream wedding. We were lucky enough to be assigned to Sonya for the 90-day coordination package and she was the kindest, most patient, and organized planner. She responded quickly to emails and answered all of my questions, she took over communication with vendors and relieved much of the planning stress, she provided detailed checklists and kept me on track. She also created a detailed by the minute itinerary for the entire weekend for us, our vendors, and a shorthand version for our bridal party which was extremely helpful. Our wedding day was seamless with no hiccups and I can honestly thank Sonya for that. She made sure to keep the day moving on schedule, communicated with all of the vendors, and made sure to check in with me often. Even wedding guests and our parents gave raving reviews for Sonya. It's probably a good sign that I was about to write the same opening sentence as many others who have worked with Ohana Events and then later reviewed them. I was going to say, "Where do I even start?", but I know exactly where to start in describing Rachel's influence on our wedding because it was so critical to our amazing wedding (weekend) on Guemes Island in the Puget Sound off the coast of Seattle, WA. We hired Rachel as our day of coordinator because we needed a true professional present on the day of the wedding to ensure everything went smoothly so we could just enjoy the moment. We got that and so much more with Rachel. It all began with two multi-hour planning sessions many months before the wedding. Rachel was diligent and efficient with that time so it felt like we covered an enormous amount of ground in those calls, and her questions exposed so many areas/topics that we still needed to focus on. It just goes to show that you don't know what you don't know, and Rachel's expertise really shined through in those first calls (and so did her patience!). We really appreciated how professional she was throughout the process, and even though it was great that we liked Rachel as a person, it was super important to us that we hired an extremely competent wedding coordinator and Rachel certainly fits that description. Also my wife and I didn't have a traditional wedding, and even if that made it challenging at times, it clearly never once phased Rachel. She would accommodate our needs in whatever way possible, and she would offer advice if we explicitly asked for it (but she was quick to remind us that it was our wedding so we always had to make the final decision!).
