I'll say the customer service at the shop was amazing; REALLY nice girls. We asked if we could take…read moreour boards there. She said yes but the benefit of using them was they carried the boards down and up a steep hill. We were there on Saturday April 25th. So we rented two paddle boards and she warned us about the winds. It was like $155. She was nice so we went for it. We get to the site and are waiting around. They haven't even taken the boards off the truck, but we were fine waiting. Layla finally made it up the HILL and had 2 boards taken off the truck and laid on the ground. I asked if any of the MANY men who were there and carrying kayaks down, was going to carry them down. She said no, you carry them. And that hill was STEEP. I figured meh, okay. I was annoyed since we were told they'd be ready for us at the bottom. Layla carried my paddle. Once I saw the hill, I was even more annoyed but I already paid $155 plus $30 entry to the lake. When we got to the bottom, she mentioned when we got back I had to carry it back up. I said I'm not doing that. lol. She held my leash so I could climb on my board. Not an easy task where we were. The paddle boarding was rough but we knew that, the girls at the office warned us. 5 miles later we returned. I STRUGGLED getting off the board and trying to haul it up by myself, my body was shaking and I was visibly exhausted. A young man who worked for this place, WATCHED me struggle. Asked how it was, I said it sucked. He mentioned me carrying the board up that steep hill, while I was shaking from exhaustion and out of breath, and I said "I'm not doing that" and he replied with "why is it heavy?" I did carry my life jacket and paddle...but after that comment I REALLY didn't want to. Layla gave me a water at the top and said to take a breath, I was breathing very heavy. I'd say don't rent paddle boards. You will have to carry them up and down the hill and will get no assistance getting off the board either. But they did carry the kayaks and help those people who also paid like we did, in and out of the kayaks. So maybe rent those and not the paddle boards.

I cannot recommend this enough…read more This was the most breathtaking kayak through the canyons; and the hike was spectacular. A friend and I booked this event for her 40th birthday and it was the absolute highlight of our trip! We were thinking of renting kayaks and doing it ourselves but are both so grateful that we didn't because our tour guide, Ryan, was fantastic-- extremely knowledgeable, helpful, witty, and patient with us, as we were both beginners. He made it really fun! We learned that Britney Spears shot her video "I'm not a girl, not yet a woman" there, too! This was so worth it and will definitely be coming back and booking with Ryan!

We stopped by Jacob Lake Inn on the way to Kanab after hearing about their famous cookies. This was…read moreon a Sunday in mid April and it wasn't crowded at all, with perhaps only another 5 parties or so in the store. Since our visit was during the off season, they unfortunately only had four types of cookies to choose from - apparently during the summer they have 16 different varieties! While we didn't have that amazing selection, the employee did tell us that they cookies in the tray were less than an hour from the oven! We ended up trying one of each (4 for $8.46): Chocolate Chip Cookie - This cookie has a golden brown ring around the edge and the bottom. It has a delicate crunch along the more well baked portions, but the interior remains soft and gooey. Especially the semisweet chocolate chips, which at only an hour after removal from heat, are still melty. The center of the cookie tastes under baked like raw flour with a somewhat granular and sandy texture. Chocolate Parfait - This is a tall cookie that doesn't seem to spread. It looks more like a small scone or biscuit to be honest. It's quite wan in color, so there's no particular baked crust. Instead, the entire thing is soft and tender, but it's not under baked like the chocolate chip cookie since it all tastes baked through. It's absolutely stuffed with large pieces of Belgian milk chocolate, and like the other cookie, the chocolate is still melted and gooey. Oatmeal Raisin - This cookie has the hardest bake with a darker golden brown bottom creating a great crunch. It's otherwise filled with oats and studded with plenty of sweet raisins. Snickerdoodle - This cookie is surprisingly yellow in color. It has the same chewy and tender texture throughout and tastes like a sugar cookie with cinnamon. I do have to say that all the cookies were super sweet. So sweet I had to drink an entire bottle of water afterwards. I drank more water after the cookies than a 5 miles hike the previous day. Way too sweet for my tastes, but I'm sure most people will be okay with that! Bathrooms - Two larger ones with multiple stalls

For breakfast the wait was a little shorter, but none of us thought it was very good. The eggs tasted off, the potato scramble was very heavy on the potato and didn't look to have any egg in it. The bread was touted as homemade but one of us got burnt bread and it was a tiny piece that sort of broke apart as you tried to eat it. One of us asked for another slice and we were charged another $3-4. We tried two of the cookies and thought they were okay. They are the only place around so it there or bring your own.

Jacob (I think that was his name??) was our server, he was super nice and knowledgeable about the menu and area. Another gal that worked there was very nice and chatty, it was fun talking to locals about the place/area. My husband and I ordered the mushroom and swiss burger with fries to split. They brought it out on two plates, already split-I loved that! The fries were hot and delish. The burger was as one of the best I have had, cooked to perfection and super juicy. It's a fun stop, shopping, great food and are known for their giant cookies so try to work that in as well.

I was disappointed there were not more flavor choices, however the four that were available were delicious. Our favorite was the Chocolate Parfait. It looked liked a scoop of ice cream which intrigued me even more. We went right outside and ate two of the cookies right away. We broke the Chocolate Parfait in half and the chocolate was ooey gooey perfection. My husband loved it so much, we went back inside and bought the last one. We were so full after just two cookies that we took the others with us. We saved the Chocolate Parfait for the next day and unfortunately it wasn't the same as eating it right at the time of purchase. The other three cookies I think would taste just as good a day or less later, but don't wait to eat the Chocolate Parfait cookie. The magic in this cookie is immediate consumption.
