We dropped it off on a Thursday and it was ready Tuesday after 2pm. Definitely will return next time we need more embroidered items. Offside Sports is my new go-to for soccer gear in West LA. I came across them after looking for a local shop that would allow me to root for my World Cup favorite in style. Only a few hours after the Semi-Finals had wrapped up, they already had all of their Spain/Netherlands merch in full display as soon as you walked in. Not that it grabbed my attention much; I was memorized by their enormous selection of soccer related items. I actually joined Yelp to share my experience dealing with Offside Sports. First off: Don't go there. Go a couple blocks up Barrington to Wilshire and make a left. Niky's Sports is the best soccer shop on the Westside. Make no mistake about it. Now back to Offside. A couple months back, I purchased a World Cup jersey there and wanted to get it customized with a name & #. Offside said it would take a couple days to get the name and # in. Two weeks later, I finally get a call saying my name and #'s are in. So I bring my jersey back to get lettered with a picture of exactly how I want the name & # placed on the jersey. Five minutes later, the jersey comes back with the name in the wrong spot. I tell the guy that this looks nothing like the picture I just handed him. He runs to the computer. I assume he's going to hopefully find a replacement jersey for me. He spends the next ten minutes attempting to find pictures online of the jersey lettered the way Offside did it. He can't find one because they did it incorrectly! When all is said and done; he offers me a $5 refund for ruining the jersey. I walk out steaming mad. Then I give Niky's Sports a call. They have the jersey, the letters, the numbers in stock! They let me layout the lettering and numbers exactly how I want them on the jersey before it was pressed. And they even gave me a free soccer ball and canvas bag for my jersey. Since that experience, I've purchased three more jerseys from Niky's. Great customer service, 100% cleaner than Offsides and way better prices on everything. Check out Niky's once and you won't ever go to Offsides again. Go to Niky's website; they've got a bunch of locations. The Wilshire one is the only one on the Westside though. read more

I was just at Offside Sports shopping for new soccer cleats. I had a specific idea of two I wanted to try. To begin with the positive, I will say that the girls who were working when I went in were very helpful. Now, the reason for the one star: they tried to rip me off. The final pair of cleats I was trying on were the Adidas Predator LZ TRX FG. There are several different versions of this shoe that scale in price. They said to me, "Oh, these are the $200 pair, but we're selling them for $110 because they don't have a box. We have to discount them." Sounded a little weird to me, but I just went with it. When they brought out the shoes I tried them on. Then, I looked at the markings and realized they were the $70 (Absolado) version of the shoe. I looked around and realized they don't even carry the $200 (Lethal Zones) version, so it couldn't have been a mistake of grabbing the wrong box by accident. I don't blame the workers helping me because I get the feeling they were just reciting something they were told. If they did know what they were doing, then that's just another reason not to go there. Trying to make an extra $40 by lying to customers is unforgivable. Sooner or later, someone will notice; and I was just lucky that I had looked up the shoe before I went. Hopefully this will help keep someone else from getting taken advantage of. When I called them and asked if they had a certain product i needed, they said yes and to come over. 20 miles and 1 hour in a delightful LA traffic later, they gave me a completely different product and made me seem like i was speaking a different language. I had my future last name embroidered on the back of a sweatshirt to wear for getting ready on my wedding day (brides-to-be know what I'm talking about) and it was both inexpensive and looked amazing! I wanted to go to the back and hug the lady who did the work. It looked so great!! I also decided to get names on the back of REI jackets to give to the dads as father of the bride/groom presents and those also looked amazing, and the dads loved it. After picking up my sash and seeing the finished product, I'm going to have to downgrade Offside Sports. I hate doing this because they were still quite nice. However, the fact is that they did not fulfill their end of the bargain. We were very specific about certain details on our sashes and distinctly remembered discussing them with the employees. For example, we did not want the pockets to be sewn shut and wanted a significant gap between different text lines. What we got was sewn-closed pockets and no gaps between lines of text. They apologized for their mistake, but we still did not get what we paid for. I was not quite pleased with how my sash looked, but there was no way to fix the embroidery mistake without buying an entirely new sash ($50). Although they were willing to re-do the embroidery for free, buying a new sash would have still been an additional cost that I was not willing to pay. read more

I've been here four times over the last two weeks to get gear and a few things embroidered. Embroidery was really well done and in an adequate time frame. They're unfortunately moving up the street, so things were being boxed, but they have a good mix of BPL and international soccer jerseys and gear. They also have cleats and training gear. I took in a recently purchased medical white coat to offside sports to embroider my name on. I was a bit skeptical at first because not only was the price cheaper here than other places, but also I was under the impression that they were more specialized towards sports uniforms and jerseys. After speaking to the person working there he assured me that it would come out looking great and that they've done many of these before. Today I picked up my white coat and I couldn't be more than happy with the turn out! Very professional looking and well done, especially for the price that I paid. wow.. I just called this shop asking if i can get my embroidery (only 2 items) completed a day earlier (today) than the day they had told me, which would be tomorrow. They then asked what date was written on my receipt and I told them it says tomorrow. Then they said, okay your embroidery will be done tomorrow, and that's all they said. No kidding, I already know what the due date says on the receipt, that's why I'm calling your shop in the first place to see if it can be expedited, which shouldn't be difficult to do at all since it's only two items. I went to Offside for the first time earlier this week to pick up some much needed soccer supplies. I haven't played soccer in 2.5 years, and haven't bought any equipment since, um, 1999?! Anyway, the guys there were extremely helpful. One guy helped me pick out shin guards (they have actually changed in the past 10 years, who knew!?), an inexpensive, yet quality ball, some shorts and a couple pairs of socks. He even insisted that I try the shin guards on to be sure of fitment. I gave them 5 stars because I had no reason to not be 100% satisfied. Thanks! read more

I love soccer, I have a soccer blog, I watch religiously (MCFC), and it's nice to be able to go into a store and touch actual cleats and jerseys compared to the woes of online shopping that most US soccer fans are forced to deal with. The flipside of this shop is that is it also geared towards all those kids who play AYSO but grow up to hate the sport and shun it (wtf)? Go here and get a Beckham jersey now you bastards. Nice place. I wandered in here while having my car fixed. I am a fan of small local shops. This is clearly not a chain or big box store. It has that old fashioned kind of feel. The store was a bit messsy and poorly lit, but who really cares. The good was that I was greeted warmly by two clerks when I walked in. They have a great selection of basketballs here. Offsides sports is one of the few places in Los Angeles where you can walk in and get custom High School Letterman Jackets and patches made. A few years back, I took my nephew to purchase his letterman jacket and also have the custom back patch made. Pricing was slightly expensive compared to internet companies that make jackets, however, I prefer to deal with people in person(especially with custom stuff). Overall, I thought it was a good place to start with. I liked the final jacket however, one small spot on the custom patch was wrong..uggggh! I didn't take my nephew to pick up the jacket, otherwise, I would have asked for a huge discount or a redo of the patch. The turnaround was a month or so. If you do, get custom work done, make sure u specify exactly what u want. I will be going back very soon and believe me, if I have to submit a set of specifications...I will! LOL. read more

I needed to have my daughter's two jackets embroidered, so I decided to go on yelp to search for a place. Offside Sports and another place all the way on Melrose came up. I decided to go to the closest one, which was this place. Michelle helped me and she was very kind and helpful regarding placement of the name that needed to be embroidered. I had an absolutely terrible experience with this place. I attempted THREE TIMES to try and get my jacket embroidered here. The first attempt I walked in and they said that "the lady who does the embroidery isn't here. Can you wait 30 minutes?" Ok fair enough, but I don't have time to wait. So, I make an appointment to come and see them. I come a second time and the place is completely closed. I call them and they say "Sorry, but the lady who does the embroidery left early." But wait a minute...I had an appointment! They didn't care. Completely and utterly unprofessional. But, in my foolishness, I get another appointment to see them the next day. This time I have smartened up a little because I know that these unprofessional, disrespectful people have no consideration towards others, so I call them up 30minutes prior to the appointment just to make sure they aren't going to mess me around for a 3rd time. "We can't make it." Lucky I called them or else that would've been more time wasted and more money wasted on gas. In a way, I feel lucky I didn't give them my jacket...no doubt their unprofessionalism extends to their work too. DISRESPECTFUL, UNPROFESSIONAL, DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME AND EFFORT WITH THIS COMPANY. She spent a good deal of time helping me match a font that my son's backpack and jacket needed and then made a print out so I could double check the size. She then made sure it was printed in time for my son's game the next day.
