The place was super busy so be prepared to wait for a while at lunch time. As the sign says, "it's good food, not fast food." It took 50 minutes to place my order and receive my food. During this time waiting I did become enticed by the hot lunch that had catfish and fried chicken. Visually their food on the hot lunch line appeared miles ahead of what's served at the Jett's Food Mart. The inside of the restaurant was pretty clean and well maintained given the storied history of the building. I walked away with a cheeseburger and fries with a vegetable plate containing broccoli rice, cabbages and okra and tomato. The burger patty was less seasoned than I expected but it was a good quality homestyle burger. They serve all toppings on the burger except ketchup. Nothing to complain about. The fries were also a great complement. There is also plenty of salt, pepper and other condiments that you can use to your liking. The vegetable plate was absolutely fantastic and flavorful. Cabbages were full of tender meat and the broccoli rice has visible onions, plenty of cheese and was very delicious. I have a feeling that this is the best hot lunch line in Zachary. I will be back.

This is a popular and the only Popeyes in Zachary. The line at any point in the day can get very…read morelong. After a certain point in the evening, they shut off inside ordering unless you have a mobile order (some nights they'll let you slide and order and then lock the door when you leave lol) Wait times have a tendency to be long and when this point that I just mentioned in the night hits, the drive thru is absolutely brutal. The employees during the nighttime move as slow as turtles and run out of different menu items quickly. I truly believe they slow the drive thru line down on purpose just to punish people that happen to want chicken during this time, don't use the Popeyes app, and are prevented from ordering inside by the employees. The food is normally very consistent with what you expect a good Popeyes cuisine experience to be. I've ordered drive thru and inside multiple times...I have not seen a worker use gloves yet...if I have seen it I don't remember it so that should indicate how frequently they have them on. I understand washing your hands and using that as a safeguard, but then proceeding to touch the cards of customers, coupons, chicken, boxes, jalapeño container, register, counter, shelf...it gets very unsanitary very quickly. I've witnessed someone come out of an elongated bathroom break(manager is screaming "where is this person at?!")during their rush hour when the place was packed, open the bathroom door, exit with their phone in their hand, and then proceed to touch things that go directly to customers. That's great if there's a sign in the bathroom that says employees must wash your hands before returning back to work, but how long do your hands stay clean if you're not wearing gloves while you work and serve customers? The inside is clean enough to eat in if you would like but I've always taken to-go. Some employees play around entirely too much, some employees harshly talk to others in front of customers (not as often), some employees talk to customers like they are a real burden, and some employees really don't understand how to ensure that the customer is receiving everything they've ordered. There have been at least 10 times where I've had to return or place my name on an IOU list with the manager due to an item being missing. Yes I understand customers should check their bags. The food alone has this place at a 3, but the customer service/awareness + their handling of large crowds often makes this a complicated ordeal to undergo for chicken. It's truly a "hit or miss depending on who's working what shift are they happy before they come into work is Popeyes hiring 15 year olds who's cooking the chicken my goodness don't come out of the bathroom with no gloves on and immediately hand me my drink cup because this manager just told you to"...type of thing.
