Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. I understand that students are there to learn, and I fully expect a learning environment. However, learning also requires humility and a willingness to listen--especially when working on someone's natural hair. The student who worked on my hair, Tatum, seemed more interested in projecting confidence than listening to the person whose hair she was servicing. I have 4C natural hair and have specific goals for retaining length and minimizing breakage. I politely explained what works for my hair throughout the process, but my input was met with resistance rather than curiosity. At one point, she even asked if I had gone to cosmetology school because I was giving guidance about my own hair. After applying a demi-color, my hair was not thoroughly conditioned, which is an important step for my hair texture. During the blow-drying process, my hair was repeatedly brushed while dry, causing unnecessary breakage that could have been minimized by properly detangling and conditioning it at the shampoo bowl first. Instead of focusing on technique, there seemed to be more attention given to casual conversation. What disappointed me most was the lack of instruction from the supervising staff. A cosmetology school should be a place where students are actively taught how to work with all hair textures, including tightly coiled 4C hair. Supervisors should be demonstrating, correcting techniques, and encouraging students to listen to clients who know their own hair. My recommendation to Ogle School is to strengthen the training of both students and supervisors when it comes to textured hair. Every client deserves to feel heard, and every future cosmetologist should graduate with the skills and humility to care for all hair types--not just the ones they are most familiar with. I truly hope this feedback is taken constructively because there is an opportunity to improve the learning experience for both students and clients. read more

What a disaster. I went in to the Preston location for an all over color. I used a box color on my hair & it is much darker than I wanted. I thought a beauty school would be teaching its students how to lighten hair to a lighter color I was told by Miss mark the teacher, who I thought would be a professional hairdresser, that they would only be able to darken it & she actually said they couldn't tell me what color the final color would be. I was shocked that they couldn't lighten it. Mrs mark was rude & had to tell Ashley to start at the beginning & ask me questions about my previous box color & Ashley acted like she's never done that before. Very shocked that they are such a bad school & let students that don't know the first steps color hair. I left quickly before they ruined my hair. Please avoid this "school". read more

This was my first visit to the Ogle School- North Dallas location. I called the day before to find out if they take walk ins or if you can make an appointment. I was told that they do take walk ins but it appears those are taken when there is an opening. So, you really want to have an appointment to keep your waiting time to a minimum. My regular stylist is out due to surgery and some medical issues so that is why I was looking for an alternative. I still felt like I was cheating on her, even though she is unavailable to see me at this time. I had a 9:00 appointment (when they open) the following day and I had to wait about 10 minutes before Caroline, my stylist, came to get me. I found Caroline to be very pleasant and eager to please. She was very concerned about my comfort and was so easy to talk to. Other Yelp reviews that complain about the length of time, need to remember that this is a school and you are receiving services from a student that is learning how to provide the services you are receiving. The price reflects this. Where else can you receive a shampoo, haircut and blow dry for $12.00? I thought that Caroline did an amazing job and took great care to give me an excellent haircut. My hair is very thin and fine, so it usually takes awhile to get all those layers cut. I found the instructors to be very kind and helpful and provide instruction without being condescending to the student. One thing that tickled me was all of the mannequin heads that the students work on to learn from. They are a rubber head with various hair types that slip into a tripod holder. They even wear a cape. Every time I turned my head there was another one! I asked the girls next to me if they named them and one said "Manny Quinn"! :-) I was there probably about two hours, but the time went by so fast. She took great care to put into action what she just learned in class that week. She was very open to learning from the instructors that shared a technique to try. How awesome to be able to help someone gain skills and get a great haircut in the process!?! She will no doubt become a little faster with more practice and experience. We all start out doing things a little slower in the beginning and become more efficient with experience. Please show some patience and grace with the student stylists. I also bought some product, if you bought 3 items you received 20% off their price. So the total charge for my haircut and 3 products came to $40 plus tax and tip to the stylist. OMG! Listen, don't play with these students. They are AMAZING! Thoughtful, skillful, and great communicators. I was there from 9 am to 2pm. I was styled by Julia, with a huge chunk of help from Liz as well. They were practically a two-woman-team and absolutely BEAUTIFIED my hair!!!! I asked for a halo style peekaboo Neapolitan color on my VIRGIN hair that I've been growing 10 years. Look at this!!!! And my hair is extremely soft still!!!! After my horrible experience today, I do not recommend this school. The frustrated instructor, Ms. Mark or Marque is a horrible and her actions today proved that there's a lack of care for their client's hair. I actually feel bad for the students that this is the example they have as an instructor. I do not have the time to detail my experience today but I will be back to add more details to this review. I had a 6:00 appointment. I got checked in and sat down, being told they'd be right with me. I waited patiently until about 6:40, when I asked when they'd be with me. They said that they had less students than expected today, and that it'd be about 15 more minutes, so I sat back down. When no one had helped by 7:15, I left. Being a little late is one thing, but being an hour and 15 minutes or more late is ridiculous, especially because I was given no warning. Do better or at least communicate better. read more

The Ogle students almost always do an amazing job! They are learning, but they strive for perfection. LaShae did my hair today and I didn't realize until halfway through the service that it was her first relaxer retouch. The excitement from both instructors and peers when someone nails a style is contagious. One of the Worst Ogle Campuses in Texas -- Completely Unprofessional and Unsafe This campus was an absolute nightmare. I eventually transferred to a different Ogle location, and the difference was massive -- which just proves how bad this place really is. There were so many problems, I don't even know where to start. First off, there were no makeup days, which made it impossible to stay on track if you had to miss for any legitimate reason. The staff was completely unprepared -- I saw instructors asking other instructors what to do because they didn't even know the curriculum themselves. It was clear some of them had no business teaching. The entire environment was toxic and unprofessional. Students constantly smelled like weed, and it wasn't a secret -- girls were literally bringing drugs to school and using the salon scale to measure weed in the bathroom. There were fights, bullying, and even a student who attempted to harm herself in the restroom -- and still, the school took no meaningful action to improve safety or mental health support. Teachers made fun of students, picked favorites, and even tried to start drama with younger students. Grown women were threatening to fight teens. And if you tried to report anything? Good luck. The school director was never available and clearly didn't care. Complaints went nowhere, and nothing was done to fix the chaos. This school felt more like a hostile high school than a place to build a career. If you're serious about cosmetology and want a safe, supportive environment -- go anywhere else. read more

Horrible experience they wasted my time. Put bleach on my hair and then would not highlight it because they used a 20 developer which btw will not lift previous color. Then the director was involved and I told her that they said if it did not lift they could not do the highlights. They basically wasted my time and I explained to the director that I told them before they put the 20 on there it was not going to lift. It was like a round and round circle of communication that I felt I was not heard. Then the director said she did not hear me say that. I felt like I was in a no win situation and she said as I left I called her a liar. I never said that she twisted my words. I suppose if they want to feel they are right they can. Used to be a student, had to drop out because of misinformation & bad handling on their end, this school is absolutely awful. There are outliers like Miss Hicks, Miss Dominique, Miss Ashley, & Miss Wendy, but aside from those few people, it's a mess. Miss Dion and Miss Desire are two of the most disrespectful & awful women, no decency or respect for anyone they deem not their favorites. Been called plenty of names by staff, been made to feel embarrassed, & learned absolutely nothing! It's a shame to pay $18k for a school to do something you love, & end up having to leave and hating the craft. It's ridiculous & sad. Hope other students never have to feel this way. read more

You're asking for a comment, so here it is. Friday , I had an appointment for a root touch-up. When I arrived, I checked in with the lady and the student who were supposed to do my hair. I gave them the same number I've used before--this is my third time at the ogle school using that number. But for some reason, the lady named Kisha said we don't have that number . She left to check, and it took almost 45 minutes. When she came back, she said, "Oh no, we found it." Then the service began, and I immediately noticed something was off. After about 15-20 minutes, the color started to show, and I realized it was the wrong shade. They used the wrong color, and instead of taking responsibility, they tried to blame me. Because of their mistake, my strip highlight is now gone. They went way too far with the color. The root job was supposed to just follow my natural regrowth, but they didn't do that. I asked if I still had to pay, and they said yes--without even offering a proper apology. I'm very unhappy with the service. I'm giving them zero stars. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.
