Took my daughter here to see the ophthalmologist (Dr. Robert Broderick, 76) for an annual comprehensive eye exam... Literally the worst 1.5 hour experience ever- from the receptionist, to the ophthalmic techs, medical assistant and even the doctor, none of them were friendly- nobody smiles, they did their job and that was it. Also, I specifically told the tech (Curtis Walker) the reason for my daughter's visit but he stated that he had to put in a "patient complaint" so he noted, she is in for evaluation of tired eyes and experiencing dryness & blurriness in her vision from extreme screen use, which is all false but it's fine. This was the fourth ophthalmologist she's ever seen...Definitely DO NOT recommend OCLI for children- we're not coming back next yr. read more

One star is to much! Unfortunately I got a severe Corneal Abrasion due to the gauze and patch being placed to tight after my "laser cataract surgery". The pain was excruciating. I paid over $3,000 for each eye and still do not have clear vision from the one with the Corneal Abrasion due to there mistake. I got no apology, no compensation and sadly still am suffering with poor vision in that eye. It is an eye surgery factory and you are only a number. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else, where you get more personalized care. Please do not make the mistake I made and go to OCLI or Island Eye Surgery in Westbury. These are your eyes we are talking about...Look for a 5 star review somewhere else your vision is worth it! read more

I really appreciate an eye doctor who doesn't sell eyewear, but focuses on your eyesight. I always get a sense that otherwise they always seem to say you need a news prescription. Quiet office, except the ubiquitous Trump impeachment trials on the Flat screens. Seems every doc office I go to has the TV on. I waited very little time to be seen and then got a thorough exam and a DMV certificate to renew my license. No extra charge. Very thoughtful doctor and gentle hands as well as demeanor. Parking and entrance is behind this beautiful building of a monastic architecture. I will be back next year. read more

after 15 years of going to the same eye doc, prior and after he joined ocli, thinking it might be time for a new doc. i am always on time for appointment, except for the last one which i called and informed i was traveling from the city and stuck in traffic. they informed there was a 15 min grace period, i arrived 2 minutes late and receptionist told me to rebook i asked if she could check with doc he told her the same....didnt even have the courtesy to come out and say Hi and inform me himself. guess its OK that i have waited half hour for my appointments a couple of times or they canceled last minute cause of their issues. lack of compassion or understanding says alot about these medical professionals (sic). read more

I have been using a few doctors at OCLI for a few short years now l. Before today I would've given them overall a five star rating as I usually do when I go to see the individual doctors. This morning I woke up with a red eye which I get from time to time and it was extremely painful. I needed to see an ophthalmologist. I called their emergency services left a detailed message and was never called back by the physician on call ! when I spoke to them later in the morning in Garden City where the office is supposedly open on a Saturday until one. they had no openings even for an emergency and the on-call emergency doctor never called me back. Luckily, I was able to go to an optometrist who gave me an antibiotic separate and a part from the OCLI group. What good is it if OCLI keeps expanding and has no capacity to see emergency patients on a weekend? While I would certainly give this large conglomerate a high rating in their weekly operations, five stars for each ophthalmologist I have ever seen , they fail in the area on the weekend when the office is closed. What good is it to have an office like garden city that is open until 1 o'clock in the afternoon on a Saturday when they booked up all the appointments with either regular patients or other emergencies. Either you can handle emergencies or you can't and they can't sorry to say. read more

I had cataract surgery done by OCLI at their Old Westbury medical facility in February of '24. From the day right after surgery I have been in constant pain in my operated eye; I have lost count on how many times that I have been back to OCLI in Manhasset for checks up's; yet ten (10) months later the docs still want me to remain on six (6) different eye drops a day! This is crazy!! Enough already. An excessive amount of eye drops that are in fact burning my eyes daily, making them sore and red and doing nothing to help me with pain accept destroy my quality of life: Most people that I know who have had cataract surgery say they are only on drops for a month or so, NOT nearly a year! My vision is worse after the surgery, including headaches that I never had before t/eye surgery. I'm so upset, so wish I could 'rewind' time and never went to OCLI for the surgery; doctors have no interest in helping me, (I'm always very polite) but that does nothing to get the help that I deserve and paid for, (I paid the bulk of the bill, +premium lens etc.,. insurance paid little. Very bad experience here. Here's why: I went in with a right eye that was tearing too much after an infection. On my first visit in April 2021, I had a decent experience and was examined by one of the doctors on staff. The doctor concluded that I had a clogged tear duct and told me that I would need to be seen again in three weeks by a specialist, Dr. Garibaldi. I returned in May 2021 for the follow up. I was accompanied by a family member who wanted to ask a few questions to the doctor, but despite her being double-vaccinated for COVID-19 and wearing a mask, the office assistant refused to allow her in (at Dr. Garibaldi's personal request) since "anyone can transmit the virus, even people who have been vaccinated." Despite the fact that copious scientific research clearly demonstrates that this is very unlikely, no dice. We asked if we could consult briefly with Dr. Garibaldi on the phone after the appointment, and this was given the OK. I saw Dr. Garibaldi then. He was very dry, and did a good examination. After examining me he told me that I should use flonase and warm compresses, and that if this didn't work then I would probably require surgery eventually to fix my tear duct. For context, we had called after my first appointment to ask if I should use warm compresses, and we were told that this was not necessary. As a result, I missed out on three weeks of potential treatment since the office didn't know the right course of treatment for this condition the first time! We don't think this is acceptable. Secondly, Dr. Garibaldi never spoke with me and my family after the appointment despite recommending a serious procedure requiring general anesthesia and surgery, and despite a promise from the office that we would be able to talk to him. His tone was too indifferent and aloof given the gravity of the situation. After leaving, we did some research and found out that there are other treatments for a clogged tear duct besides surgery. We are now taking our concerns to places that can help us with these. I know that many surgeons love to perform unnecessary surgeries to make extra money, but you want to avoid these if you can. I would not recommend OCLI based on my experience there and would recommend that you get a second opinion if you have a serious diagnosis here. read more

Our Whole Family Left this Practice Because of Dr. Garibaldi, We'll NEVER return. Based on the care we received, one star is a compliment. As a Professional with many doctors in my immediate family, and as someone who worked at a large hospital improving patient care, I can say that the atrocious way we were treated by Dr. Garibaldi is the worst I've ever encountered. I write this solely in the hope that someone else will benefit, I am certain OCLI will take no remedial action whatsoever. I accompanied a family member who had been dealing with some serious medical issues to an appointment for a clogged tear duct and an eye that was streaming tears. Initially, I had called the office to inquire whether there was anything we could do to help the patient in the meantime, and was told "no". This turned out to be completely false, another black mark on whoever answers the phone at OCLI, they obviously are clueless and could not care less about their patients. Three weeks went by with the patient continuing to suffer, and we arrived for out appointment, both of us wearing N95's and fully vaccinated. Despite the specific request of my family member, Dr. Garibaldi refused to permit me in to the examination room out of fear of contagion (we were both 100% healthy) which was very upsetting to us both, I have NEVER had a dr. refuse a patient's request to attend the examination. But this was just a warm up to what was yet to come. When my family member emerged from the appointment, he said that Dr. Garibaldi told him that he would "most likely" need a major surgery to carve a channel in the bone of his face and create an artificial tear duct. We were both stunned, and my family member, a young adult, asked me to speak with Dr. Garibaldi, who.....refused! Mind you, we were both polite, quiet, compliant, and although stunned by his rudeness and lack of compassion, nonetheless could not believe that a dr. would refuse to speak with a family member at the patient's request. NOT EVEN ON THE PHONE. Instead, Dr. Garibaldi sent out a staff member to run interference for him and basically get rid of us. Apparently, it was OK to expose the staff member to our "germs", but he protected his precious self in the bowels of the offices. We left, shaken and disgusted. There is a happy ending to this story, however, which is that Dr. Garibaldi turned out to be COMPLETELY WRONG, and with the recommendation of another Dr. to massage the tear duct and use a nasal spray, the issue completely resolved itself. Any practice that would associate with such a rude, unprofessional, uncaring, and medically erroneous Dr. is not one that we can ever return to. Our entire family were patients in this practice, none of us will never return, and we are so happy that we have found outstanding eye care elsewhere, outside of this medical factory that keeps sending us text "reminders" to return for an exam. Each time, we are "reminded" of how lucky we are that we never have to see Dr. Garibaldi again. We have found excellent and caring eye doctors in the area, but judging from our experience, you won't find them here. Stay as far away as possible. read more

After going here for years, the office tried to switch me from Dr. Broderick to another ophthalmologist. I was told I would receive the same treatment, which included updating prescriptions for my contacts. When I arrived for an appointment with the new doctor, I was surprised to learn he didn't prescribe contacts (a really odd thing for an eye doctor). The staff was unhelpful and rude. Trying to push someone to a new doctor who won't perform the same services is bad business, and I won't be returning. read more

I have been going to OCLI for many years. Unfortunately, my last experience was not a good one. I had a 4 pm on 10/28 and arrived early at 3:35 pm. I was not greeted at the front desk, but signed myself in and sat down. At 4:15 pm I was called in to have the customary yearly eye check by the nurse/technician. By 4:30 pm, I was back in the waiting room to be called to see Dr. McDonald. By 5:15 pm, I asked the only other person in the waiting room who she was waiting to see. She was also waiting to see Dr. McDonald, and her appointment was for 3:30 pm. I knew at that point that I was clearly not seeing the doctor before 6 pm. I was not going to wait. I went to the front desk to give them the courtesy to let them know I was leaving. They told me that they had been experiencing technical issues with the computer system and that was the reason for the delay. I received a reminder text to come to my appointment at 1 pm, but was told the problem did not exist at that time. I explained that certainly they knew the problem existed when I signed in at 3:35 pm and should have been the opportunity to reschedule at that time. The worst part about this is that I have written two emails to them and neither one has even been acknowledged.
