I went in again today, and Erin fixed my hair (free of charge) and it looks absolutely amazing. The roots are blended perfectly, and my root touch up looks so perfect and it is blended seamlessly. She also gave me a free blow out, which she absolutely did not need to, but she did and my hair just looks so great! I am more than happy with it. I also did the conditioning treatment, which revitalized my dead hair. Overall, I would highly recommend Salon J and especially Erin. I have always loved her haircuts, and I'm now happy that I can confidently endorse her hair dyeing and root touch ups as well. I used to go to New York to get my hair done, and my only regret is that I didn't go to Erin earlier. I'll miss her and amazing hair cutting/dyeing!

As a student, I found myself in a conundrum when I wanted to donate my hair to a charity that can make it into wigs for low-income cancer patients who cannot afford the high cost of a wig. The tricky thing is, most haircuts here for hair as long as mine costs $80+. I called around a few hair salons to see if they could offer some sort of affordable pricing or discount for me to donate the hair, and was shocked and deeply touched when Pio of Italy said they would do it for FREE. Kathy cut my hair with the utmost sincerity and care, spending over an hour cutting each layer and communicating with me to ease my anxiety of parting with my long hair. Along the way, we talked about how she had come across owning the salon when the former owner, Pio, sold it to her after she had worked at the salon for over 15 years. The price of the salon? $1. In that moment, it was clear to me that Pio had made the right decision for somebody who was clearly passionate, dedicated to serving others, and sincere about caring for their clients and for the broader community. At the end of the haircut, I asked Kathy if I could at the very least tip her for her time, since she was not charging me for donating the hair. Three times, she insisted that there was no charge. So obviously I saw a women of color what look like maybe she had hair similar to mine and said to myself, I should try it out. I also just so happen to like that she provides other services like makeup and eyebrow waxing as well. I called and Yvonne picked up. She is just lovely. I came in on my Saturday appointment and was sat down to feel out a client card. When I was done Georgina sat right next to me and went over my hair concerns and what I would like done. I did a wash, treatment, roller, trim and style for $85. My hair is basically near the bottom of my back. My hair was poofy and she dry cut it and it came out even. Now that is skill!!! When it came time for the hair dryer, I was offered coffee, tea, cookies and magazines. I felt that all the staff were attentive the whole time. Great service and great atmosphere. When all was done my hair was so soft. It's now going on day 4 and it feels so soft, smooth, full of bounce and so easy to manage.
