I am a little bummed I purchased all my interior knobs at Home Depot already because Lowes really has a better selection and more modern style which is what I'm doing with my home. We found the Pella Storm door we wanted online at Lowes and ordered it, couldn't find the storm door knob in store but ordered it online and will definitely check Lowes out when looking for things because they have a lot more modern style and black which is what I am doing a lot of. Customer service was great when I asked questions.

This store has made my life so hard…read more I bought a front door from them for almost 2000 dollars. They sent someone to measure my front door to have a specific size made. Then they called and told me they had purchased a standard door and asked if they could try and fit it on anyway. I said no, and they acted like it was some crazy inconvenience that I wanted what I paid for. I just got a refund for everything. A few months later I made an online order of 120+ cinder blocks. 24 pieces of rebar and some mortar. I had to come pick up the rebar and mortar, wouldn't deliver, fine. I asked the associate if there were 24 pieces of rebar and he said yes. Got home and there were only 18. 45 of my blocks were delivered from another store. They actually came. The rest of my 80+ blocks I ordered may 19. They said they would come on the 27th. Then the 29th. Then the June 3rd, then June 5th. And now they say I'll get them June 12th. I'm not sure I believe they are coming at all. The store is a half mile away from my home. Totally screwed up the timeline for my construction project. Don't know how I will get it done this summer. This store has cost me money multiple times in the last 3 months and it's driving me crazy

This is place is *awesome*! But here is 'the catch': plan…read moreon spending two hours in this place. The only thing it did not really have was plants and pots, and maybe lumber? Otherwise.....it has it all! Since they have too much to list I will just tell what 'turned my head'. They had 4-5 different kinds of magnet, metal picker uppers (for nails in driveways), 10-15 different kinds of crowbars, an insane number of gloves, the biggest bulk nail selection I have ever seen, keys made with every possible keychain accessory, hobby paints, a huge selection of gardening tools, 2-3 benches......they even had old school woodworking tools (ie: folding wood ruler?). The man at the back counter was awesome, too. He does all the ordering and we talked for sometime. He gave me some good ideas on tools for specialized tasks I needed to do. I saw him all over the store, though....making keys and helping people. Another employee over by the garden section helped me by going out of her way to come up with a way I could modify something to work when I was having no luck otherwise. Worth the drive there! I love Ace Hardware stores in general, but this one deserves an award for the sheer amount of variety, and fabulous staff. (Oh, and afterwards? Go to 'the Taco Bus' just west of there down Pacific Ave past the McMenamins Grand Lodge. All the mexican food there is fabulous and fresh. I like the carne asada tostadas, and my husband likes the traditional tacos. The Grand Lodge is also fabulous for cheap, FUN rooms and cheap, comfortable movies where you can order food at the same time.)

They did such a good job the first time around. This time I went directly through Precision Countertops, which personally I thought was way better. First let me say that every single person I talked to on the phone, met in person, and worked with in my home was absolutely AMAZING. I met with Andrew to go over the design and pricing. I knew ahead of time the quartz counters I wanted were on backorder, but I totally understood and was very willing to wait. Once I paid my down payment, I promptly received a call from Kaylee, my project coordinator. Everything was explained well in advance on what I needed to do to be ready for measures and install. Any questions I had were always answered right away, and always so kindly. PLEASE people, read your emails and ask questions if you aren't sure. Almost all the reviews I've read where people are slamming Precision could have been avoided had customers been communicative and understanding of normal processes. Again, everyone who came into my home for measures and install were totally awesome and wonderful. Part of the subway tile backsplash I chose was on backorder by a few months, and guess what? I didn't throw a temper tantrum while waiting for it. I truly understand that sometimes these things happen, and I was offered different products by my project coordinator that would have been in stock. I chose to wait, and had no issues with it. Our quartz countertops and backsplash were installed beautifully, and with no issues. Again, everyone was wonderful. For those of you who read the negative reviews and don't stop to consider both sides....here's an example for you: If you order a 50 cent cheeseburger, you only need to wait less than a minute for them to hand it over to you. A really awesome, mind blowing cheeseburger takes a few minutes to make. Just a quick metaphor for common sense. :) If you want a gorgeous, amazing product, let people do their job and don't be jerks about waiting for it. I honestly can't say enough GOOD things about everyone we worked with at Precision. Thank you so much to all of you!

Hillsboro Ace Hardware - Cheap material don't buy here

Hillsboro Ace Hardware

The best thing this Ace has going for it is the location which is a five star…read more The staff is not very knowledgeable so for that I'd have to give them a three star. But, they also don't try very hard so even though their knowledge is not there (as compared to, for example, the Aloha Ace Hardware) instead of seeking help from other staff in the store or working more to understand the problem, they basically say, "good luck with that". I'm writing this review from multiple experiences so I'm summarizing a bit but, for example: sometimes I come in because I'm doing a DIY project and I need something, let's say landscaping stakes. I'm sort of making this up just to illustrate the point. So I explain this, I want to make my own landscaping stakes. Here's how this would go at the Aloha Ace Hardware: Helpful hardware wo/man: "Ok, so you want something to stick in the ground so that you can hold things down like drip lines or landscaping cloth?" Me: "Yup, exactly." Helpful hardware wo/man: "OK, let's go over here and look at our wire. How about this, will that work?" Me: "Well, I think it's too small, it won't be strong enough" Helpful hardware wo/man: "Hm, ok, let's look over here. Here's some aluminum flat stock. Could you cut this up and use it like stakes?" Me: "That's a good idea but it looks like it will be too expensive." Helpful hardware wo/man: "Have you considered using wire coat hangers?" Me: "We only have wood and plastic hangers". Helpful hardware wo/man: "You know, I think you can get those on Amazon for something like $15 for 100. Would that work?" Break. Ok, so here's how that whole thing would work (theoretically, again, I'm just summarizing many different experiences, this particular one is made up) at the 25th ave store: 25TH Ave hardware wo/man: "We don't sell landscaping stakes." Me: "Oh, ok, do you sell anything like them?" 25TH Ave hardware wo/man: "Like camping stakes? No, we don't sell any camping gear." Me: "No, I mean, do you sell something I could use to make these things?" 25TH Ave hardware wo/man: "What are you looking for?" Break. In reality, I don't think this is a staff problem it's a management problem. Here, there is not your typical Ace mentality of "tell me your problem, I WILL help you" it's more like: "Tell me what you want and I'll tell you what aisle to look for it." I want this store to be successful but unfortunately, it's sort of a last resort for me and when I go it's fully with the expectation that I'm in this not so big warehouse store, on my own. Sometimes, I feel like I'm better off in a huge warehouse store, on my own, since there at least I have more options to look through. Overall, I would really give this store a two star but that's such a poor score and I want to help the store survive so I'm going to game the system and give it a three star.

The truck turned around in my driveway and hit my mailbox, smashing the box and knocking it off the post.. My neighbors sent photos that day to the reps they had been dealing with and I spoke with one of them the next day and was assured I would hear from someone within a couplecof days. In the meantime, I had no mailbox and was given a notice from the post office that they could not deliver my mail. I did not hear from anyone at Parr so I called after 3 days and asked if I could just buy a replacement andcsendcthem a receipy. "Absolutely: So I bought a new box and bracket and texted the receipt. 2 weeks go by and I call. So far everyone has been very friendly but no one has said they are sending a check or apologized. The rep was annoyed (probably because he had passed it to his boss) and said I should call the boss. I did. No reply. So I called the rep again who says he's busy, the boss is busy and they have "95 more important things to deal with." So I call the store and ask for customer service. After exp laing what happened, I get a call from an assistant manager who assures me he will send a check Thursday - He was very nice. it was Monday. Then he tells me no incident report was filed and asks me to email him the receipt. I do, along with the photos. He replies asking for my address. I send it. It is now nearly the end of October and no check, no phone call, no apology. So, it seems the people at Parr Lumber are well trained at being kind, with one exception which I can forgive, but they do not follow through or follow up. Very disappointing experience.
