Terrible company: avoid. Their customer service is brutal. Unreturned calls; hang ups; discussions that yielded no progress. When they installed a new panel on my garage door, it was the wrong color. They failed to properly diagnose the issue with my alley gate motor. But they still charged me for repairs they did not complete. Note that most of the positive reviews for OGD are on the older side. Early February, 2026 our garage door was damaged. Overhead Garage Door (OGD) was called as we have used them for years for maintenance (we have 2 garages). They sent out a technician quickly, he arrived on 2/4/26 and told us that the door was damaged beyond repair and would have to be replaced. He then told us that this door was a fairly old style now (our home is 11 years old) and could only be replaced in white (our doors are brown) plus it would take 4 weeks at least to get the new door. I was appalled and asked him several times if he was sure we could not get this door in brown, he was even asked this by my husband who came home from work before this man left. Despite my disappointment, I paid him the deposit and we waited the 4 weeks to get the door. When the door arrived and was installed 3/3/26, the man who installed it asked me, when he was finishing up, why did I get a white door? I was very confused and said, because I was told I had no choice. He said that was not true, this door was available in multiple colors and I could easily have ordered the door in brown, it wouldn't even have been at another price and he showed me the different colors I could have ordered it on his phone. I was very angry but he promised me that he would speak to his manager as I had definitely been given wrong information by his company and they would definitely work it out with me. I never received a call from OGD and I called the company, repeatedly, over the next week because the painting of the door was scheduled for a week later. Having no response from OGD, we went ahead and had the door painted on 3/11/26 by a well respected company and a very skilled and experienced painter with superior paint (that does not melt except at temperatures well above 110 degrees). We allowed the door to dry completely and figured that we would just take the loss of the money spent to paint the door and move on. The problem was that ever since (and actually pretty much since the installation as my husband did note that the door seemed jerky but didn't say anything to me...I don't drive because I am epileptic so I would not have noticed this), we started having problems with the door, the door making banging, grinding noises when opening, even getting stuck once so that we had to manually close and reopen the door. I started reaching out to OGD many many times telling them of the problems that we were having and all they did about it was (besides ignoring my calls and eventually emails most of the time) is that they sent a technician out to our home who claimed that the problem with the door was the paint. He claimed the paint was causing the door to stick and even though temperatures in Flower Mound have not topped even 90 degrees, each day the paint would "melt" and stick again causing the banging sound and jerking of the door. I kept trying to tell OGD who has stuck to this ridiculous theory that this cannot be correct as it makes no sense. Paint dries! If not, no garage door could ever be painted. In fact, no door could ever be painted. I finally did two things, got the painter to come back out and review his work...he said that the problem was definitely not the paint but that the door was incorrectly installed and and was "shifting" side to side by at least 1/2"!. When the door shifted, it would be off track, so it would "bang" as it tried to get back in the track. We then hired another garage door company to check the door and this person told us OGD had told us several lies. First of all, he said that our garage door is a common door and would have been available in 1 day at his company generally but because it was an insulated door, it would have taken maybe another day or two to get it insulated at his company. He said, the only reason it should ever have taken a month to get our door was if we had ordered it in a specific color (not even the brown, he said that is a common color), something we would definitely have waited for, if we had been told that we had that choice! He then said that paint is absolutely not the problem with our door, he laughed at that, saying what a foolish excuse that was. He physically pushed the door to one side and the door opened and closed easily without the horrible noises it had been making. He said it was a poor installation (causing the shifting). I have tried to call OGD again and left messages and again, no callback. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! FIND SOMEONE ELSE TO INSTALL YOUR GARAGE DOOR. Obviously they do not tell you the truth! I have been put through so much trauma by this company! I called them in a time of need and innocently believed this man who lied about everything when all I wanted was to just get what I paid for...a functioning garage door. read more

At first, the estimator seemed to know what he was doing. The estimated amount was 25% higher than others received. Several days later I received a quote 20% lower. Several days later I received another quote another 300 dollars lower. That got my attention. I reviewed their estimate for me to sign. However there were 3 items which seemed to have potential for them to charge me higher if I accepted their estimate. I spoke with them, and was told they did not apply. I asked them to send that to me in an email. The last obstacle was wording saying the cost would be higher if they found additional problems during the installation. I asked them in a text to agree that additional work that increased the price would not be done without my written approval. He responded in text that he had inspected the house, and that no additional work was necessary. I signed the estimate, and prepared to pay the deposit and schedule. A technician acted dishonestly towards me, charging $50 to provide a quote and attempting to charge an additional $50 to fix a non-existent problem. I live in Kerrville, TX. I have always used a local family-owned company called Schilling Overhead when I needed garage door services. I Googled them and Kerrville OGD was the first listing. I mistakenly assumed this was Schilling and that they probably just changed their logo. I made an appointment for the following afternoon to have my door lifter replaced -- it was 24 years old and becoming unreliable. The next day, a tech called me and asked if he could come in the morning, instead of the afternoon. I explained this was inconvenient, as I was in my doctor's office and had scheduled a brunch with a friend afterwards. He said he had come up from San Antonio (an hour away) and could we possibly meet earlier. My friend and I had a much hurried brunch and I met the tech, who was already at my house, at 10:30AM. He gave me two estimates, roughly $900 or $1100, to replace my LiftMaster 1/2 horsepower lifter (chain type). When I asked what the difference was between the two, he said "the light bulb." One had and LED and the other, a "regular socket." I was quite shocked at how high the price was, as I had priced the lifters at Home Depot and they ran about $160. The labor seemed expensive when he said it would take a little more than an hour to accomplish. But, I stupidly agreed. I paid by credit card, after signing three times to some extremely fine printed agreement on the tech's phone. I was emailed the receipt later that day by the home office. It was when I read the receipt that I noticed I was charged 2.5% for using a credit card. I know this is a fairly common practice with small businesses, but I was never told this fee would apply when the tech took my card. I got online and used Schilling Overhead's internal email to protest this charge. Next morning I received a call from Schilling and was told they had not performed the work; that it must have been done by someone else. My mistake. Since I had them on the phone, I asked what they would have charged for the lift replacement. The rep asked me if the lift had a chain or a belt. I said the old one had a chain and that I assumed this one did, too. But I popped into the garage and noticed that the new lift had a belt (inferior to a chain, so there was more than a light bulb difference between the two quotes). The Schilling estimate was somewhere in the $600s for a chain lift. So I feel rooked by OGD. It's only been a couple days, but so far the new lift is operating well. I would NOT recommend OGD, as they seem dishonest and don't consider the use of a credit card as the cost of doing business, and don't reveal the 2.5% charge for using a card. I felt a bit bullied by the tech wanting to change the appointment time and felt he was dishonest about the difference between the two estimates he gave. We called because when we tried to open the Garage door it bent the top panel and broke the glass as well as removed a bracket on the inside garage door. I don't know if it was the Installer or the way the company does business and repairs things, but attached you will find pictures of this company tried to charge my wife $540 by having her sign a document on his phone, which no copy was provided for what she thought was to completely fix the door, glass and replace the panel which would make sense for a price of $540. The pictures reflect that the door was left exactly the way it was when they arrived and the only thing repaired was 2 small brackets and tighten the spring. Yes $540 for 2 brackets and tighten the Spring for about 1/2 work, if that. When I came out and saw that he did nothing to repair the panel, I asked why and he said that my wife told him and signed for only the 2 brackets. (People be aware before signing) I then told them they would not get paid until he fixed the problem he got very irate and demanding as well as yelled and called the Police because I did not want to pay him for this crap of a job. The police came and although he found that nothing was done he said unfortunately I had to pay because of what my wife signed and that if we didn't pay it would be a class C misdemeanor, I told the police that I understood and that as soon as I paid I will call the credit card company and stop payment at which time I finally was able to talk to a supervisor over the repair mans yelling and he told the rep that since I would put a stop and take them t court that we didn't have to pay and had the rep not only remove those parts but also parts he did not add. Regardless I let them and off he went. I contacted "Fix this Garage Door" the Owner himself came and laughed at what was done and not only replaced the Panel, the Glass, and added the missing parts as well as calibrated the Door for "GET THIS" Exactly the same price OGD charged me for 2 brackets. I cannot say enough bad things about my experience with this company. While they came out pronto, they did nothing but jerk me around after depositing a check for almost $1,800 for a single garage door. I'll explain. The technician came out, measured the door and told me they could replace it for $1900. I was shocked but the bid from a competitor was the same and OGD stated they could knock lower the price if I paid in full now. I agreed and wrote the check on August 18. He told me someone from the install team would call me within one week with a delivery/install estimate. He did warn me it could take up to 12 weeks to be installed. I signed the receipt on his iPhone and gave him the check. 3 weeks later I'd heard nothing so I called. The lady who answered told me she would check with the person who does the ordering. She came back and told me the door was expected in early October. Not optimal but certainly within the window quoted. She said the order lady would call me to confirm the next day. But, she didn't. The next call went to a gentleman who told me he surely understood my frustration but defended the lack of communication by saying she probably didn't have any news, please be patient. The first week of October I called and was told someone would get back to me. Last Friday I called (October 8) and was told the new delivery date was for December! I telephoned this morning to cancel and ask for a refund. A lady contacted me and stated that the "deposit" was non-refundable. I explained that the December timeline was not within our agreement and she told me she could send me a copy of what I signed (on the tiny iPhone) if I needed it, but there would be no refund. Now I realize they have been tooling me around for 3 months. They are dishonest, tricked me into handing over almost $1800, can't deliver on the contract and won't refund me. Called for broken spring Sat July 3rd, Service scheduled for 8 AM Monday July 6th. Received texts that tech was running late that morning, and then that he was enroute - no issue with that. Tech looked at broken spring, stated $300 to replace the broken spring, $600 to replace both with 2" springs. House is 20 Yers old, so I decided to replace both. technician noted during replacement act the broken spring had been previously replace and was 1.5" and the other was original and was 2". Replacement took about 40 minutes. Technician also lubricated the rollers and joints on the door. Door worked fine after. Only issue I had was in my post-repair cost investigation - I found that the Spring Cost (retail) is like $80 for 2" set of 2, and the "Typical" cost to replace 2 springs (including material cost) is about $350. Jacob from OGD came out to look at a malfunctioning gate. He told my girlfriend that the whole assembly needed to be replaced, the parts cost would be $1,999 plus $299 labor. The he "discounted" the price a few hundred dollars. She called me to ask my opinion... I asked more questions and decided it was a scam. An entire gate arm and controller package seems to be around $2,000 in a Google search. I asked him what the part number was that needed replacement and he hemmed and hawed and said he didn't know. This company would not make a service call without a credit card given in advance. To top it off, Jacob slapped an OGD sticker on the controller box, without asking permission to do so... pretty arrogant. Overhead Door Company here in Corsicana and the DFW area has the WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER! Waited 6 hours for measure and quote, Mis measured the door no communication as to why it's not here on day promised, remade the door(supposedly) installer 1 1/2 hours after he said he'd be here in an hour. Arrives with the door finally, he checks to make sure all parts are with the order. Takes off the old door checks the order label again to make sure it's the right size which SURPRIZE! ITS NOT!
