I've been coming to the Orlando center for over a year on and off. When you get your initial…read morepromotion, be sure to schedule while you're in the chair. My first time coming the staff was very informative and make me feel safe. Considering donating? New Donor? Some types from a seasoned donor: -Give yourself a minimum of two hours to donate. An hour to donate and an hour to check in and wait. -Stay away from late appointments and lunch times if you can avoid. -Eat and hydrate before. -Upload any promotions prior to donating -You can request a phlebotomist (Miryan and Summer are awesome) -Bring a blanket or wear warm clothes. -Checkin is a small prick, donating is a bigger stick but not bad. You sit in a reclined chaise(lounger chair) while the machine removes the plasma and the blood is returned. -Sign up to donate and use my referral code : [https://info.biolifeplasma.com/new-plasma-donation-800-0422] or Coupon Code - 98374 I have rolling veins so I'm not an easy stick. My favorite phlebotomists are Miryan and Summer. They are professional, friendly, kind and very skilled. They are always very pleasant and ensure my comfort and safety. I love that and I'm thankful for them. If their management is reading this give them a raise and/promotion. I always see them hustling and going above and beyond. Recent Issue: Recently, I've seen a grumpy tech/manager, Sebastian walking around. Bad vibes. Today, I witnessed Sebastian announce prior to closing that they likely wouldn't be able to take donors. He sent two people home who've been waiting for nearly an hour. He seemed very motivated on sending people home, I watched the other techs pick up the pace. A customer complained stating that he'd driven over an hour. He said I can't control what corporate does and who they schedule. We have to go home and we have to be finished by a certain time. It's not our fault." SMH. And I JUST witnessed him nearly get into an altercation with a super friendly donor. I witnessed everything and there is something not right with this guy, Sebastian. Management should address and watch security footage. Please please PLEASE consider giving management/supervisory authority to individuals like Miryan, Summer and a lovely black lady with a beautiful Afro puff, I wish I knew her name. I appreciate they're professionalism, safe and swift service. I appreciate the new machines as they get you out quicker but you definitely feel it. I wish they would stock the center with hand soap and paper towels in the bathrooms. Also, masks would be great for clients and hand sanitizer at the questionnaire and vital station. Lastly, squishy balls that you can actually squeeze would be awesome Signed with love of donating, @ TheOriginalCharlestonian

Some of their employees aren't very experienced with all "vein" types. From the director down to management everyone could use some training. The male "manager" with long brown hair is a distasteful person with little to no patient or customer service skills, the head phlebotomist (light skinned balled guy with glasses) I believe he needs some training as well. I could name more employees but those 2 specifically were the guys I spoke to on my last visit who were very rude and disingenuous employees. Also they will damage your body, or veins to no accountability.

Biomat USA I've been…read moredonating plasma with Grifols for years, hitting up centers all over the country during my travels, and I can confidently say the Biomat USA in Altamonte, Florida, is hands down the best one yet! The phlebotomists here are exceptionally skilled and friendly--they handle everything with precision and a genuine smile, making the stick quick and painless every time. Unlike some other spots where you're herded through like cattle and left waiting forever, this team treats you like a valued human being with a life outside of donating. They respect your time, keep things efficient, and even chat about local spots or whatever's on your mind. The facility is spotless, well-maintained, and equipped with comfy chairs and free Wi-Fi to make the process fly by. If you've donated elsewhere and been disappointed, give this Altamonte location a try--you'll see the difference immediately. Highly recommend for both newbies and veterans like me!

My very first visit there, the phlebotomist whom everyone said was the best one on staff stuck me, and even she didn't do a good job. She missed my vein on my first arm - I asked her not to fish, and she didn't listen. She ended up sticking me on the other arm, and still missed twice before finally getting it. I ended up with bruises on both arms and couldn't come back for 2 weeks. I only went there for my 8 new donor donations, and never went back. HOWEVER, if you're going to donate at a Grifols location, I HIGHLY recommend the location on Discovery Drive near UCF. The entire staff over there are very professional, nice, and fast. There's about 4-5 phlebotomists I would highly recommend getting stuck by: 1. Juan 2. Yaddi 3. Milaycha 4. Ingrid 5. Sabrina (in that order)

I have recently become a certified Red Cross volunteer as Disaster Action Team in Central Florida…read more When one thinks about the Red Cross, usually mass disasters, such as hurricanes or earthquakes come to mind; however the Red Cross does FAR more than that for the community. The Red Cross responds to local disasters on a daily basis, such as house fires, which occur many times a day in Greater Central Florida. Teams respond with compassion, care, and assistance for those impacted by a disaster. Working with multiple agencies, the Red Cross makes sure that victims of disaster are set up with immediate care for temporary housing, food, counseling and so much more. This local chapter in Orlando has an amazing team in place, balancing logistics, client care, volunteers and also offers a plethora of courses to the community in a variety of fields, such as certification for CPR/First Aid and more. The road to becoming a certified volunteer is rigorous and there are many courses to complete, but so very worth the time invested. This local chapter is so well managed and truly worthy of a 5 star rating. If you find yourself in need of assistance, please reach out to the Red Cross. If you are looking for a great place to volunteer, the Red Cross will help you find a good 'fit' for what you are looking to do. Hands on disaster response was my choice, but there are a great many areas that are needed to support the operation in administration areas, hospitality areas and more. Please contact the Red Cross now if you wish to become a volunteer and you will be trained and ready when the need arises for activation of volunteers.

I've been to several OneBlood Centers to donate - and no, it's not just to jack up the Yelp…read morereviews; I do that based on availability and travel pattern. Since I could be going east one day and west the next, and most OneBlood centers are not open every day, I need to do what's most convenient to me. For the last couple of times, though, I've come to this Big Red Bus parked almost permanently outside the AMC theaters at Altamont. Not only did my travel take me this way (likely to continue), but there are several other factors that makes this my go-to. 1) It's easy to get an appointment * (not that it's hard to get one at the regular centers); 2) There's much shopping/walking opportunity at the Altamonte Mall; 3) There's covered parking here, almost guaranteed! 4) I've noticed that their incentive is usually nicer/richer. Let's face it, none of us give blood for 'money', but truth be known, while we didn't START out that way (there are zero incentives in HKG and Canada, where I gave probably 15 gallons over the years - or at least there used to be none), the system here has trained us well. Now I think in the back of my mind: as long as I'm going to be doing a good thing, why not get a Walmart gift card out of it? There was a nice $25 Carrabba gift card in addition to the usual swag around New Year's time, but alas, I missed it because I'd given on 12/30! I'm going to post this in EVERY OneBlood review I write from here on in (since they don't appear to have heard), but PLEASE, invest some programming time to make your iPad questionnaire more intelligent? I mean, c'mon man - why have the donor press two times (the answer and then 'Next') on EVERY screen, making the answering process twice as long? You say, because people might press the wrong answer? Well, you have already looked after that by having the 'BACK' button! Another example: why does a guy like me have to even see the screen with the 'pregnancy' question - you 'know' when handing me that iPad that I'm a guy, cuz I'm in your system! Travel questions, too, can be streamlined for repeated donors (taking into consideration past responses). Why is this important? Well, one of the reasons more people don't give blood is that they don't have time? Wouldn't you have more donors if you can claim "NEW STREAMLINED PROCESS SHORTENS TOTAL DONATION TIME BY 27%"? Everything went smoothly with my donation otherwise. This bus, though, is freezing cold at the back. When I mentioned it, she said, "You'll get used to it" - what a 'nice' customer-friendly response! The front part though, was a little on the warm side. One more little thing you can do for all donors - you have FOUR colors of elastic bandages there, and you're not busy: why not ask every one what color they'd prefer? It costs you NOTHING, and it goes some distance to let (some) donors know that they are appreciated, as well as give them a sense of control. Yeah I know - I'm a pain, but that doesn't mean my suggestions aren't valid. * Note that you can't get an appointment 'day of" for a blood mobile donation site.
