I imagine with all experiences involving students of a trade it can be hit or miss. However I can only judge review according to my personal experience there, as well as my experience with another salon school. I am a man and I have been to the Ogle School on many occasions to get a man's cut. The student who regularly does my hair cuts has consistently exceeded my expectations by providing the best cut for my hair type that I have ever received. This young lady has expressed an earnest interest in her craft and will consult her teachers when questions are necessary. The questions are usually addressed clearly and add to the students experience (as far as I can tell since I'm not a student). Questions asked during the cut lead to honing of technique and therefore a better end product. For the sake of comparison, it serves to cite other experiences I've had at a another salon school at an NCTC campus (not to criticize the school as a whole, since I'm a happy graduate). At that school the haircuts I received were acceptable, but not exemplary by any means. The students seemed to help each other, which is positive, but I seldom recall seeing teachers at all. I can say that the hair cuts resembled the generic Pro Cuts type haircuts I've had far too many of. My experiences at the Ogle School have been far the opposite. While the appointments tend to be drawn out, and the students admittedly a little green, my experiences have been extremely positive overall. I have received good service, and watched truly interested people during their learning process. I am sure those that give as much as my stylist will take away exponential growth during their education at the Ogle School. read more

If i could give this school no stars i would, i was a student who attended there and found it to be the WORST school you could ever go to! Teachers dont teach you shit! you sit there most of the day wondering what to do next, teachers were never around. The director was a former high school principle if that tells you anything! She dont know how to run a school let alone a beauty school come on! We also talked to the director and told her how shitty this school is and of course like always they did nothing.. but I EXPECTED THAT!!!Teachers are lazy and never do shit! I learned one haircut and that was it in my time of being there for 4months... i had to ask for help numorous times and never recieved it! The girls that go to school there are only worried bout doin their hair and not yours... their to scared to take people back to their station because they have no idea what to do!!! If you decided to go to school there be ready for nothing but DRAMA AND NO LEARNING! It was a waiste of my time and money for nothing.. school is pathetic and i advise everybody not to go there for any treatment or haircut because nobody and i MEAN NOBODY knows anything thanks to PHASE 1 and PHASE 2 TEACHERS! Thank you ogle for absolutely NOTHING BUT Loans to pay back! It cost atleast $18,000 to go there and its so not worth your time... i would rather work at mcdonalds then go to that joke of a school!!! O ya your kit you get when you start that you pay for by the end of your 10months, half your kit will be stolen! All my brushes and combs got stolen at the school. So Good luck if you go because something will go wrong!!!! read more

One thing you have to understand about a hair school is that it is in fact a school. These men and women are freshly starting this trade, so of course they are going to be a little nervous. Who ever tried something and was perfect at it right from the start? (Not to mention this school just opened in October 2011 so they are still working out the kinks) Truth is, anywhere you go there will be ups and downs. I have gotten very close to several of the Ogle students, and I have seen them grow in their abilities and as young professional adults. They have all come so far and the reason is simple, they are there every day working hard at perfecting their trade. You have to really want it and put in the effort to achieve the most of something, and I see that everyday in these students. Give Ogle a try and I think you will enjoy it. I really enjoy going there and have learned to be the best I can be. The teachers are patient and push us to think for ourselves rather than do it all for us. I have felt that they always keep our best interest in mind. I know the education I have gained at Ogle is a great one, and I see big things in my future. read more

I got a cut from a phase 4 student and everything went well. Everyone was very friendly and kind. The student definitely knew what she was doing with the cut, and had enough experience in her field to make suggestions and still be flexible to my needs. Great haircut! And the blow-dry was phenomenal as well. I felt very classy at the end, and I was willing to try out the same products that the stylist recommended. Aside from a small mix-up at the front desk from the salon manager--not the students' fault--over the pricing of my service, everything went very well and I would definitely go back to that student. read more

Cleopatra did a good job on my hair, the products that she ended up using for me lasted even a few days after. I am glad I got to be her model to practice on considering she had never worked on my hair type before, I feel like she did a really good job and I'm really looking forward to seeing how she progresses as a stylist. And a thank you to their teacher, Ms. Brooke too, without her I am sure Cleo would have over thought everything and would have doubted herself even more, her encouragement is what each person in the cosmology career need! read more

Ana is a student stylist with the skill and care of someone far more experienced. She gave me a beautiful set of highlights that looked both professional and natural. What stood out most was how much attention she gave to the details--making sure the color suited my skin tone, explaining the process, and checking in often to make sure I was happy. She's professional, kind, and clearly passionate about her craft. I have always had a great experience here. Just be prepared to take time...then not only will your stylist or beautician take the time to find out exactly what you want, but the Ogle cutting techniques are the best. Instructors are not afraid to also share their personal expertise and knowledge with students. I have had some amazing student colorists and stylists, most recently Damaris and now Jessica is wonderful with color..and best of all loves what she is doing and the transformation it makes. I want to say that they are all so kind and attentive. Ms. Ashlynn did an excellent job on my hair. I did a few silver , grey and a few blonde highlights with a dark brown mixed in . the dimensions were on spot!!! I would say go to Ogle and cut your cut, color or whatever you need. I have had many facials and chemical peels and I have been very pleased with the Esthetics department. The students are sweet and the Teacher is very knowledgeable and sweet. I give this school I high rating; however, the Office Manager Mrs. Star seems a bit unprofessional. She tried to tell me it was my fault when I was charged the wrong amount, and I over heard her talking bad about a student. I will continue to get services their cause the price is great, but I try to avoid her. read more

I have been coming to Denton Ogle for 1.5 years now. The price is incredibly affordable compared to some of the local salons. Yes, it does take longer but that is because the students take their time! You won't walk out with uneven hair or stray pieces. Even if the student might miss something then the instructor always catches it. I will continue coming here for every haircut as I always leave satisfied compared when I would spent $60 in a salon and only like it 50% of the time. read more

I go here to get trims, and they always do their best. The teachers are there if the student is newer and lacks the confidence that comes with experiance. I've had some great cuts, and some that are not quite on point. It's a beauty school... they need practice... you're the practice. If you cry over cutting an inch off your hair, maybe you're not the best candidate for this place. I go here frequently for facials and waxing, and the esthetics department here is phenomenal. They are very knowledgeable about what they are doing and it was a very relaxing experience. The instructor is always monitoring them and teaching, and ensuring that everything is done properly. A great experience. Go here and get a facial! You won't regret it. read more
