Best burger in Macon. (Sorry, Rookery fans!) I've tried every. single. burger on the regular menu, and they all deliver. Favorites are the Bleu Ridge (beef patty, Bleu cheese sauce, bacon, Bleu cheese crumbles) and the River Creature (seafood patty with grilled onions and pub sauce). Each burger is thoughtfully constructed with interesting ingredients and perfectly cooked. The fries are outstanding, and there are a dozen dipping sauces to choose from. Try the pub sauce and peppercorn gravy. A house-brewed beer (my pick is the High Cotton) tops off a perfect meal. The atmosphere is great for large parties and families with children. read more

Great place for beers and food! The staff are very friendly! For a limited time, try the cherry blossoms pilsner beer....so good, smooth, almost wine-like. There's also the Oxbow stout beer but no after taste. I'm usually not a fan of stout but I'd drink the Oxbow. Don't miss the Slush Storm too... another one of my favorites. As for their food, you can't go wrong with any of it! Their burgers and salads are amazing! Definitely try their truffle fries!! It's never frozen; they only use fresh potatoes!! Idk way I have never reviewed Ocmulgee I have been here at least 6 or 7 times now. Ocmulgee is so good. I have had their eat a peach, blaze of glory, Bentley burger, and river creature. It's hard for me to pick a favorite really they were all so good. The only one I didn't like was the river creature and that was just due to the strong seafood flavor. Their burgers are all cooked to order and always perfect and the freaking truffle fries make me so happy! They are amazing, do not skip out on the truffle fries. I have also sampled many of the beers on tap here and honestly it's where I started to discover what beers I liked and disliked. They are very courteous and let you try before you buy, which I appreciated since I'm not really into beer like that and didn't know what I would like. As many times as I have eaten here I never take a picture of my food before I dig in. Hopefully I remember to next time so I can show y'all the greatness your missing out on. read more

Stopped in here for the first time after a great afternoon at the start of the Cherry Blossom Festival. Loved the open layout of the place and the decor. It was great to see all the brewing tanks and equipment, as well as the downtown Macon map mural on the wall. The long "picnic" table seating style definitely lends itself to a nice community feel. These tables are great if you have a large party with you, but also make it easy to strike up a conversation with some people sitting near you, while at the same time not putting you uncomfortably close to a stranger. At the same time if you are looking just to have a quick bite to yourself, there is also plenty of bar type seating with which to enjoy your meal. Speaking of the food, it was fantastic! My wife and I tried the River Creature, the Smoky Appleation, the Summer Salad, and the truffle fries. Both burgers were perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious. The salad was very fresh and crisp, our only complaint was the dressing was a bit too sweet for our taste. After reading the reviews, we stopped in before a Disney on Ice show to try a burger. The atmosphere was industrial with bench seating. You order at the counter and are served. We ordered the Bentley Burger medium. It came out rare. We also ordered the cheese curds which were fantastic. After we flagged down a server and showed her the burger, she had it fixed for us. This restaurant had wonderful potential if it weren't for the "Hot Chicken Sandwich". There weren't any warnings, recommendations or suggestions to prepare you for the heat that this sandwich produced. It was uncomfortable and ruined my entire meal. I truly wish that there would have been a disclaimer for the intensity of heat; instead I spent over an hour vomiting in the bathroom. Unfortunately it was twice as worse coming up as it was going down. Never come to this restaurant, they are inconsiderate and rude for allowing a bystander to be deceived and poisoned by a chicken sandwich. The food was outstanding. My burger was great, and my wife loved her turkey burger as well. She also raved about their superfood salad. Well worth the upgrade charge. We also enjoyed their no-name soft drink selection. It's fun to try new things sometimes. It was a bit loud for our taste inside, but the weather was p,easing and we sat at one of their outside tables. We will definitely go back when in the area. read more

After canceling my wait at The Rookery and deciding to treat 5 guest here because of the hype of the best burger in Macon. I was truly amazed at the customer service. We all placed our order at 6:15 pm and took a seat. Our starters came out 5 minutes later. Thinking this was great. But after 20 minutes and the guest sitting beside us which ordered behind us was served their meal I asked where is our meal.? 2 of our guest were served their meal 15 min later. After 40 min I went back to the manager and he offered a refund for the rest of the meals. Ha! I'd like our meals. As it is now 7:05. Wow our meals arrive and one of the burgers is not cooked correctly. The manager said there was a issue with the printer and the cooks didn't get all of the orders and that was all he said. One of the best new additions to Macon, and in a great location. I visited on a Saturday afternoon and enjoyed one of their home brewed beers. I tried the Muscogee Curse, which was a great but simple IPA. It had a good balance of hops to citrus flavors. My friend ordered the burger with fries and it all looked so delicious (I admit I stole a few fries and can verify they were great). I love that places like this are popping up in downtown Macon as alternatives to the usual bars and clubs. I look forward to visiting again. read more

In town for training and wanted to try a brew pub. Had their cerveza beer which is great. For dinner had the clucker club grilled with the super food salad. First, the quality of the food was excellent, no cutting corners here. The chicken was juicy and flavorful. Got the chipotle mayo on the side which was very good. Loved the superfood salad and the dressing!. Also, everyone that works there is extremely friendly and helpful. If I lived close to this place, I would come often!. My first and only experience at this establishment wasn't the best. My server Jay was AMAZING! Absolutely fabulous! He tended to my every need , even things I didn't ask for. Probably one of the best servers I've had in years. Here is where it goes left I got in line to order my food at 6:40, I didn't receive my food until 8:10 and my cheese on my burger looked like it had been sitting for some time and my fries weren't even room temp..They were cold and soggy. I literally waited over a hr and paid 14$ for jus a burger. I wont be returning BUT someone should promote Jay. Hes the only reason this review isn't a 1star. read more

I was served the wrong order and when I sent it back, they brought the wrong order again on the same plate with cold fries and same burger with added toppings (still wrong). It was then I was told they were out of the toppings I ordered. Previous experiences were similar. Overcooked burger, wrong toppings, and unapologetic staff. Worst experience and bad customer service. My husband and I both ordered grilled chicken ceaser salads. I ate my salad and chicken while my husband was just eating his lettuce. My husband then realized he had been served raw chicken. Unfortunately, I did not check my chicken before I consumed it. The manager took the meal back and after waiting approximately 10-15 minutes we did not receive more chicken for my husbands meal. Further, during this same time, the couple beside us also sent back a salad with raw chicken. After the extended wait time, my husband went back to the front counter to ask for a refund. Of course, he was only given back $12.30 when the meal cost $12.50 plus tax. (Yes, a subpar salad will set you back about $14 including tax at this joint). Will not return. Ocmulgee is a neat downtown brewpub that has helped in revitalizing downtown Macon. Their food is great, but their craft beers are the main attraction. My choice is "Float Daze," an American Amber with 5.2% ABV. Ocmulgee describes Float Daze best as a "smooth caramel body, hopped to perfection leaving you dazed, confused and wanting more. For maximum enjoyment, drink while floating." Float Daze is lighter and not bitter with a hint of caramel and hoppy aftertaste. Definitely worth a stop by if in the area! read more

We were stopping in Macon to see the Cherry Blossoms and decided to stop here due to its high Yelp rating. As soon as we walked in, we new it was a winner. It was bright and inviting, the large stainless steel beer vats highly visible. We were welcomed at the counter to order by Nick, who could not have been nicer, explaining the burger choices and the craft beer selections. We ordered the burger with mushrooms, swiss, grilled onions and an aoli sauce. It was one of the best burgers we have had. The fries were delicious, thin and crispy. My wife and I both ordered a beer flight and enjoyed the whole experience. Nick came over to our table more than once just to see how we liked everything. Just because the name says Brewpub don't think the beer is the only thing they have. Salads are incredible but the Juliette burger is out of this world. Swap the sauce for pimento cheese. The pimento cheese and fried green tomato with bacon on a burger is out of this world. Either the fried green tomato or pimento cheese can stand alone as an appetizer.
