I placed an order through Uber eats. Office Depot sent 5x7 plastic holders instead of 8x10. I called and they said I needed to go to the store to do the exchange. I did but the store wouldn't help me since it was purchased though uber even though I showed the receipt and policy. I was told to call into corporate to get a bar code, so I did but was on the phone for over 10 minutes. I then gave the girl the bar code and it didn't work. The girl at the register said her manager could do an even exchange but the manager came over and refused and said I should have brought from then directly? Then Josh the manger got super rude with me and told me I was holding up his line and I needed to move. He outright refused to help me and thought my situation was funny? I asked Josh for his last name and he told me he doesn't give it to "crazy" people. Apparently asking for an even exchange and showing the receipt was crazy. It even states online that you can exchange when ordering from office max and uber eats. I can't believe a manager of a store would act like that or think it was funny to not help someone even though it was his stores mistake. I ended up just leaving because no adult should talk to another adult that way. read more

I travel around the country and use print services weekly. Normally I go to staples and have no issues. I went to Office Max in Bolingbrook and asked for help with printing. Service member handed me a piece of paper and stated we do not do this at store level you have to do printing online.I was a little taken back at the speed she handed me the paper and dismissed me .But that was okay I have done multiple projects online. What I was trying to do was print a handbook that was one page not book form. I did not see the option and went to the store to ask for advice and direction. I was still planning on doing online .I just needed a question answered. Printing a 100 copies with 30 pages would be expensive if it was incorrect this is what I was trying to avoid being wrong and having to pay twice for same project. I went back to the store to ask for help and the lady who I asked talked to me like I was an idiot .I left with no answer but good understanding why people probably will not use print service after interactions with staff asking about print services. The sad part is Office Max is 2 min from my property. Staples is 6 miles away from my property .I drove to staples and within minutes I was taken care of in a kind and professional manner. I have spent this week over 400.00 and would have spent somewhere around a 1000.00 in the next two weeks .That will not happen I will go the extra 6 miles for service to Staples . Officemax. There's not much to say about Officemax. I can't really surprise you in this review. THEY HAVE PENS! I KNOW, RIGHT?!? CRAZY! So it wasn't their selection or products that blew me away. But I was sitting in my car, thinking back at all the times I've been to this OfficeMax, and because I'm related to many office supply junkies, it's been more times than I can count on my fingers and toes. I've always been asked if I need help while wandering around the store, which in and of itself is amazing, but that's seems standard to most shoppers. Nine times out of ten, I pull the instinctive 'just browsing' or 'I'm fine' but a few times I have genuinely needed assistance because sometimes I don't even know what I need. Here's where the magic happens. I explain what I'm trying to do, they let me ramble for a good three minutes or so, they direct me to where I need to go. Fantastic. Staff on the floor are good for more than directions, though. My last trip to Officemax I got pen reviews. Yes, they person working gave me suggestions on which pens to buy. These pens are smoother and will make your writing look better, but these pens are more comfortable to use, and will work better if you'll be writing for extended periods of time. Who knew (Everyone but me) pens were so complicated? The associate at Officemax did. Also, if I do voice my helplessness traversing the vast ocean of office supplies, and someone swoops in to set me on my way, I know I'm not sailing alone. If I run into someone who has directed me to some nook and cranny of the store to find a brand new cash register (I've never bought a cash register, but have always wanted to) they ask me if I'm finding everything ok. Now, we've gathered our booty, it's time to leave this fine establishment. Time to check out. The cashier's of Officemax have always been some of the friendliest I've dealt with. I was waiting in between lines like the dastardly noncommittal rogue I am, twiddling my moustache, waiting for someone to finish up their check out, when hark! the right register opened! However in that time, a floor employee and a woman swooped back in, and the cashier explained to me 'I'm so sorry, sir. I was actually in the middle of helping this woman, but we needed to go make sure we grabbed the right toner. I'm going to finishing ringing her up really fast, and I'll be right with you." Well the OTHER register opened and I checked out my stuff, and the we chatted about the weather, the sweet pens I was buying, and I was complimented on my glorious (read: unkempt) beard. Next up on the corporate checklist "Are you a subscriber to our corporate mailing list? Would you like to set up an account? Did you know you could save 16¢ a year? Would you like to hear me explain in great length about our consumer loyalty program?" I get none of that here. It's "Hey, do you have an Officemax card?" I say nope and that's it. A couple of time I've gotten jokes like "Your loss" or have been told "You know it could save you some money?" but I've never felt pressured. The situation has always seemed "I have tools to save you money, would you like me to use them" Consistency and quality. Having been in a service position, I can tell you always is hard. 100% is very hard. When it comes to consistency of food, I always say Chipotle takes the cake. Of the many many times I've gotten food from Chipolte, they've only messed up once, slightly. But that's still a 99% positive rating. Officemax's business model isn't unique. Macy's has employee's that ask me if I need help finding something. Lots of places have friendly cashiers. But how many times have you been in Macy's and you haven't been asked if you need assistance, or needed assistance and it's taken a while for someone to help you. Officemax has on the other hand achieved something that I truly respect. They've achieved always. Every single time have I been asked if I need help finding something. Every single time I've felt like I was talking to people who honestly cared about helping me have the best office supply shopping experience I could possibly have. A lot of stores in a lot of industries would be a lot better if they were a little more like Officemax. read more

I was a bit nervous yesterday as I had a TON of stuff to print and I knew it was going to take hours, and I needed it same-day. I usually go to Tinley Park but I have recently moved closer to Bolingbrook and Tinley Park was out of the white gold paper i needed. Everyone was nice and helpful. Daniel was a huge help! I have never been more impressed by customer service, specifically Ray Spears, than I have at OfficeMax in Bolingbrook. Went to this location to purchase something and saw their sign that they repaired Cracked screens on iPhones. Their price was reasonable so left my phone for repair. Ray determined there were more issues with my phone and offered solutions that were far beyond any expectations ever imagined! Customer service is truly a lost art but Ray Spears really takes pride in his job! Although his title is Client Engagement Manager, he encompasses what it takes to make a customer happy. This used to be one of my favorite back to school places to shop supplies for all my 4 kids but all it took was one really bad coupon experience and have not gone back since. For those wondering it was just one coupon but being talked to by the manager like you are an idiot it all it takes to loose business. Target is more than happy to take my $$. read more

Bad service! No one cares here. Girl at front counter just leaning on the counter, no customers barely and the one guy who I asked to help, said "I have no clue" when asked why none of the lights turned on. Nothing worked ( probably a switch not on) and he basically did t want to apply any further effort. read more

Manager Lucy - if you want customer to come back at store then you definitely need to learn about customer service and people management. I and my dad both went to buy some office furniture at this store on Saturday late afternoon. We were welcome very nicely and our questions were answered properly by associates working in the store. The time we ask about their online price match and discount, their manager was off on revert. She did price match but discount was only applied if you order online. I have seen at some stores they do provide discount if it available at their websites. But she refused to do that and i understand that. So i did order online standing inside the store and then provided her order confirmation number. She said i have to wait until they get confirm order thru internal systems. I waited 15-20 minutes and she was busy in stocking and arranging inventory without bothering checking the order. I had to approach her twice and ask about my order and she said she didn't received any. I my self work in retail industry and pretty much sure system send two way email - one to store and another one to customer. Sometimes, systems does take time during high traffic but not this long. We had issue during 1st time online ordering processing so we need to call their help line number and get that resolved. Telephone rep confirmed me that your order is confirmed and same email has been sent to store. Again, i asked Manager - Lucy to check and she said will let you know once she received and again got busy with her stuff. I know it sound so regular but trust me the body language and her response was totally unpleasant and unwelcoming. After completing order picking process and everything, my dad ( just had hear surgery) requested manager - Lucy after explaining about his medical situation that to send one person for help in loading heavy furniture in our car and she refused by saying - "We do not have any one for help at this time, you need to take care of this by yourself".... !! Are you kidding me??? Being very bad in customer service, now you being disrespectful to client. One suggestion guys - if you buying heavy lifting stuff from this location - make sure you bring extra hands with you !!
