I tried a couple of her famous flavors before deciding- Neapolitan and an intense chocolate cake (I forget the exact name). Holy cannoli. First we'll talk about the Neapolitan- amazingly clever layers of chocolate and vanilla cake with not-too-sweet strawberry cream. Laurel's cake texture is perfection every time, moist and soft. The flavors were scrumptious. LOVE ON A PLATE. The chocolate which I got for my then fiance's birthday. Delicious, moist chocolate cake with layers of filling- chocolate buttercream (which I would bathe in if given the chance and guarantee that no one would judge me) as well as a light chocolate mousse. It was delicious but not too rich so that I could enjoy my whole piece of cake. I went with the Neapolitan for our wedding cake. It was gorgeous and amazing, beautifully decorated. Did it taste like a $125 cake? Sure. Did it look like a $125 Cake? Not so much. My cousin is expecting a baby! But having a 5 week old newborn made it hard to host a shower. Communication was also spotty. Being a new mom, I didn't have time to chase a vendor down. I also didn't have time to research and shop around. The email on their website is a no go. Initially I inquired about cupcakes but the expectant mother decided she wanted a cake instead. Always give the pregnant lady what she wants. It's her party. But after a few emails including the inspiration photos of CAKES, Laurel emails me a while later asking about CUPCAKE toppers from before. Confusing. She also doesn't utilize a single email thread which I think is not the best practice. She also doesn't always email back which I think is another not the best practice. I asked to order a couple of extra cupcakes and she didn't respond whatsoever. On the plus side, she followed up to see if I was satisfied and wanted to rectify the situation. On the not so plus side, she didn't follow through. I would give her 3 stars on my experience alone. I would give her + half a star for my friend's positive experience and am rounding up because this is a small business and she is working out of her home. read more

As an added treat at Christmas time, her home is decorated beautifully for the season. Teas are a relaxed time to sit with your friends and be served a lovely meal. Soup, salad, savories, scones, dessert, all were there! In the spring she served a most delicious Strawberry Soup! Laurel will do her best to accommodate the needs of your group. We ordered a chocolate flavored smash cake with banana cream filling and whipped cream frosting for a photo shoot prior to his party. That really turned out well with the stripped red and white and black piping. She even added a white chocolate decor with my son's name and the number "1" which stood out in photos.
