Located directly in front of Bogue Inlet Fishing Pier, this motel sits just 500 feet from the beach. To access the beach, you simply walk across the parking lot, and there is a pedestrian walk-way right next to the pier for public beach access. This establishment is all about location, location, location! There are actually two seperate buildings that constitute "Oceanview Inn". The two-story structure was built in the early 1970's and it certainly appears aged from the outside as a few other people have mentioned. However, the rooms have been updated with modern, albeit no-frills amenities. Inside the room is a wall-mounted 32" LCD TV, a mini-fridge, a small microwave, iron, ironing board, and coffee maker. The lighting is wall-mounted for a modern, functional feel. The beds are a little firm, but they are not rock hard. Three pillows on each queen bed. The sheets were pretty basic, while the blankets were well worn and needed to be replaced. The carpet was fairly new and clean. The bathroom appeared to be original 1970's vintage and certainly needed to be upgraded to a more modern feel. The single-story structure (located behind the office) was built in the 1950's based on the tongue-and-groove wood ceiling. I have stayed in both the main building and also the single-story structure...both have equal amenities in my opinion. There are not a whole lot of lodging choices on Emerald Isle (unless you are looking to rent a house for a week). Oceanview Inn is located on the western side of the island, and the only other real options are located on the extreme eastern end (which include name-brand chain hotels that cost considerably more) up at Atlantic Beach. The location is fantastic. Easy beach access, and best of all I enjoyed the strolls on Bogue Inlet Fishing Pier (which I reviewed separately). You are only a short walk away from several restaurants (Dairy Queen, Jordan's Seafood, Great China, etc). I visited in mid-July was very surprised that I was able to book a room for the weekend with just a few days notice. There were only 6 rooms being rented that weekend (as judged from the number of cars in the parking lot), but this establishment has about 20 rooms in total. Not sure why the low attendance, but I certainly intend on returning. During peak season plan on $150/night. During the off season rooms can be had for under $100/night. The location is perfect, the only reason for the 4-Star rating (instead of the full-blown 5-Star) is they need to continue to modernize the amenities, especially the bathrooms. Basic, no-frills motel...but the location is what drives the price. I plan on returning.

Pretty dodgy dive hotel. Perfectly adequate in a pinch, but stay way clear of the smoking rooms - they are like death chambers.

As you enter, you notice that the trash cans by the door are clean and empty, the glass doors clean and a woman is mopping wet footprints off of the floor each time someone walks across the lobby. The staff comes in early in the morning and you see them arrive with clean, pressed uniforms as they are talking and entering the building. They are a team and everyone knows their job and takes pride in their work. The pool deck and walkway to the beach are cleaned every morning. The men that take care of the outside amenities empty the trash, pick up items left behind and straighten the patio furniture before anyone comes to use the amenities. The groundskeepers then show up and mow the grass with a battery powered mower and weedwacker so that it doesn't disturb anyone that is still sleeping. They have coffee by the restaurant as early as 6:30 in the morning. It is hotel coffee, but this is a hotel and not a barista fixing your cup of morning joe. The restaurant that is on site and serves breakfast is very clean and offers seating options inside or on their patio. They are a little slow to get you seated, but once seated you are taken care of and don't need to ask for anything. Our cups were full and so were our stomachs as we got ready for a day at the beach. I don't like buffets. However, this buffet very clean and the food was good. We did sample the menu 2 of the days that we stayed. Th

DoubleTree by Hilton Atlantic Beach Oceanfront…read more I used electronic check-in, though I did stop by the front desk briefly to ask where the restaurant was before heading over for dinner about 40 minutes before closing. I'll cover that experience separately. Overall, the hotel delivered a solid stay. The room--707, oceanfront--was clean for the most part and well-equipped with everything you'd expect: refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker (filter-style pods), ironing board, hair dryer, and a television. Lighting is excellent, with plenty of lamps throughout the room, and there are ample AC outlets along with modern USB and USB-C ports, which is a nice touch. One feature that stood out was the small table with two chairs. It made a big difference since I ended up bringing dinner back to the room, and having a proper place to sit and eat comfortably is something not every hotel gets right. The room itself was spacious with a balcony overlooking the ocean. The view was great, and the setup made it easy to relax and enjoy the beachfront atmosphere. There was nothing wrong with the room--it was a solid, comfortable oceanfront stay. Parking is plentiful and free, which is always a plus in a beach area. One thing to keep in mind for this stretch of the coast: it tends to stay windy. Be prepared for strong winds and quick temperature changes, especially if you're spending time outside on the balcony or walking along the beach. Overall, a good, reliable oceanfront stay with the conveniences you want and a comfortable setup for relaxing by the water.

This hotel is located off of a highway overlooking a trailer park at the ocean. You see golf carts driving by and a glimpse of the water. The lady working there was very friendly after I struck up a conversation. What I despised about this place is the fact that their fitness room opens at 8am. Why in the world would it not be open earlier than that? Most people have to be at work at 8 and work out at 530 or 6 am. So, that was a big miss. They do have a pool which was actually pretty nice but don't do as I did and expect their to be pool towels outside. You must bring your own towel. They serve breakfast from 730-9 and it was a continental breakfast plus a circle egg patty and sausage. The hotel has rusty doorknobs and doors and definitely needed some TLC. The chair in the room for the desk to work on was one of the most uncomfortable chairs I have ever sat in. The shower was a very cheaply made shower. The bed was comfy but the way they did the sheets was weird. Nothing was tucked in so it came apart. The room was very clean and the TV had a lot of stations So if you are looking for a reasonable hotel for the family and not looking for luxury but not a Motel 6, this is your place. I would go back again for work, too. I just don't get the fitness center hours. Doesn't make sense. Oh, one last thing- the internet is extremely slow!

All except for, the older woman at the front desk, Jackie, who was seemingly annoyed to do her job all while gossiping to staff about guests as well as other staff members. She wasn't aware I could hear her I'd hope. Just left a bad taste. I could never judge people on appearance that way. The stay itself though was great! Comfortable bedding, timely midstay housekeeping, and a nice breakfast spread.

I spilled something on the bed so I pulled the sheets up from the mattress. When I came back later they just laid the sheets and blanket back down. I again had to go to the desk and ask for service. Went to the pool and some substance was floating in the corner. It looked like vomit. I alerted the staff and they said it was just pollen and suntan lotion. Pollen in late July? Was informed by other guest that 2 days prior someone had been vomiting in the pool and they never cleaned it. A guy came out with a paper towel and skimmed the water but it is very much still there.

It's a bizarre time to be reviewing most things because Covid has obviously thrown off the "normal" into many shades of grey. With that said, take this one with a grain of salt as it's only a brief snapshot in time for how things are now. In another month or two, who knows? Let's start with the good: The location to the beach couldn't be any better. Just a short walk and you're there. The hotel was sold out or near it every night we were there yet the beach area directly across the street was never busy. The same as last year with seeing the same families and people every day more or less set up in the same spot very spread out from each other. All Covidly perfect. Not so good: Hilton Honors benefits at check in are still a no here, just like last year. The beds are extremely squeaky. Any sitting/moving = high pitched squeaking. The hotel is not following the new Hilton/Lysol cleaning protocol that started a few weeks ago. No stickers on the room doors or verbiage anywhere on property. I was told at check in that if you want your garbage taken to have it in the hallway early in the morning so that housekeeping could grab it and that the only way to get fresh towels or any bedding was to stop a housekeeper in the hall with your old stuff or bring your old stuff with you to the front desk since the hotel was running extremely low. Is the hotel's linen par really that low? Is the smell of that much garbage-food in the hallways overnight a good idea? Our room was dusty/sandy when we checked in and the a/c unit was filthy. No way were either cleaned thoroughly in a while. But since there was no daily housekeeping and with the hotel being sold out the day we checked in... If you want a hotel that has a great beach location that is out of the way and quiet, this is it. Past that, things were on the dirtier side in general and I question any place not following the new cleaning protocol. Time to give this one a rest for a bit.

The TV is a very small and not smart TV. The bathroom is small but manageable for a couple. Another thing is the WiFi is bad and I have been completely disconnected to just be on my phone. Other than those minor complaints the hotel is nice and I would recommend staying here. Could use some minor cosmetic touch ups in places. And another complaint is the chairs they say are complimentary for the beach, most are broken. We were so excited to visit Atlantic Beach and looking forward to staying at the Crystal Coast Oceanfront Hotel, because the photos of this hotel were amazing. We almost drove past the hotel when we arrived. The color of the building looked faded and dingy. Beware that the images that they display on their website don't show the filth. I shrugged and decided that it's close to the ocean and although looking weathered, I was going to enter and make the most of this time away from the office. We approached the front door and the glass was dirty, the handle to the hotel felt dirty and gritty in my hands as we entered. We arrived early and they told us our room wasn't ready and that check-in time was at 4:00. The couple that arrived just after us were allowed to check in although early and went to their room. We went back into the hotel at about 3:45 to get in line to pick up our keys, because the foyer was full. We were told at approximately 4:30 that our room wasn't ready and that they were short staffed, had over 80 rooms to get ready and that we would just have to wait in the lobby, the restaurant or we could go to the pool or the beach. We were traveling with our dog and had over $12,000.00 dollars worth of bikes on the bike rack. The options that she presented for us wouldn't work. We moved aside and let the people behind us go, since they might have better luck. We got back into line and made it to the check-in desk at about 4:40-4:45. We explained that the options that she had presented wouldn't work for us and we asked to have our money back so that we could go elsewhere. She refused and we asked to speak to the manager. She said that the manager wasn't available. I told her that we would get our money back, because we made a reservation for a room, paid in advance and they didn't have the room that we reserved. At that moment, we felt like we were in the Jerry Seinfeld episode...You can take the reservation, but don't know how to hold the reservation. She told us we would have to came back later and talk with the manager. We went after dinner at around 7:00. The front desk attendant was missing in action, so we rang the bell on the counter. She finally came into the office and smelled as thought she had been smoking a cigarette. She said, how can I help you and she had completely forgotten what had happened just a few hours earlier. We explained that we had tried to check in and our room wasn't ready and we wanted to speak with the manager. We were once again told that the manager wasn't available. We asked her to give our money back or to call the manager so that they could process the refund. She told me to quit screaming at her. I looked around and the lobby was full. I told her that I wasn't screaming and that she simply didn't want to hear what I had to say. I told my supervisor what the front desk attendant said about me screaming. He said that he has worked along side of me for the last 19 years and has never heard me scream at anyone and didn't even think that I could scream. My nickname is mouse, because I have a tiny voice. We tried to call the hotel throughout the week and nobody would answer the phone. We finally made our way back to the Hotel on Friday. They refused to offer a refund and told us we would need to call Expedia. Our reservation was made through booking.com. We called booking.com, explained that our room wasn't ready and that we had to secure another last minute reservation for the week. The representative placed us on hold and called the hotel to request that they refund our money if the room wasn't ready on time as we had stated. The manager said that she was declining the refund. The booking.com representative said okay, but I have just 1 more question before you hang up. Was their room ready at 4:00? The manager said that the room wasn't ready and hung up the phone. Booking.com got our money back with 24 hours after we made the call. They also paid the difference that we paid the Crystal Coast Oceanfront Hotel and the hotel that we were able to secure a last minute reservation.
