This means that every screen has recliner seats and little tables, for your drinks and food, that swings round to sit in front of you. The seats are super comfy, with the button on the inside of the arm to recline the seat. They also have an ISENSE screen, which is a ceiling to floor, wall to wall screen for 4K projection including Dolby Atmos sound. The food is also so much better. They have better options from potato lattices, hot dogs and I swear the the popcorn tastes better. They even sell alcohol now. The only thing is it is pricey but the experience is better. They also have a Limitless Card at £17.99 per month. I'm still an Unlimited Card member at Cineworld so I'm torn. Do I stay or do I change over? A wee decision I will make at a later date. If you haven't experienced the Luxe, I would definitely give it a go soon, you won't be disappointed. I have to admit though the seats are a bit too comfy that I did dose off for a wee bit! Hehe! Oops!

However, they must have cut back on expenditure in recent times as the cinema interior, from kiosk to the actual halls need a lick of paint. There is also no longer a box office (been covered up with posters) and tickets are purchased in paper receipt format at the food kiosk or from machines. For me, I genuinely enjoyed going up to the box office, checking out the times and ordering my seats etc., as well as getting a proper ticket. Would that be so difficult to re-instate? Years ago, there also used to be screens placed above the food area with the latest trailers. These have long since gone but would make such a difference to the pre-show hype and excitement. The food is as you'd expect, over priced but at least they do cheese nachos properly. Proper warm cheese fondant drizzled over your nachos with jalapenos. Guacamole and salsa on offer too. The cinema halls have some chairs taped up (never to be repaired again?) and the hall we were in yesterday had a large hole in the wall. Cineworld, Showcase and Vue are miles better in the upkeep and presentation of their premises. Film choice is solely aimed at the mainstream, which is fine but it wouldn't hurt to throw in the odd left field choice. East Kilbride is a large town with many arts-minded people who have to travel into Glasgow to get their film of indie-ness. The plaza part of the town centre (where the Odeon sits) is undergoing an overhaul to compete with the likes of Silverburn. The Odeon will have to move with the times eventually or stick out like a sore thumb.

Staff were friendly enough and, whilst it made for a nice evening, like I said, it all feels a bit stuck in time. I just don't think I'd travel out here again given that the impressive Cineworld and iconic GFT reside in the city centre surrounded by an abundance of fantastic places to eat and drink. The Showcase surroundings pale in comparison. S'alright.

It was refreshing to get served right away without waiting in a long queue for tickets and the staff were friendly and efficient - refreshment area was well staffed and no long queues either. The decor is pretty tired but I actually really liked the retro vibe! There were even drinks fountains and dodgy geometric patterned carpets. Great selection of hot drinks, snacks and everything you would expect from a well stocked cinema. The seats in the screens themselves aren't as plush and comfortable as a more modern cinema, and the screen was a bit smaller that I expected but the viewing quality and sound was excellent. An overall pleasant, efficient and convenient experience!

Easy to get to by train, direct from Glasgow Central or express bus, from Buchanan Bus Station. It's just off the M8. The ticket prices aren't too friendly, especially at the weekend, but it's a decent enough cinema. They do 3d movies and decent food, which is overpriced as usual. Last time I was there some guy came in with a crazy video camera that flashed green to look around in the dark to see if anyone was recording the movie. It looked like a speedcamera and it was so creepy it completely took me out of the experience of watching the film, it was surreal. I was not impressed.

As with most cinemas these days, tickets are pretty expensive (£8.45 on the Saturday night we visited). We'd purchased our tickets beforehand, so didn't need to queue for our tickets on the night, but the ticket queue was pretty long and seemed to move slow due to the folks shelling out for huge buckets of popcorn and snacks. I clocked some of the prices (eh £3.35 for a big bag of Doritos and the same for chocolate!). I really don't know how these places get away with charging what they do. I was mildly tempted to have some Ben & Jerry's icecream but decided to stick with the snacks we'd smuggled in, and save myself a fiver! Whilst waiting outside our screening to enter the cinema, it was slightly off putting to hear the rumbling/ noises from other screens(one of which had the door open and was showing the end of the film we were about to see!) Our official showing time was 6.15 but we didn't get allowed into the screen till twenty past, which was slightly annoying. However, it did mean that they seemed to miss out the adverts at the beginning, which was good given we were in for a three hour movie (don't you wish they would give you a break in the middle :) ) I'm not sure if its the same for every movie but we had preassigned tickets and had opted for quite near the back in the middle. I think these days most cinemas are first come first served with seats, and personally I prefer this. The screen wasn't the biggest I've been in and think some of the Glasgow cinemas are probably better for this. That being said, this cinema is pretty handy for me, and is somewhere I'll visit (or be dragged to) depending on the movie!

I also don't get to Silverburn very often even though I live nearby because of two reasons - 1 the horrendous parking situation; and 2 all the people. So I really wanted to see The Martian as I loved the book so much, and this week is the last week they're showing it. We booked online and collected our tickets when we arrived although note that you can't scan an iPhone 6 Plus screen to collect them as the screen is too big. Ha. The cinema foyer is pretty small, just has a candy bar bit and a Starbucks and toilets but that's fine by me. The actual cinema we were in (6) was a wee one, with only about 10 rows of seats. It was great though as it was only about half full and everyone there was my kind of movie goer - silent and well behaved. There is loads of legroom and it was pretty damn comfy for a 2+ hour movie. It's about £9 each booking online which isn't too bad really. I'll definitely be back!

It's been…read morea good number of years since I last was at the Quay & I'm sad to say that time hasn't been kind to it. Approaching the Odeon you could see it was looking a bit worn on the outside, *queue dramatic music* just like looking in the mirror the ravages of time have creased its once youthful façade. Entering into the foyer it really looked quite shabby, yes there's a fairly colourful Costa Coffee outlet, but I think it just looked that way as the rest of the place looked like a bomb had gone off. There were posters stating they were in the process of refitting the space, but it just looked awful, not the kind of sight you would want customers to see. The ticket machines were secured to the wall by plywood, there were layers of dust on the only table available to non-Costa customers and the refreshment stand looked like it'd been put together from spare parts from the 90's. What was also fairly bewildering is that there's no ticket counter, so effectively the concessions staff had to shuffle between shoveling popcorn to checking tickets (there were only two in the place aside from the bored looking Costa staff). That said, the cinema itself was pretty good, it seemed clean (it was dark when I went in), the screen was fairly large & I liked that it was quieter than Cineworld. The one thing I (& other Yelpers) don't get is why charge people extra money for premium seating when there was barely anyone in the entire cinema & there weren't enough staff to even check?? I really hope that the cinema can revive its fortunes as it's a shame that Cineworld has seemingly monopolised the cinema goers of central Glasgow (apart from the awesome GFT). One thing I'd add, is it too much to ask for an arcade game or two to while away those empty few minutes before you can go in? Seriously, Virtually Fighter or one of the Konami soccer arcades (from the 90's - yeah kids before Fifa!) would be a lot better than sitting in an empty foyer awkwardly pretending you're not the only customer in there...

That isn't to say it's completely empty, it's usually pretty busy but if you go during the week it's a lot better and you can avoid all the crowds. If you have a car, then it's so easy to get to and there's more than ample parking, you also have the choice of various differents chain restaurants such as Chiquitos and Frankie & Bennys before or after your film so it's a one stop trip and you avoid the hustle and bustle of the town centre. If you don't have a car then I'm not really sure how to get there unless you walk or get a taxi from the centre of town which is a bit of an annoyance. To be honest, unlike the other reviewers, I haven't noticed the tickets here being any more expensive than other cinemas in Glasgow and they also do Orange Wednesdays too! There's a huge selection of pick and mix, a Ben & Jerrys counter and they sell Ice Blasts, my favourite!

My dad is registered blind but thankfully more and more cinemas are catching up with the technology of AD (Audio Description). This is where a blind or VIP (Visually Impaired Person) can attain a special headset from the front desk, which allows the user to hear a description of what's happening within the film. My dad has always been a cinema goer since he was young and he didn't want to be held back by his impairment so finds the headset excellent and it let's him continue to enjoy the cinema going experience. I would normally head to Renfrew Street but I recently got the Cineworld app and it brings up your nearest cinemas. I had totally forgotten about this one and it's actually a little bit closer to me than the Renfrew Street one. I checked both to see what was in AD but unfortunately most were cartoons but luckily Parkhead had Taken 2 on. More our style! I do like a good action film. It was a Saturday afternoon when we headed in and of course it being years since the both of us have been to The Forge, we found the car park absolutely mobbed. I managed to get a car parking space outside Asda. It was an ok route to cut through and will bring you out at the escalators to head upstairs to the cinema. I can get in for free as a carer with my dad as he has a CEA card (Cinema Exhibitor's Assocation). It really is a lot of acronyms in the land of the visually impaired. Unfortunately for me in a way I have a Unlimited Card so I tend to use that since I'm paying for it every month. Anyway I do use my Unlimited Card when going with my friends and man. The cinema is good as it's not that busy, so not much queuing. They have done away with the external pay desk located outside in the mall. It's just full of film banners and point of sale. You now need to pay where you buy popcorn and drinks from. There's no machine to collect tickets, they probably find there's no need as it tends not to be that busy. First time we went I bought my dad's senior ticket there but when we were deciding to go again to see Skyfall, when looking through the app I realised you can use MyCineworld online and get 10% off the ticket. So this then brought the ticket to under a £5. Cha-Ching! Just book online, get a ref code and tell them at the desk. Done and dusted! I can't wait to go back, it's fantastic for my dad and makes it easier for me, as I used to try and describe to him. I hate people talking too much in the cinema and I was feeling a hypocrite. This helps more than probably most people know. Oh must mention the seats, there is a hugemongous amount of leg room, so an extra added bonus. The food and drinks are gigantic and it is mighty pricey but I did noticed they are offering 10% for Unlimited Card users. I still wouldn't buy much, maybe the odd sweetie but it's a rare occasion. We had a pleasant experience and the staff were really nice to me and my dad. We have already decided what to see next. Yay!

Since it has become part of the city's calendar, it has managed to become both part of the establishment and kick up the odd fuss: this year, pickets protested an exhibition and one stage show. The film programme starts things off: it is not the Festival's best programme, but is comprehensive and uncovers a few idiosyncratic classics. The theatre programme is stunning. In past years, it has taken in Tennessee Williams, Louise Welch and inhabits every venue from the Theatre Royal to the Arches. The breadth of events is stunning. My personal favourites have included Martin O'Connor's monologues- usually on the theme of masculinity- a singalong Hairspray and, for a more difficult choice, Memory Cells, whch looked at the relationship between abducted captive and her guard. The only problem is trying to catch everything: many shows overlap. By having a vague enough theme, it manages to have something for everyone: the Ma Broon Monologues reinvented a Scottish institution, while the edgier work covered the problems of gay parenting, red hair and even the true meaning of Christianity.
