Not only did she accept my last minute order, but her cake far exceeded my expectations. Not only was it beautiful, it was delicious. Thank you, Laurel!
My mom ordered a last minute baby shower cake( same week as the shower in May ) via Texas to be delivered as a surprise to my house in Bay Area and Laurel was so sweet enough to accept it. She went above and beyond, even asking my mom if she wanted to have her stop for balloons on the way so sweet !!! the cake itself was amazing, so fresh , and the cream was so light and yummy! Loved how it was not overly sweet , it really was perfect! Thank you Laurel ! Your the best !
This review is long overdue. Laurel is an artist! Not only was she able to replicate the cake designs we wanted, the cakes tasted fresh and delicious too! Our guests still talk about the kids birthday cakes from a decade ago.
I had two cakes made for my sons first birthday. The first cake was for cake smash photos and the second for his first b day party. Both cakes looked and tasted amazing. The cake that was made for my sons first birthday party was above what I expected. I asked them to make a cake of Chica, the character from Sprout channel, And I was so amazed by the outcome!!! The cake was super detailed and looked identical to the character in the show. I would definitely come back here whenever I am in need of a cake!!
Laurel is such an amazing baker. Her cakes were super delicious and price was very fair. Pictures of our baby shower cake are posted on the website. I placed the order in early December knowing how quick bakers book up. She responded kindly and promptly event though she had her hands full with other projects and upcoming competitions. We picked her death by chocolate cake with chocolate ganache and vanilla cake with fresh banana cream filling. Both were outstanding and well received by all of our guests. We had many people tell us how beautiful the cake was and how yummy. We asked for service for 55 and we got more than we had planned for. Great job Laurel. Thank you so much. And we look forward to working with you again soon! God bless!
The first time I tasted Oh Cake was 10 years ago at a friend's wedding. And since that day my husband and I knew that we wanted to book her for our future wedding. So now, when it was finally our turn to start planning our wedding, and we made sure to track her down and thank goodness she is on Yelp because Laurel does all her masterwork from home. Upon meeting her, she was very professional and such a sweet lady. Her price is fairly reasonable and she was able to stay within our budget. We decided to go for her signature Neapolitan cake. It truly is one of the best cake I ever tasted! Our wedding guest loved it too. Some even came back for seconds. By the end of the night it was all gone. What I also love about Oh Cake is that Laurel said instead of saving our top tier, she will just bake us a fresh one for our first year wedding anniversary. We are beyond excited to have her delicious cake again! We highly recommend her and we will definitely be coming back to her for future events. THANK YOU AGAIN, LAUREL!
Laurel's work is amazing! She works from her home and is truly a cake artist! She specializes in a neopolitan cake, which is to die for, but she can make anything your heart desires! I love how the frosting looks amazing and how it doesn't taste too sweet and too whipped, it's made 'just right'. Each slice of cake is huge no matter how thin you slice it because the cake itself is so thick. Each slice is mouthwatering and so tempting you have to just dive in and take more than just one bite! Laurel's creations are exquisite and tasty. I can't wait to hold more parties, so that I can book another cake with her!
Laurel is so sweet and amazing no wonder she has so many reviews. She made my cupcake cake for bridal shower (carrot cake), wedding cake and desert table a variety of lemon cake (my favorite) lemons are from her garden, carrot cake, chocolate ganche, strawberries, mini fruit tarts. I mean the list goes on. My mom and her got along so well that she made the entire experience so seamless. She delivered everything to SF and by the time I walked in the room she had everything set up. When we got to our seats she had left us our personal mini box of strawberries for my husband and I. She is so sweet. My colors were gold, white, black and a pop of green. I bought all the cake displays and cake stands and she did everything else. I still have all that stuff and don't know what to do with it. Tasting- Best part, I mean cake more cake and more cake. I was so lucky to have great vendors like Laurel.
For my mom's 91st birthday. I was assigned with the task of ordering her birthday cake at the last minute. Laurel was just the most accommodating with just five days notice. Being a Chinese birthday, the design was a little out of Laurel 's usual work. But, she enthusiastically tackled our request and the results were just out standing. Our guests loved the cake. That cake got more pictures then our birthday girl. It was beautiful and delicious!
MINON CAKE! She has left us filled with joy and excitement. Laurel is soOOOO talented and the nicest! My Experience the cake: We ordered a minion cake for our boss with a beer mug. All the pieces were edible and the attention to detailed was AMAZING! Lemon flavored was light and not too sweet (well the fondant was sweet, but that doesn't count). All my coworkers loved it and were taking pictures like crazy. No one wanted to cut the cake and even when we did, we hesitated because it was too cute to eat. She is amazing! the emails: She reply to all my emails and offered the best suggestions. She replied to almost all my emails within 30 mins. She was so much help and was within the budget that was wanted. She is amazing! the calls: ok, only a minor down side... I tried calling her 3 times within 3 days to make a deposit over the phone, but she didn't pick up till the fourth day. She had me worried for a second. But then she answered every time I call after wards. She still is amazing! our budget: we had a small budget and she discussed her price and explained what we could do with our budget and the options, in the end we took her offer (IT IS THE BEST YOU ARE GOING TO GET, TRUST ME!!!). She is amazing! the status: She kept us us to date with the details and process all the way through and was great. She even sent us a picture of the semi-finiesh product. She is amazing! the price: i can't tell you ;) , you have to speak to her yourself, YOU WILL NO REGRET. Did I mentioned that she is AMAZING! overall: i can go on, but i won't. Hand down great, she even threw in so chocolate covered strawberries and delivery. I will be back for sure!!! I hope she will make more cakes for me...It was a honor to work with such a artist! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! THANK YOU LAUREL, YOU'RE THE BEST!!!
We are the return customers. I first tasted Laurel's cake at a birthday party and ordered a cake for a friend's baby shower we were hosting. The guests loved the cake and the flavors. I immediately placed an order for an other cake for a separate party that was coming up in the next month. As expected, again the cake was a huge hit with the guests. The best thing about Laurel's cakes is that she does great designs with butter frosting. The frosting is my favorite thing in her cake. It tastes light and with perfect sweetness. I know for sure that she is my goto person when I need a cake in the future.
I've been getting my birthday cakes made by Laurel since 2 years. She does an amazing job at replicating a design, and also suggests new ways of enhancing her designs. The taste of the cakes and the filling, be it any flavor is just outstanding! You have to have it to believe it! On a Side note, the Macarons that Laurel on the cakes are AWESOME.
Amazing job! Thanks for making my daughter's 7th birthday so unique. My daughter said the design of the cake is unbelievable, it's truly beyond our imagination. It's not just a cake, it's a piece of art! Thank you so much Oh Cake!

Phenomenal baker who bakes very high quality and tasty cakes, cupcakes, and assorted sweets. Laurel runs her small business from her home, and she is still operating in the Tri-City area during COVID. Her chocolate fill cupcakes and her toffees are AMAZING read more

The only place I buy my important cakes from. I always know laurel will do a fantastic job! She has never made a cake that didn't taste as good as it looked! Always satisfied with anything she makes! From the cake texture... To the LOOK of the cake. The handmade chocolates... The cake filling. Totally to die for! She is an incredible baker :) if I could give more than 5 stars, I would. She deserves it!! Thanks laurel! read more

Thank you Oh Cake! for the lovely wedding cake, it was beautiful, delicious, moist & everyone loved the cake. The chocolate favors were also a hit and everyone was asking where we got them from because they were delicious. We are so thankful for your superb services and you made our 4/25/2015 wedding extra special. We don't know what we would have done without you. Laurel is the best! my husband and I cake tested around the East Bay and went to several well noted bakeries including 2 old time bakeries that have good reviews but we did not find anything that wow'd us. Being a self proclaimed baker, I am very picky when it comes to baked goods. I wanted a wedding cake that my guests would enjoy. My sister found Oh Cake! from this site and I called and left a message for Laurel. I also followed up via email. Laurel contacted me in a timely manner and we were able to meet with her and order our wedding cake. Laurel also provided a sampling of the cake that we would order and did not accept deposit until we were certain that we loved it and would order through her. She is the best and I highly recommend her for your cakes! Things to take into consideration, Laurel's cakes are not frozen or bland like more established bakeries, they are moist and fresh. Laurel will work with you and keep your budget in mind. Laurel is also responsive and will get back to you if you leave her a message and/or email her. read more

This review is for Laurel's Teas she hosts. I have been to two, and both were five star! I went to a Christmas tea, and a Mother Daughter Tea in the spring. As an added treat at Christmas time, her home is decorated beautifully for the season. Teas are a relaxed time to sit with your friends and be served a lovely meal. Soup, salad, savories, scones, dessert, all were there! In the spring she served a most delicious Strawberry Soup! Laurel will do her best to accommodate the needs of your group. At our Mother Daughter tea, we had one vegan, and one with gluten issues. Laurel went over and above to make a appropriate meal for these two. Laurel's mantra is that no one goes away from the table hungry, and trust me you do not! I cannot say enough good things about Oh Cake's Teas, other than I'm looking forward to going again for this years Christmas Tea! read more

I spent a week calling every bakery in town in hopes of getting a custom cake for my sister's 17th birthday. After being turned down every single time (due to short notice) I came across Oh Cake's site. I called on Tuesday 8/14 and needed the cake by 8/16. The staff did not hesitate to take my order and meet my short window. I explained that I wanted something custom but it did not have to be ornate yet they exceeded my expectations. I sent her photos of what I was looking for, flavors, etc. They took payment over the phone and even let me borrow a few items to ensure that the cake was transported safely!!! I will definitely recommend them to anyone looking for custom cakes and treats! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR MAKING MY SISTER'S BIRTHDAY MEMORABLE!!! read more

Laurel did a fantastic job on my son's Cat in the Hat themed 1st birthday. We ordered a chocolate flavored smash cake with banana cream filling and whipped cream frosting for a photo shoot prior to his party. That really turned out well with the stripped red and white and black piping. She even added a white chocolate decor with my son's name and the number "1" which stood out in photos. The cake was the center piece that brought the decor together! The photo shoot was a smash. For his actual bday, we ordered two dozen vanilla and chocolate cupcakes also with banana cream filling. She got the colors right with the cupcake looking like thing 1 and thing 2: red cover sheets with turquoise frosting and white chocolate edible embellishments. Delicious, moist and creative cakes that doesn't break the bank...will definitely be back! read more

I RECOMMEND LAUREL 200%! =) *Very Reasonable Pricing *Delivery *BEAUTIFUL WORK! I cannot thank Laurel enough for the amazing! cake she made for my daughter's first birthday! Everyone was talking about it (and took pictures next to it, lol), & no one wanted to ruin it by eating it! =P But of course we had to, and the birthday girl especially dove face first into it & could NOT get enough... =D My only regret is that I did not get to meet Laurel in person & thank her myself...but no worries, we will most definitely meet again! read more

Laurel has been making my daughters Birthday cakes since she was 1 year old. Senja is now 7. Her cakes are so amazing I have been having her provide monthly Birthday Cakes and other special occasions for where I work. My new favorite flavor is chocolate with a cookies and cream filing. Her cakes are light and always delicious. She also delivers to San Jose, San Ramon, Palo Alto!! read more

Laurel made our wedding cake and cupcakes over a year ago. It was beautiful and yummy at the same time. She even made chocolate-covered strawberries as a treat for my husband and I. Before I contacted her to do our wedding cake and cupcakes, I had been a fan since a friend of ours has been getting cakes from her for every occasion. I didn't have to look anywhere else since I knew how amazing her work has been. read more

I was looking for a custom cake for my friend's baby shower. I did not realize that such cakes need 2-3 weeks advance notice, and was struggling to find a baker who would bake a cake for us with 4 days notice. I am so grateful I found Laurel! She was very prompt in getting back to me, and was very clear in her communication. She sent me her twitter page so that I can pick a design. Over a quick call, she gave me some flavor recommendations. The next day, she sent me an email summarizing the order - design, flavor, price and pick up time. The cake itself was BEAUTIFUL! It was better than what I had seen in the picture. I was a bit nervous about driving the cake from the pick up location to the venue. But they did a really great job of setting it up in my car. The cake made it to venue perfectly fine. The cake was delicious! It had the right amount of pineapple flavoring. Everyone loved it. I want to thank Laurel for helping make my friend's baby shower special. I would highly recommend her and her cakes. read more
