Dishes are Japanese-inspired and are healthy and tasty. They are the reason why I love Omurice, with eggs and rice, how can you go wrong? But they took it a notch higher and made every omurice dish they have extra special and extra delicious. I also love the curry spaghetti soup. Tastes like a bowl of hot ramen but made with curry and love. Hokkaido French Toast is also a good try for snacking with coffee. My nephew loves Chicken Teriyaki on rice - rice with spicy curry then topped with chicken in teriyaki sauce and cheese. Just the curry rice with cheese is already good enough. The only downside to this branch is the service. It always has a great start with greetings, and slowly declines when you start ordering till you want something like water. Most of the time, the ladies just crowd together and started chatting, then it is very difficult to get their attention. Oftentimes, my mom would just want to go to the counter to serve ourselves.

I came here for a meeting and was planning to visit Kissako, but it was full so this was the next best option, my friends say. I just had a heavy lunch when I came here, but felt the need to order anyway. I tried their Matcha Green Tea, Takoyaki, Spam Maki, Crispy Chicken Skin, and Spicy Salmon Sashimi. I found their dishes okay but not up to my standards of a Japanese food. The Crispy Chicken is indeed crispy and drizzled with honey. The Spam Maki was bland and mushy. The spicy salmon sashimi was not really spicy, and it has a little feeling of not being fresh. I think it was the first time that I did not finish a salmon sashimi dish, and I was even sharing it with someone. The takoyaki was deep-fried and crispy, but it was mushy as well. I didn't know what I was eating but just the sense of crunchiness. The best thing was probably the Matcha Iced Tea, but then again, the sugar was not dissolved properly. Furthermore, the staffs don't even smile, except for one name Me-Ann. They are difficult to call and have the approach that they want you to leave.

This time though, my aunt made me try Takashi's Japanese Cuisine, a little Japanese restaurant located in Kapitolyo. It's practically a hole in the wall place right next to a grocery store. (Who would've thought right?). Despite its not so glamorous location, what really makes up for it is the delicious Japanese food. We ordered their Kani Salad, which, at P80, is such a steal and is good for sharing between three people. The restaurant doesn't scrimp on the ingredients - there's kani slices, lots of sweet mangoes, corn, and Japanese mayo. Another dish I tried and really liked was their Prawn Tempura - it was very crispy and the shrimp was very succulent. The pork tonkotsu was pretty large and good for sharing, although I did not like this one very much as I pledge my tonkotsu cravings elsewhere. Their salmon sashimi on the other hand, was really good! The fish was fresh and served on a bed of vegetables and makes for a really attractive dish. Another favorite is their Sizzling Beef Teppanyaki, the beef was very soft and flavorful and goes best with a serving of steaming hot gohan. Even if you're not from Pasig, the drive to Kapitolyo will definitely be worth it. The ambiance is similar to your typical hole in the wall Japanese restaurant, so don't expect much on this deparmtent, but the food will definitely be worth the drive and the time.

So I decided to try it in the SM North branch. PROS: Everything is aesthetically cute and pleasing, from their name, to their flyers, their menu, interiors, and food presentation. Their bright wooden interiors make it feel light and kawaii, while the contrast of their black utensils, menu, and even their logo makes it all the more prettier; Their rice bowl, bento, and curry selections are within the 250 peso mark, making them quite affordable. Their ramen is 350 pesos and below, making it cheaper than what we were expecting. CONS: It's not because it's cheaper, but their taste is nothing special. It's quite forgettable, even. I can't recall how it went aside from the fact that it just made us not hungry anymore. TL;DR: Moshi Koshi Noodle Boss is a typical Japanese restaurant that made the most of the ramen craze by being cute.

As part of a food tour, my friend and I decided to have starters namely the kalabasa soup, the crab and mango roll, and the Blacksoup salad. Because the knew we were going to share the cup of soup, they even split the order into 2 cups so we didn't have to share from 1 - something we really appreciated. The kalabasa soup has clear broth, soft kalabasa, strips of basil, and some peanuts, which went well with the kalabasa. The crab and mango roll also had cucumber and lettuce along with it, wrapped in vermicelli wrapper, and had a dipping sauce of slightly sweet fish sauce. This reminded us of Vietnamese fresh spring rolls. We had the salad last and was very pleased with the contrasting yet complementing tastes and textures of the pomelo, nuts, adobo flakes, and the muscovado dressing. Indeed a lovely start to our food tour.

I ordered the Porkchop with herbed salsa and rice and, my God, it was sooo good! I couldn't even converse with my friend because I was too fixated on my dinner. Other than the food, the place felt so chill, with the dim lighting, the live acoustic music, and the beer. It's a nice venue to hang out and drink with friends. Would definitely come back for more.

While we followed the walkway, there were koi fish to the right. When we entered the restaurant, the very first thing we noticed was that the restaurant had fans. It gets a bit warm without an air conditioner in the Philippines. I also noticed numerous foreigners or tourists at this restaurant. My cousin said for us to take in the experience. The second floor of this restaurant would be a nice place to reserve for a party during the winter time. We ordered appetizers. We definitely ordered the Alagao, which is an appetizer that they are known for. The Vanishing Laksa was fun to watch as the server poured the sauce on a mountain of noodles. I enjoyed the pomelo in the Pomelo and Catfish Salad. The Laing in the Pani Puri was my favorite appetizer. I loved the presentation of the appetizers. The Suman Itim was fresh and I enjoyed the texture of the suman. All of us enjoyed the experience. It was a Philippine Asian food fusion fest. The customer service, food experience, and view were 5 stars. The only reason I gave this place 4 stars is because we thought it was a bit too warm, and there were not enough fans to keep all of us comfortable. In fact, my cousin had to turn on her portable fan to keep cool. Also, my cousin and I really didn't taste any bagoong in the Pork Binagoongan.

Both dishes were tasty. I just wish that the mango dish came with more than one tiny slice. We had to order extra slices! What would be good is a mango chocolate Suman offering! Though, that may be too sweet for some people! May be one of each would be good enough to share with a couple people. We shared 2 dishes among 4 people and did not finish the entire thing. Their drinks were not my favorite. They were a bit too sweet for my taste. The calamansi drink I had was neon green, which I didn't really like. In my mind I anticipated something more fresh since calamansi is abundant here in the Philippines. My family members ordered the Thai iced tea, but that also looked green like a matcha latte! I was confused! So were they! This place also has a buffet, which looked like Filipino food. We didn't have lunch here. Just dessert! It's a cute place in the middle of nowhere. I never would have discovered this place if my cousin didn't take me here. They also make and sell their own homemade pottery! I love that! This place has that kind of artsy boho vibe to it. There are colorful textiles hanging from the ceiling. It looked like a mix of textiles from the Philippines, India, Thailand, and Bali! There's also a large mural outside when you walk in.

It's not exactly a Filipino thing, it's a Filipino-server culture, which is really annoying. We were quite hungry so we went for it, before consulting with Zomato, the local food review site in Manila. We were greeted in Japanese and seated at the back end of the restaurant. I thought this might be a problem calling for service but they were actually pretty attentive. It's not that big a restaurant and it was only 70% full. Hubs got some miso ramen and I ordered a basic Katsudon from the Donburi bowl options. Hubs also ordered Okonomiyaki. I polished my Katsudon because I was really hungry, BUT it was what it was. Pretty basic. Hubs did not like his ramen at all and rated it a 2/5 alone. The okonomiyaki came out and it was the restaurants saving grace! It had just the right amount of flavors, albeit served with an extremely over-easy egg on too. We did get free wifi access upon request, and it was faster than LTE access inside the mall. Overall service was pretty efficient and requesting your bill is pretty quick. The price points are NOT cheap, and for those 3 dishes + a glass of calamansi juice, it came out to ₽1200 incl. service charge. The restaurant deserves a 2.5 stars overall, but I rated them up for their okonomiyaki and prompt service. Hope they can still improve their food offerings - and train their staff!
