This cozy restaurant located in the middle of the tourist zone is a gem. Of it's not Michelin rated it certainly should and will be. The service is impeccable, the ambiance cozy and intimate, the food spectacular, and the passion for food, wine, and service the heartbeat. After our order was taken we were told the sommelier would help us choose our wine based on our order. He was thorough in his questioning and nailed our wine selection.......bun the way he is the owner! We had the Wild Octopus Rice and the Iberian Pork Ribs, both were rich in flavor and delicious. Our compliments to Chef Phillipe for a very special local menu featuring seafood and pork that will not disappoint. Our meal was prepared by Chef Pablo and our choices were guided by Roberto. We highly recommend the local oysters and Iberico ham to start. I enjoyed the salted cod and my wife loved the Iberico ribs, with an amazing simple lettuce salad with leek garlic and local olive oil dressing. My ode to ODE...this was our second time here in two years. The experience in the restaurant is truly something special--every detail is perfectly executed for food, drinks, and service. Every server is professional and warm, and both times we had so much fun chatting with owner/chef Cristóvão, who is delightful and very, very involved in his beautiful business. On our first night in Porto we walked by this wonderful restaurant. We arrived as they had just opened around 7 PM. Despite that all tables were empty we were told that they were fully booked. As we turned around to leave the owner came out and said if we could vacate the table by 8:30 PM we could have one of the empty tables inside. We accepted and had a memorable meal. We shared a very nice platter of ham with homemade bread. Sourdough bread was really nice but the rye bread seemed underbaked and gooey. ( I'm from Denmark and know rye bread comes in different types but never underbaked). My husband had the pork chop with a rice chorizo sausage side dish. DELICIOUS! I had the bacalhau with a really nice chickpea side dish. ( I could've eaten that as my main dish ). Fish was cooked to absolute perfection. We shared the " burned " cheese cake for dessert and again. SO GOOD ! I highly recommend this restaurant. But don't go without reservation. We tried to come back the following night but this time we were turned away again despite all the empty tables. It seems to me a missed opportunity not to have an early seating for Northern Europeans/ Asian tourists who typically like to eat early as the other tables were not occupied before 8:30 PM when we were there. We made our reservation for 2 people a day before via internet and it worked very well. The chef opened the restaurant's door for us and received us very friendly. The team made a very friendly and motivated impression too. We went for the 6 cause menu for which we had do choose 3 causes. The other 3 were added by the chef. This was new to us, but we accepted it and the chefs choices turned out to be great! For the drinks we ordered the "wine pairing" option so we got different wines with each cause. The entire dinner was a "star restaurant experience". All ingredients (meat, fish, vegetables, bread) were of highest quality and perfectly prepared. The combinations of each cause showed the high level of creativity of this restaurant! The wine recommendations were fantastic. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very quiet although all tables were occupied. The service was very competent and relaxed. This created for us a very warm and entertaining atmosphere without any stiffness of classical star kitchens. The prices are -compared to standard restaurants of that area- high but absolutely justified by the high quality of food and service! We enjoyed every moment of our dinner and will come back for sure if there is another chance to visit Porto again. read more

Excellent food and polished service but the Yelp reviews were misleading -- It's not cheap, they don't take credit cards, and they offer a price fixed menu which is 80 euro per person including wine pairing. The food is excellent and they turn people away regularly to make sure they get people who really want to be there. The owner is a nice guy and gives preference to those who are dressed nicely and might even allow you to pay with credit card (we saw someone do this). This is very conditional though. read more

We are still dreaming about this food. We went there twice! The food was enormously delicious and the service very nice. As a couvert we tried olives, olive oil, sheep cheese from Azeitao and grey pork ham. As a Swiss we really appreciated the cheese and the ham a whole lot! The Goa lamb style curry was soooo delicious that we ate it twice. As a dessert, we ate the surprise and the chocolate cake first - i recommend better chocolate but it still was delicious. However, the best dessert we tried was the traditional pudding which was more like a cake. We would recommend it to everybody! read more

Ode is a lovely venue, tucked away just off the river in Praca Ribeira. The staff are knowledgeable and very attentive, the restaurant itself is decorated in an upscale, but lovely, low key manner - rock and timber walls, simple but chic and relaxed. We had to leave unexpectedly after ordering our meal ( the restaurant does two delicious prix fixe menus with optional wine pairing ) and the staff and management were caring and considerate as they accommodated us. We very much look forward to when we can return and highly recommend a visit whenever you're in Porto. read more

I read the reviews and booked this thinking it would be a 5 star experience- NO ! I was so dissapointed. the picures looked so inviting- let me tell you, this is a tourist trap ,and they get clients from the 5 star yelp. the food is "authentic."which means blood sausage made with bread- that was so mushy I almost gaged on the first bite. A authetic "stinky cheese" was served- smelled so bad couldn't get it close to my face. It is fixed menu so very little choices. Beware of the fresh cod- it s not fresh but salted and rehydrated- way too much sa;t to eat. I went to the little kitcen window and explained all my dishes were over salted- but nothing was done. The wine was over prices- set for tourist. WE sent everything back- and no one asked to replace the dishes or take them off the bill. I cannot tell you how wonderful this restaurant is! We went there based off of reviews and were so surprised when we were created by a smiling owner whose love of food and making people happy kicked off a great night. The menu changes often, but if the octopus or lamb curry is on the menu definitely get it. We ended with some of the most delicious desserts, definitely get the surprise, it is amazing! This was one of the best dining experiences of my life! However, if you didn't know it was there, you would miss it! The doors are locked and you can't even walk in without a reservation.
