I've been calling and visiting shops these past several months, for a tattoo I've wanted for years... I knew I wanted a butterfly or string of butterflies, either on my neck or on my hand, and do you know how many places will not do a hand tattoo?? A shop in Encinitas wouldn't even do a neck one. My thought was, "it's not like I'm asking for a gang sign or a penis on my forehead..." Anyway, I knew as soon as I stepped in this parlor, that I wanted my art created here. Everyone was super friendly, and the girls at the check-in counter really set the tone for my visit. The place is clean, and space open. A lot of people were waiting, which was a great sign to me. I told them what I wanted and I don't know if I was waiting those three hours for a specific artist or just the next one available, but they sent me to Myles. I showed him ideas, told him I like bright colors, and left everything else to his interpretation. What he created for me makes me so happy! The artists are truly amazing. I have had 4 of the artists, 6 tattoos. The wife has had 3 artists, 4 tattoo's. and our daughter got her first piece done there. Every piece we have been very pleased with. Our issues there stem from the front desk. We had been told many times no appointments. Ok. Fine. The same kid has also told us i don't know if this can be done today. More than once we had heard this from him. At one point toward the beginning of our sessions there, we had went to other shops looking around while we where on the wait list, but opted to overlook the demeanor and go back to set out what we had walked in to do. Then there was today. We walked in about an hour after they had opened. Wife and I both had work we wanted to get done. We had walk ins before us. Understandable. We were an hour behind the doors being opened. Unfortunately some others had appointments (mind you, we had been told more than once walk in only). This same front desk guy that had gave us run around before was really reluctant about what the wife wanted done. After us sitting around for 5 hours we were told that she would not be able to get hers done. As much as we loved the work we got done there, we felt really pushed off after this experience and don't plan on returning. We were a couple that was recognized by the artists when they saw us because of the loyalty we showed to the shop. Sad the front desk worker ruined the whole experience for us. i moved out to Oceanside March 2020 and i need to find a new shop. this was a random shop i came across and i must say, I LOVE IT HERE. i've gotten three tattoos here so far and my nostril pierced. Zach did my first tattoo (my hand tat) and Clark did two others (my butt and my hip) cherries on hip did have slight ink bleeding but that was my fault not Clark's. i forgot i got it (as i do) and took a bath the day i got it so there was some slight ink bleeding but i still love it and still one of my favorites. p.s all of these were walk-ins and all of them are probably my favorite/ best done tattoos. 10000/10 recommend this shop to anyone! read more

I've had this design in mind for a over a year now, but with COVID and no vaccine it was hard to move forward. Fast forward 9 months and i found oceanside tattoo. Saw their store every time id drive thru oceanside downtown so was intrigued to see if they had walk ins. I scheduled this appointment on the same day i got the tattoo. Desk service was very nice and helpful. My tattoo artist was very professional, quick, and clean. I did wish there was a bit more dialogue between the artist and myself while he was poking me with a needle to distract me but i understand it can be difficult to gauge if a customer wants to talk. The review is Loooooong overdue. First off, the male staff were rude. The female in the front was inviting and nice. Mikey was rude until he got paid. Jesse has an attitude the whole time until we tipped and left. He tried to put on a front the whole time in his chair. What are you trying to prove dude? You work in a tattoo shop...you don't have to try that hard. We were walk-ins and wanted to get something small for fun. My friend and I got a little finger tattoo. There is such a stigma with little tattoos and artists. It seems like they were pissed off that we asked for them. Before we arrived at the shop we called and asked what their minimum charge was. When we got there, the number had changed. He said he could do them for $100 each. When we hesitated, he claimed he couple do it for $85. Woooowww, big difference. Anyway, once the tattoo was going it was fine. The thing is, he asked if I wanted it wrapped....I'm not a tattoo artists, but I know your supposed to put a solution on the tattoo after and wrap it. Like whaaat?? He wasn't all that sterile, especially during covid but I mean i guess I chose to get a tattoo...lol My friend got a heart and he f'd it up. It is uneven. It's not what she wanted or what he drew up. In other words, please don't go here, or if you do, please choose another artist that treats people with respect instead of making them feel uncomfortable. read more

I recently went to Frontline Tattoo for a cover-up and was highly impressed with the work done there and due to unavailability they referred me to their sister-shop Oceanside Tattoo, which is closer to where I now live in Oceanside. Oceanside Tattoo has just recently opened and located right in the mix of the city. Parking is easily available within the blocks perimeter and there are plenty of things to do if you have a wait. To avoid waiting unnecessarily, always try to schedule an appointment ahead of time. The inside is clean and they're still in the process of decorating, so it's going to look even better. The staff is super friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. There's also a computer to do tattoo design research on and the walls are filled with artwork to inspire your creativity. I also personally liked how their bathroom was immaculate and that speaks volumes to me about what's important to a business. So far I've had work done from Myles and Clark and they are both excellent at their craft and I trust them completely to do my work. Very professional and experienced artists in here! I went there about 3 months ago and had a tattoo artist over charge me. At the beginning of my tattoo experience, he came back with my design and asked what my absolute max in pricing would be. I told him my max would be 400$ and that is exactly how much he charged me for a tattoo that took 40 minutes MAX to complete. I had already paid and didn't want to cause a scene, until I spoke to my family and was told that that is way overpriced. For Martin to sit there and ask for what my max was and just choose to charge me that much to get his big cut is beyond upsetting. Not to mention he missed shading in a couple of spots. I gave this place a chance due to the convenient location, lots of people were in and out smoking and there were some great reviews. After my free consultation, they told me they can take me in right now. The goal was to get a cover up of a name. The tattoo artist was from out of town and working there for summer. I was charged $450, which I thought was steep given the material I was getting. I walked for a SOLID BLACK heart with a couple flowers and fringe to accent it. He kept saying he was going to add white to the heart so it has more dimension. I told him, "no the solid back heart is what I want. The dimension can come from the outline and the flowers." In the end he never fixed it and I have a bunch of white in black heart (which I have been wanting for a very long time). Now you can see the person's name that I was trying to cover up. If it was all black then it would be less obvious. The heart is uneven. It is very bulbous on one side and a different shape on the other. The finger is uneven as well. After consulting another artist I found out he was trying to cast a shadow he did it wrong.he should have switched the purple flower to the bottom and the red to the top. Also, all the leaves should be filled in. It looks like he forgot to do so. It is not terrible, but any tattoo artist can tell it needs improvement-Especially for the amount of $450. Military doesnt take that much and we were saving up for a while to get this done. This guy comes once a year and does a free touch up. I didnt realize I got myself into this I was already in the chair. I need 2 more cover ups and now I will have to find a new place. Transparency is important to run a business. read more

I spur of the moment decided to get some new ink! They were two I was going to get done at some point and decided now was as good a time as any. I went in about 6pm and was greeted very warmly at the front counter. There were a couple people ahead of me but I was still acknowledged. After he helped another guests we talked for a bit about what I wanted. I had a couple images and we picked out the best and for my locations. I had to wait for about 2 hours for the tattoo artist to finish with a previous customer , which they were also upfront about when I walked in. They encouraged me to go get food, walk around and come back. They have a check in system where they text you about 15 mins before your time. So I ran a few errands and got some food and came back. I had to wait for about :30 min and then it was my turn. The place is very cool and CLEAN!! It's aesthetically pleasing which is what you want in a tattoo parlor. They have really cool vintage artwork on the walls to keep you entertained. Myles was great (and kinda cute ) and went over my artwork with me. He was very attentive to make sure he got the right place, details and design. I would rather have a perfectionist do my tattoo than someone rushing through. Overall I'm really pleased with the work! I've already gotten lots of compliments and people asking where I got them done. I'll be back for at least one more I know of in the near future. read more

I saw online that an artist I liked was open for walk ins, was super excited, called to ask if it would be a good time to come in, receptionist was friendly and told me there wasn't a 100% chance of getting me in today, but we will see what we can do. OK, no problems so far, i moreso wanted to check the place out to see what their pricing was like, how long it might take, and if what i wanted was doable. the problem happened when i get there. i go to the front desk, say i'm there for Martín. the front desk guy asks what i'm looking to get, sizing, color etc. the designs i wanted we're pretty simple and small. just black line work. they had a couple concerns about one of them, as it didn't have super clear detail, (which i understand, still not the problem.) but i sat down while the front desk guy, Martín and one other artist were talking, and i heard them making comments about the designs i wanted. they were talking about them and acting like they were stupid designs; one of the guys even laughing at them. then, martin and the front desk guy come over, tell me they'd have to resize one of the designs (that part is fine, didn't bother me) but then they quoted me $300 for two tattoos that even if they were resized would be smaller than 2x2. it is simple line work that i know for a fact would not take 2 hours (which is the time they quoted me). they told me the shop minimum was $80 let's do some simple math, 2 tattoos x $80 = 160. quoting me $300 for very small designs that dont require artist sketching, brainstorming, no shading or color, literally just linework, $300 is ridiculous. now, the outfit i was wearing did not show my other tattoos, so my overall impression of The Arcade is that they are looking to take advantage of you. not only was it extremely unprofessional to laugh at a potential customers request, but also very predatory to have such insane pricing. i was really looking forward to getting the designs i brought in, even if they did need to be altered or resized. they were memorial pieces for my DEAD grandparents. i am feeling like i dodged a bullet by deciding to walk away, especially after reading some of the other reviews. i will not go to The Arcade, and i will be sure to tell everyone i know to find a place where they WONT laugh at your design. i've also only heard bad things about this shop; thought i'd give it a chance anyways due to liking some artwork, glad to have not gotten my ink here! read more
